The Basics

Name: Basil

Age: 2 years

Gender: Tom

Breed: Maine Coon

Sexuality: Straight

Pride: Stray

Rank: None

The Knitty Gritty

Personality:

Laid-back - Despite the chaos that the virus had made, Basil feels so indifferent about it that it even boggles him. Not a lot of things faze Basil unless if it's his life or his loved ones in danger, and one usually could see the big tom lounging around under the sunshine. Basil has no cares or worries in the world and prefers to pace himself slowly, one pawstep at a time. Everything just looks better if you took your time to smell the roses. Yeah, Basil is quite lazy.

Social - Not quite a chatterbox, but this cat enjoys good company and is willing to make new ones if he ever meets cats he has never seen before. He is quite aware of the Prides that are forming and has a gist of how they act, but that doesn't stop this tom from poking his nose around.

Over-protective - Basil keeps his loved ones close, but maybe a little too much. After losing sight of his beloved siblings, he worries over his friends and family so much and will try to talk you out of anything that seems dangerous.

Clownish - He unintentionally goofs around once in a while, something that is part of his Maine Coon genetics. His species matures slower than other cats, making his current behavior seem childish. Sometimes this annoys older cats, but it others find it amusing. Basil prefers the latter, so he can believe that he could at least cheer some kitties up.

Appearance:

Physique - Basil's long, dense hair makes him look huge, and most kits mistake him for a lion. Underneath all that fur is a tom with a solid and muscular body with a broad chest. His tail is long and bushy like a racoon, his paws are huge that he can successfully pin down a small dog with them and his heavy body weight. His eyes are round and are a pale green with dark circles lined around them.

Markings - Basil has a bold, dark brown mackerel tabby coating. Lighter fur frames around his eyes and the bridge of his nose, while his chin and paws are dipped with white. This inside of his small ears are a very light pink, with white fur spraying out of them.

Skills:

Strength - Basil is an absolute tank. Combining his heavy weight and muscle, the amount of power he has is amazing. He's great at fending off cats until more experienced fighters come to take care of them.

History:

Kithood

Basil was weaned and raised as one of the kittens among his litter by a human female who adopted them all. Apparently they were left at the porch by someone else, unwanted kittens that were tossed aside. They weren't even tucked in a box. He was dubbed Basil, while his other siblings were named herbal and spicey names such as Tumeric, Pepper and Mint. Basil was the youngest. By the age of three months, Basil watched his siblings get adopted off by other humans, but Basil stayed with this woman.

He spent most of his time sitting by the window, watching the cars go by and the mountains beyond. Although he liked the company here and the easy food and shelter, Basil felt like he just didn't belong here. He loved his owner, oh yes, but he couldn't stay here. Not for too long. Half a year went by, and Basil picked up the courage to head out on his own.

Juvenile

The young tom sought for the mountains and the thick forests, so that's where he headed first. The scent of pine was strangely comforting to him and he liked the feeling of cool, soft soil in his paws. The climb up the mountain trail was a trip he enjoyed and savored, but he just didn't know why.

He met many a cat, but soon a few of his companions would remark that he would look like a certain female she-cat of the same species. Apparently, the similiarities are much too striking. After further research, this she-cat 'Daisy' was actually his mother but had died in a car accident. Basil was not sure whether to feel grief, for wasn't it his mother who had abandoned them in the first place? The only time he would ever feel grief for someone, was when the plague arrived and wiped out every human on earth.. Including his ex-owner.

He still blames himself for not being there for her.

Based on Maine Coon anatomy, Basil is still a young adult today and his body has barely matured to adulthood.

Family: Big Brother Tumeric and sisters Pepper and Mint are probably out there somewhere..

Strengths:

Strong, socialite, loyal

Weaknesses:

Huge clown, slow, persistent

Misc.
