Ah... so she did know of Basil's feelings. His expression had become careful blank and he glanced back just in time for Basil to appear. First loves were hard and he found himself a bit anxious for his friend's well being. The she-cat's reaction had not been comforting nor very enthusiastic. He expected maybe flattery or awkwardness but such a... repellant reaction... He hoped that this wouldn't lead to heart break; it was something he couldn't bare to see.

He listened to Basil's clumsy words and awkward stumbling with something akin to pity and even more worry. The young tom was like a younger brother to him and for the time being, he felt like Basil was under his proverbial wing and protection. But how did one protect a friend from matters of the heart? It was hard to cushion something like this. Bard flicked an ear back, having long zoned out of the pair's conversation. He had entered a pensive mood, mind drifting to his youth and the months spent with Vagrant; his own ears heated at the thought of the suave black cat with the tuxedo like markings. Ah... young love can be so blind.

"What?"

Bard blinked, coming back to the present as he realized that the conversation had halted. He glanced between Basil and Marlo, trying to figure out what the last couple of words had been. He remembered the word help and he slowly nodded. "Yes, it would be nice to help any way we could,"he said softly. His insides itched and he wanted to talk to Marlo in private. His interference would likely gain him no brownie points and Basil, as loveable as he was, was a bit oblivious. He didn't want to ruin the Maine Coon's ignorance.

"I'd happily help,"he continued, a little more confidently. Golden eyes met golden eyes as he tried to convey that he wished to talk more to Marlo... in private.
