you mean eh? it's an eastern canadian thing. Depends on how many eastern canadians you run into.
The only Canadians I can recall talking to for long periods were from Nova Scotia and Manitoba, maybe a few from BC or so but nobody had a strong-strong accent. Just a slight northern. Same as any country, really. Minnesotans have strong accents to me, even stronger than the Canadians I've met.

My question is, why do some Canadians train to sound less Canadian? It makes you distinct. How do you say sorry, anyway?
he's an actor. Normal canadians don't try not to sound canadian. And there are some a couple strong accents

and of course this one

and I'm not sure how we say sorry lol

I don't really know any Canadians. My husband has family in Canada but I've never met them. My uncle owns a house on Prince Edward Island, put I've never been there.

I listen to Q radio. It's from Canada, and sometimes the guests say, "aboot". It's usually pretty hard to point out a Canadian. They sound and look so much like us. :slap:
where abouts in canada? we have a local radio station called the Q

I got the impression that it was a national show. The guy's name is Jian Ghomeshi.

Oh right, gotcha.

Often I see actors like Karl Urban or Hugh Jackman doing other accents and I wish the producers/directors would have them talk normally. They're awesome, regardless. Been watching Jonathan Rhys Meyers on his new series and he's doing American (transplanted) again as well. Most of them sound so much deeper when they do American accents. I wonder if that is because it's further from the actual accent the actor has.
"Would you like to talk about what's bothering you or would you like to break some more furniture?"

"My car just hissed at me. There's steam coming out of the engine"

"Was it the coffee? Are we gonna go too, just like the captain?" "I know what time it is, I don't need a bloomin' cukoo clock"
