hardhouse(u.s./l.a.) why i love it: well, it was my first step going into the hard dance scene back in 2003. also it was the only thing i love because it give it that raw sound then the rich sound of house and trance. also if ur a house hard and looking for a ruffer new sound. hardhouse was the answer. hardcore/gabber why i love it: well, it was the basic sound to me that came close to metal and punk in my teenage days. i love metal to death but i also love my punk. and when i got the chance to listen hardcore at a event in austin. i just fell in love with it. you know, a good reason to say the mainstream "FUCK YOU" in their face also the system. hardstyle, jumpstyle, newstyle. why i love it: two reason. its close to hardhouse and used the same formet in a different way. all these elements here are from the back bone of the hard dance scene when hard techno and hardhouse rule the scene back in the 90's and early 2000 until the underground sound was going forward of the new techology of music came with software and midi keyboards. also uk was more into it then the america's scene from that era of hard dance. happy hardcore why i love it: well, i love it's a genre into a fast paste sound of gabber but lighter and happy. and it make me feel like a kid again while playing nintendo/super nintendo. with the vocal's and crazy melody's and the drop beat of jungle once in awhile. i can't describe? |

For me, I like a few of the choices from Drum & Bass, Jungle to Happy Hardcore. Why? Well, it all started back in the day when turntablism and beats creation were the thing. I actually fooled around with doing scratches then but I considered it beginner noob stuff at best. |

I fell in love with turntablism as well, but I never got a chance to actually learn anything about it. I learn much better when I have a teacher, and scratching was always very difficult for me to attempt to master solo. I did have someone to teach me beatmatching (thanks, P.L.U.R.Kid!), though, and it's served me well. I have to say (again, and finally explain) that Happy Hardcore is always where my heart will live. I've branched out in the last few years to jungle, vocal trance, hard house and (please forgive me) dubstep, but I'll never be able to give up my melody. It's the vocals, the synth, the highs in Happy Hardcore that keep me coming back in a musical genre that worships bass. Even when I put together a drum & bass or dubstep mix, I keep finding myself pulling tracks with lots of vocals and melody. On a side note, for anyone who has seen the film One Perfect Day (and if you haven't, please do!), I've always had a chuckle during the scene in the record store where Tommy is learning to spin and gets into an argument with [Emma's boyfriend? don't remember his name] the DJ when he tries to lead into a transition with his highs instead of his bass. Because I try to do that all the time

I love happy hardcore. Especially the kind with cheesy sappy lyrics (e.g. Children of the Night by Nakatomi). No matter what mood I am in, tracks like this just make me so happy and I want to dance and sing and jump around :3 |
