Maksim
Tag: Zemal; Anyone

Oh. Faerveren.

A shame that she was his main takeaway from the Titan's speech. Maksim had tried to pay attention for the first few minutes, his fingers tugging through his braid, fidgeting. Each strand was like a gut string, and if he lifted his fingers, just like this-- No, there, He could hear the music in his head, the singing of the violins, the lower rumble of the cellos. A whining, zinging rise, ripping through the air like electricity-- It was a very appropriate song, he thought as his eyes fluttered open. The Titan had a ripple to him, as though if you touched him, you might hear the whirring of gears and feel the tingle the zip and snap of static. The music was perfect for him, for this. To bad he didn't want to play.

He heaved a sigh.

Crowds had stopped bothering Maksim long ago. He could remember being shy, before he'd been dragged about as an adolescent. The mass of people here might have frightened that boy, but Maksim didn't care. People were people, and he had seen large groups like this before. He'd been on stage at the Grand Theatre, and he could remember the excitement, the flash of the cameras, the hush of the crowd.... And he didn't miss it.

Not too badly, anyway.

He wasn't jealous of her, at any rate. Performing was a chore. It made you sweaty and tired and zapped your energy like a muggy summer day. Her music wasn't what he was used to, exactly, but he could understand the rhythm of it, could appreciate the melodies. They were good. Not perfect, though. Maybe, there, instead of the guitar-- Keyboarding? More drums. Faster, there. Now, softer. He could see the notes in his head as the song roared through the room, and his fingers twitched, tracing shapes in the air beside him. He ought to talk to her after she was finished. He had plenty of suggestions.

For now, however, Maksim was content to people watch. It was enough to take his mind off the music, and to make him forget just how uncomfortable his uniform was. His collar was scratchy, and his jacket felt a bit too crisp. Maksim was a boy who was used to the soft, breathy fabrics of Iaramira. Foramlities were formalities, of course, but whoever designed this outfit had to be a masochist.

Thankfully, he'd always looked good in white.

His eyes wandered over the stage, across the prince, and settled finally, curiously, on the centaur representatives clustered not too far away. They were strange creatures, weren't they? Did they have two stomachs, or one? Or, three? No-- Cows had two stomachs. Horses had one. But they weren't really horses, were they? Strange. Likely questions he'd never be able to ask in good company, but he was curious all the same. He'd get an answer sooner or later. Somehow. But for now, he was content to wander around and maybe meet some new people. He'd always been good at socializing before, and there was no better opportunity than at a party. Especially when it was a large party, and thrown in his --Well, their -- honor. He straightened the lapels on his uniform jacket, cleared his throat, and moved forward. It was easy enough to slide in between bodies; He'd never been very large. "Sorry," He called out as he shouldered past someone perhaps a bit more aggressively than was necessary. "Didn't mean to. Take my spot up closer, yeah? You'll have a better view of the stage."

Zemal and Ramahendra; tag Maksim

It took a great deal of willpower not to openly flinch when Terminus announced his presence to the audience, and the Crown Prince of Lomira could not help but wish that he hadn't. Granted, Zemal's presence was rather difficult to miss; being flanked by a pair of gryphons with a unicorn at your back did make you stand out just a bit, even when you were dressed in the standard candidate's uniform. Still, he'd have preferred to avoid the sudden scrutiny, every gaze on him like a weight or a brand. It was all Zemal could do to simply raise a hand a wave, smiling out at the faceless crowd instead of turning to flee the hatching arena.

He hated this. He hated that everyone knew his name and his face, that he wasn't able to go anywhere without a menagerie of mythical creatures on top of the entourage of royal guards provided by his... his family, because he still found it difficult to think of Empress Alistiana as his mother. She was of his blood, had given birth to him, but she hadn't raised him. Whatever her reasons were for sending him away, however noble they might be (and he was forced to acknowledge that hiding your child to keep him from getting brutally murdered was a good reason), it was... it just didn't seem fair to suddenly drag him back into a life he'd known nothing about until he'd been stabbed through the heart and taken a walk through the spirit world with the Celestial herself.

"You spend far too much time thinking about that which you cannot change," Ramahendra murmured into his ear, the brightly hued gryphon sitting tall and proud beside him. He would know what Zemal was thinking; the pair were bonded, albeit rather unexpectedly as neither party had been particularly looking to do so. It was what it was, however, and Ramahendra saw no point in spending an abundance of time or energy speculating about things that were beyond his power to control. Hence his quite aside to the Prince. "Besides, it would have been rude for Terminus not to announce us. We are royalty, after all."

"'We'?" Zemal echoed with a stifled grin, glancing sideways at his companion. It was a poke at Ramahendra's pride, and as always, never failed to elicit a response.

"Of course!" the gryphon confirmed pointedly, turning a look on his bondmate. "We gryphons are the most regal of creatures, and have served the royal family for--" He realized a few moments too late that Zemal was deliberately provoking him and fell silent, clicking his beak with irritation a moment later. "That was uncalled for, you ass."

"Did you just call the Crown Prince an ass?" Zemal countered, not quite able to keep himself from grinning this time. He probably shouldn't enjoy ruffling Ramahendra's feathers, so to speak, but it did keep the gryphon's ego in check a little bit. "That doesn't seem terribly regal, or dignified."

"There is even less dignity to be found in distorting the truth," Ramahendra retorted dryly as he looked away--just in time to catch sight of Aurinko slinking into the chambers. The Solar/Crystal gryphon's eyes narrowed, and he gave his beak another click, this time out of irritation.

"What's wro--ah," Zemal murmured, following his bonded's gaze. It didn't surprise him much that Aurinko was late, really, but he did hope that Ramahendra decided to refrain from chewing his proverbial tail feathers off. Now wasn't exactly the best time for such things. Particularly since Aurinko was taking cover behind... what was her name again? Rune, Rain...

"Rhoan," the gryphon provided helpfully. "The new Princess of Etharius. We should go and introduce ourselves. You are the Prince, after--Zemal?"

A sudden jolt of surprise from his bonded prompted Ramahendra to turn and look at Zemal, who was on his feet and staring intently out across the crowd. He'd seen someone for a brief moment, somehow visible amid the sea of white-clad candidates. Someone who looked familiar, but it was just a brief glance... perhaps he was simply imagining things, the victim of wishful thinking. But then again, a flash of brunette hair and fine-boned features, and was that...

Zemal was striding forward suddenly, leaving the royal guard to scramble in his wake and try to make their way through the crowd without stepping on anyone. Ramahendra was slightly more successful in this endeavor as very few people wanted a gryphon clawing them, and the sheer bulk of the avian beast made it a little easier to make his way toward that small, lone figure in the crowd. Surely it could not be, his luck was not so great as to allow this happenstance, his fortune never so grand. And yet it was that same lithe figure, that same long braid, those same, peculiar ears....

"Maksim!" Zemal's voice carried through the noise of the crowd and the concert, drawing more attention than just that of the elf he was pursuing. The Prince was not a small man by any means, leaving Maksim quite helpless when the burlier elf abruptly swept in and snatched him up in a bear hug, laughing heartily and smiling so broadly that it made his cheeks ache. After a moment he seemed to realize that it was probably unseemly for a Prince to randomly assault strangers and lift them off of their feet, so Zemal carefully lowered the other elf back to the floor, though he kept his hands on Maksim's shoulders. "I cannot believe my good fortune, Maksim, is that really you? After all these years!"

Maksim
Tagged: Zemal

A commotion erupted around Maksim, and even after a quick glance around, he couldn't tell what it was about. The song hand't changed, there was no solo. The lights weren't doing anything out of the ordinary, and from what he could see, the dancing appeared ordinary. He meant to offer a further apology to the person he'd bumped (that was a rather hard knock of his elbow, and he was sorry for it), but instead, found him self quite suddenly swept off his feet and pulled into a crushing bear hug.

Confusion mingled with astonishment. Maksim couldn't remember the last time he'd been hugged with both arms, for one. Secondly, he hadn't made any close friends among his peers; Not yet, at any rate. He was sure his brothers weren't in attendance, either, and that didn't leave many other people who'd care to even give him a hello, nevermind an embrace. His head was still spinning as he was set down upon his feet, and once his vision sharpened, his mouth dropped slightly open in shock.

"Sire?" He offered, voice slightly high with his surprise and sudden nervousness. How did you address a prince, again? Oh, shit. "Highness," He corrected himself at once, stumbling over his own words. He hated that, too. Maksim was always in control of his voice and language. Why was it so difficult now? "I think-- Perhaps you're confused." Was that alright to say to a prince, he wondered? How did one go about telling a prince he was delusional, and secondly, would he be killed for it? Probably better to keep his mouth shut, and he would have done so if the man standing before him wasn't still grinning down at him, as if Maksim were missing out on some great secret.

"I think--" He began again, but stopped himself short. Now that the surprise had faded into confusion, he thought he might recognize-- No. Not possible. Yes, their jawlines were similar. Yes, he would have been about this height. And yes, he had the same, toothy smile. But he was being fanciful, wasn't he? And that's what he would have continued to think, if Zemal hadn't opened his mouth to speak.

And the moment that it did, everything clicked.

Maksim knew that voice. How could he not? He never forgot a sound, and certainly not one he'd grown so accustomed to. He could have picked Desneth's voice out of a hundred, if he'd been given the task, and hearing it come from the prince was jarring. What was he supposed to do? Feel? Elated? Grateful? Excited? All he felt at present was numb. Reaching out with his hand and knocking the Prince hard in his shoulder helped with some of the frustration. A little.

"Fuck you!" He shouted suddenly, sputtering with both barely containted enthusiasm and aggravation. "Not even a note? Not a 'Come with me, Maksim. ' Or, maybe, 'I bought you a ticket, too, since I'm a prince, Maksim." Another shove against his shoulder. "Or, 'I'll help you sneak out, Maksim! ?" His breathing was coming fast, and he felt suddenly too warm to be terribly angry. It was Maksim's turn to give the embrace, now.

"Desneth, my ass," He managed to laugh after a few more moments. "Why didn't you tell me!?" He'd been angry before, but how could he stay bitter in the face of their reunion? This is what he'd wanted, wasn't it? "When did you..." He cast a wary eye over Desn--Zamel's entourage. "..Do you think your friends could give us some space?"

Hanna Dawson
Tag: Maksim and Zemal

Hanna had been trying to escape the stands ever since Terminus announced Fae's name and she took the stage. However, since she was trying to move backwards and everyone else was trying to move forwards, it didn't make it very easy. She'd take a few steps back and then get pushed forward almost immediately back to where she was. Needless to say, Hanna's temper-- that infamous, infamous temper-- was flaring and flaring hard.

So when Maksim bumped into her, for Hanna it was the last straw. Her cheeks reddened and her eyes narrowed. She was in the process of turning around to start screaming at the person who'd bumped into her-- she'd caught a flash of auburn hair out of the corner of her eye. Clearly it was Ella, one of the girls who considered herself to be Hanna's arch nemesis in the modeling world, there to push Hanna down and cause damage to her body or something of that nature.

Wheeling about, Hanna's nostrils flared as she realized it wasn't Ella. It was some guy. Opening her mouth to shrilly start berating this guy who'd dared to bump into an internationally famous supermodel, Hanna immediately snapped it shut as Zemal-- a friggin' crowned prince-- approached and grabbed the guy into a massive hug. Oh great, was Zemal secretly like her-- one who preferred his own sex over the other? Now how was she going to seduce him? Oh well, she'd played the role of beard before and would do it again if it meant being a princess.

But when the guy who'd bumped into her began to yell at Zemal, Hanna's wheels began to spin in her mind. She could flirt with Zemal, which may go her way, or she could take the side of this Max guy. Which would garner her more attention? Easy-- take the side of the Max dude and pretend that she gives a flying... whatever, about this guy's feelings. She could ream him out later for daring to touch her precious body.

Gathering her newly dyed locks about her face, Hanna schooled her features into outraged concern and stepped forward, draping her arm across Maksim's shoulders. "Yeah!" she shouted encouragingly before an inquisitive look spread across her famous face. "Wait. What? How could you not know that this imbecile was a prince?"

An arm was draped around his shoulders, and Maksim stiffened. He didn't dislike being touched, exactly, but he didn't like it done unexpectedly. And without invitation. The arm around his shoulders was a bit too companionable for his taste, as well, especially considering he didn't even know this girl very well. He didn't want to be rude, but his shoulders stiffened beneath her, and he didn't waste any time in sliding out from under the gesture. Who was this woman, exactly? She looked vaguely familiar. Pretty, too, he guessed.

But also rude. Did she just call D--Zemal, an imbecile? Brazen. And stupid. He glanced back at his longtime friend, unable to resist cracking a smile, before he turned his attention back to his new... Friend.

"Do you mind taking a step back?" He asked by ways of greeting, and held out his hands, palms up, as if to ease her back like a horse. "You're a little too close for comfort. Do I know you?" He was good with names, but he didn't remember being introduced to her before. Strange, then, that he should recognize her. And none of that was important. Forget that he had just gotten done berating the prince himself; They were friends. It was different. And the only person allowed to call Zemal an imbecile was Maksim himself.

"Did you just call him an imbecile?" His expression was slightly incredulous, and he raised his eyebrows. His back straightened, and he settled his weight evenly, hands behind his back. He almost looked ready to present a speech.

"That's a bit inappropriate, don't you think?"

((Just wanted to get in a reaction to the concert and such before I have to include a reaction to Rivalel too, so consider this more an addition to my last post than anything.))

Anviel Veyanir
Tag: Reacting to events, Rivalel

Almost immediately after Anviel had finished speaking, Faeveren had walked onto the stage and greeted Aesulla. The candidate jumped a bit- she hadn't been expecting the sound of the mic to echo all over the hatching grounds like that, and she was particularly jumpy to begin with because of the ceremony. Before murmuring a quick apology, she spun around in her chair, assuming that she would be expected to listen to whatever the singer had to say. Even if Faeveren was just going to announce the song that she was going to sing, Anviel still wanted to make sure that she wasn't going to miss something important.

The singer wanted the candidates to sing the national anthem. Anviel briefly wondered if the candidates from other nations even knew it, before standing. She had heard the national anthem over and over since she was a child- over three hundred years ago- and knew the words by heart. Although the elf wouldn't admit it, having been raised to believe that Aesulla was awful, she was rather patriotic. She loved the country in which she had been born, and -almost- everything about it.

The singer went on to talk about those that had died in Nondir and couldn't be in Aesulla. Anviel didn't take part in the screaming- she clapped and cheered, but anything beyond that always made her voice hoarse, something she wasn't keen to let happen. The message that Faeveren had been trying to send to the crowd had fascinated the elf. She had led the crowd in a singing of the Aesullan national anthem, and then went on to condemn the killings in Nondir. The one thing that Anviel had never been a fan of was the neutrality policy, and she was quite certain that there were citizens on both sides of the issue as well as those who simply didn't care. Then here came a singer saying this publicly, as if Aesulla were partaking in the war.

Not only was it a risky move, but Anviel wasn't quite sure why a singer would make a statement like that. They weren't a politican of any sorts, and to the best of her knowledge, Faeveren had a large fanbase in countries besides Aesulla. The whole candidacy thing interested Anviel as well. Perhaps it was a bid for political power? Perhaps the singer had gotten tired of simply having a social impact and wanted to be a leader as well, and was trying to gain supporters by assuming a political viewpoint that was apparently- as evidenced by the reactions of the crowd- quite popular. That sounds about right. She decided, as the first song started. She listened for a few moments before something caught her eye.

Prince Zemal- who was quite a conspicuous figure due to the gryphon tailing him- was walking through the crowd towards somebody, whom he then enveloped in a bear hug. They appeared to have quite tender reunion before a girl with dyed hair tips appeared to step into the situation. The person whom the prince had hugged didn't look particularly happy about that. Anviel had at first assumed that the girl with the dyed hair was trying to make the prince notice her, but the fact that she had placed her arms around the person that she prince had hugged definitely made that hypothesis appear to be less likely.

Eh, whatever, I shouldn't care about their person issues. The elf decided, before turning back around in her chair to look at the red-haired elf. Anviel had turned around for only a minute or so, but she still felt bad. "Sorry." She said, looking a little bit guilty. "Just... Didn't want to miss the national anthem! Probably wouldn't look good if I was turned around. I told you my name, right?"

"I don't think i've heard this girl before, but her music seems good! I guess trekking for endless days in the wilderness will do that to you!" Rhoan joked, standing up wobbily to see over the balcony. Children probably weren't meant to be in this area, so it was a bit high for Rhoan to see over. Thankfully, if she stood on her tip-toes, she could see well enough. That's what she got for choosing a seat right in the front. The balcony seemed to dive down a foot or so, to hold things for important parties and the what-not. Rhoan didn't mind it too much. The concert was flashy and loud enough to understand and enjoy it from afar. Giving up and hobbling back to her chair, she made herself content enough to watch it from up top. She'd go downstairs eventually, but with all the writhing people, navigating would be difficult.

Her attention had diverted to the gryphons once or twice, but after a few moments she paid it no mind until another Gryphon slinked into the VIP section. The gryphon, a male from what she could tell, slunk around until he hid behind her seat. Rhoan smiled at him and controlled her excitement as best she could. Instead, she just gave him a look over while Ruya, her dwarf dragon, and Zulradenon, her dragonhound, stared. The humanoid dragon sitting next to her, Rui, blinked before leaning back and placing a hand on Rhoans to hold it. "Hello! I like your feathers. They're very pretty!" It was meant as a genuine compliment, although her knowledge of birds and their preening nature could possibly stroke the gryphons ego a bit. Whatever floated his boat. "My name is Rhoan! What's yours?"

As she spoke, she thought she heard her name, so the young girl turned her head to look at the prince and his companion gryphons. However, it must've been another name similar, as the prince was off the balcony and into the crowd. Thinking nothing of it, Rhoan smiled at the gryphon once more and then checked back on the stage. The music was still going, and the singer was still there. There was still the same pomp and circumstance, but at least it was exciting! Even the singer had found a way to follow the rules with her uniform, but make herself an individual. Rhoan hoped she bonded to a colorful, fun dragon. Rui was perfect for her, so hopefully she'd find something perfect as well.

Zemal and Ramahendra; tag Maksim, Hanna

"Ow," Zemal muttered as he reached up to rub the shoulder where Maksim struck him. It didn't hurt, not really; Maks hadn't put enough force behind the blow for that, especially considering that the Prince was wearing a thin but tough layer of armor beneath his uniform. That didn't keep the royal guard from shuffling in closer, Ramahendra and Atunroria all but plastered to his sides and giving Maksim a bit of a stink-eye. The Prince sighed and rolled his eyes before squeezing out from between them, making a gesture toward the guards.

"I appreciate your concern, but Maksim is my friend. He's not a threat," he reassured them, though they seemed anything but. They did eventually, slowly step back, forming a loose perimeter around Zemal and Maksim to keep most of the jostling crowd at bay. "And I would have told you if I'd known," he continued, a hint of bitterness to his voice. "It's... really a rather long and interesting story if you care to hear it. You should join me for a drink, we can catch up and I'll tell you--"

There was a vaguely slithery motion in the corner of his eye before Zemal saw a rainbow-haired young woman slip past the guards to drape herself around Maksim. Her shouting made him raise both eyebrows in surprise; did he know her somehow? Oh hell, was he supposed to know her? She wore a candidate uniform and hadn't been seated with the other dignitaries, so Zemal didn't think she was royalty, but she definitely carried herself with the poise of someone who thought a great deal of their own person. A friend of Maksim's maybe? But no, his friend was fairly quick in extricating himself from her embrace and took a pose that Zemal was well familiar with, the one that said he was ready to verbally tear someone to shreds if he was given reason to.

"Forgive me, my lady," Zemal began politely enough, hoping he might be able to diffuse the situation before it escalated. "But I don't think--"

A low, rumbling growl split the air beside him before Ramahendra stepped forward, his head crest flared with irritation as he prowled toward Hanna. Atunroria was also glaring murder at the girl; gryphons were a proud species that did not take kindly to insults directed either at them or those they chose to call ally. Ramahendra carefully inserted his bulk between Zemal and Hanna, wings slightly spread as he stepped close enough to the model that his dreadfully sharp raptor beak was not a foot from her face, fiery eyes boring into her intently, unblinking.

"His Royal Highness is the Prince of Lomira," he informed Hanna in a tightly controlled voice. "He is the son of Empress Alistiana, the bonded of Life Titan Yggdrasil, first-born of the Celestial's mortal children. His bloodline is ancient and powerful in ways that you will never comprehend." Ramahendra leaned in a little closer, another faint growl rumbling in his throat. "You will address him with the respect and dignity accorded to his title, or you will not address him at all. Have I made myself clear?"

Brie

Tag: Minerva

The little fjord's attention was drawn momentarily away from the plotting and scheming of Gilys and Karan as her ears swiveled about. A certain familiar voice all but steamrolled her way through the throng of candidates to stand near her. She was certainly happy to see Minerva, though it looked as though the shire 'taur was not having a good time here within the city. She could see the irritation etched in her features, though her attention was somewhat distracted by the fit of the candidate's uniform. Minerva wore it well. At least someone wasn't suffering from the needless chafing.

"I feel like this Faeveren is someone I should know about."

The fireworks interrupted them briefly before she could respond, leaving Brie to shuffle slightly from one hoof to the other in a muffled clatter of hooves. "Whomever they are, they must be popular here, to be so warmly introduced by the Titan." She hadn't quite taken the time to familiarize herself with Aesulla's music. The whole city was a blur of noise, some pleasant, but mostly cacophanous. Perhaps she would adjust in time, but now was not then. The concert would be a crash course in pop as she sidled a little closer to Minerva to draw down her attention.

"Don't stare," she nodded towards Karan and Gilys. "I think they're up to something. Or maybe they've actually done something already...They were snickering about one of the human candidates." she searched the crowd for a moment but alas, all the humans looked nearly identical, even from her slight vantage point. Her search was momentarily interrupted by the sudden increase in volume of the stadium as this Faeveren took the stage. The little fjord came to sharp attention though as the room rose in a unison with the Aesullan national anthem she simply did her best to remain respectful. She hadn't quite learned it yet-problematic, but there was so much else to do than learn unfamiliar songsand generally embarrass one's self. Such was life.

The music however, was a surprise as the words simply faded right into the start of the actual concert. Different from what she was used to, but it did put a bit of a bounce in the little centaur's step as she gently nudged Minerva. "This isn't so bad, is it?" She wasn't entirely sure she could hear her, but that was fine as Brie found the beat and generally tapped along in a hoofed cadence. Perhaps when the concert was over she could listen to it again later, at a much lower volume...so she could actually make out more of what was being said.

Eidolon
Tag: Zemal, Ramahendra, Maksim, Hanna

"Zemal?" A voice radiating with brightness was soon followed by an elf woman even more beautiful than her voice. Her skin was pale and flawless, her haired seemed to flow as if governed by another worlds gravity, its golden shimmer was only out shined by her glowing golden eyes that seemed to hold the sun in it's midst along with the attention and respect of those around her. She wore a flowing dress of white trimmed in gold that draped across her body and though it was sheer it was not provocative. If her presence alone did not make her stand out her lack of a candidate uniform did as well, though the white color helped somewhat.

She stood next to Zemal and reached out a hand, gently caressing the vibrant feathers of Ramahendra. "Be at ease my friend, your reprimand is a just one though you may want to be careful with your fervor. We need not give her nightmares." Eidolon knew the fierceness of the regal creatures and only a fool or one not fully capable of grasping reality would claim to not be frightened by one. The gryphon looked at Eidolon before backing away from Hanna if only slightly. The increased distance did little to lessen the weight of Rama's glare as it bored into the female candidate.

She turned her eyes then to whom Zemal had run after and looked at him with a smile that seemed to brighten the area in a way all the strobbing lights could not. "Ah Maksim, how good it is to see you again. Though you may not recognize me, I remember you quite well." Her golden gaze then turned to Hanna who had not yet spoken her name, "And you are?"

Minerva
Tag: Brie

"Faeveren is my roommate, I have not yet met her." Minerva said as she remained close to Brie. Just being around her friend made her relax a little and her features softened a little. Brie could always make Minerva smile, it was one of the many pleasant effects that the little Fjord had on her. Minerva wasn't really concentrating to much on the humans around her, most got out of her way pretty quickly. her attention was on brie at the moment.

When brie pointed out the two trouble makers Minerva did look to them before turning her eyes back to the stage. "Maybe I should say something to them?" She offered and looked like she might go over to do just that, she wouldn't have any tricks or pranks pulled when her race was trying to make a good impression! However the national anthem started up and much like Brie she stood at attention. She glanced around at what the humans were doing during the anthem, she tried to mimic their behavior and the way they held their hands. After it ended though and the music picked up loud and vibrant she blinked a bit at it and tilted her head.

Brie began to keep the beat and dance to it which made Minerva turn to watch her with a smile. "You like the music?" She asked raising her voice so Brie could hear her, she could maybe get a copy of this woman's music to give to Brie, it was a great plan. She listened to the music and then nodded "Yes not so bad! A little too loud for my tastes though!" She said and smiled a bit as she tapped her hoof along with the song.

"Who did you get as a roommate?" She asked trying to be loud enough for Brie to hear her. She had meant to look but she forgot in the long run. Plus it made more sense just to ask Brie, she would not doubt get a more entertaining answer!

The Lightning Centaur grinned excitedly at Basa as he came to stand next to her. Though she was disappointed that she didn't get a human or elf roommate she was pleased at least to get Basa. She enjoyed the giant centaurs company and knew his tough exterior was not everything that made the sooty buckskin up. "Basa! It's dancing! Well, kinda!" She laughed and grabbed his giant hands in her finer ones and did a few steps from a centaur dance. Though Basa was enormous Aza was tall, though slim, and was not quite so dwarfed by him in height as others were, especially the humans and elves around them. Aza knew that most of the centaurs would not find all this as exiting as she did. There was a lot of change in the world for them to get used to and Fae was just a part of it. Aza was excited for it all, for some others it would take some getting used to and possibly never be fully comfortable with.

"Was Ahmduer around with you?" She asked looking concerned. She had seen her little brother before skipping of into the crowed and though it had hardly been a few minutes she was already worried about being away from her frail charge. She looked back past him where he had come and saw Minvera along with Brie around as well so she felt that he was safe with the herd around him. She turned back to Basa and swung his arms with her. "What dances do you know?"

Basajaun; tag Azarahl

His grip on her smaller, more delicate hands was a gentle, careful one, ever aware of his own ability to hurt someone without meaning to. Basa was not normally one for dancing; his bulk made it difficult for him to really perform some of the more quick and nimble dances his people were fond of. Even so, if they had been elsewhere--back home, perhaps, or maybe even in the new city of Etharius--he might have joined her in her playful little dance. Basajaun liked the young chieftess and her flare for life, but he was not terribly comfortable here in this new place, surrounded by all these strange people and their bizarre customs and too loud... "music".

"He was with the others, and seemed well enough when I left," the massive centaur confirmed, also turning his gaze back to their small group. His eyes narrowed when he spotted Karantos and Gilys grinning between themselves; that pair had a propensity for causing trouble if left alone unsupervised, and Basajaun wasn't going to be surprised if they were already up to no good. Perhaps, when given the opportunity to do so, he should remind them that they were acting as ambassadors for their people and that any sort of shenanigans that might make the other races look down on them were not welcome here and were not going to be tolerated.

"I know a few steps," Basajaun answered a touch hesitantly. He wouldn't put it past Aza to try and talk him into dancing with her, and he wasn't entirely sure he was up to it. "The slower ones, mostly. I am not so good at the faster dances."

Aurinko:

Tag, Rhoan

The music had started and Aurinko clicked his beak as he listened only partially to the speech given in the intro. It wasn't his preference, or Morganne's really. But it wasn't terrible by any means and his feathers fluffed slightly as he resisted the urge to bob his head. Any sudden movement might draw unwanted attention and he so very much did not want to be noticed by family; they would have his tailfeathers in a sling if they noticed he had been that late-though they shouldn't be surprised by any means. Not really, anyway. He resituated his wings as the concert reached a certain crescendo-the anthem was gone and it had rolled right into that sugary pop stuff that seemed unreasonably popular almost everywhere-save maybe Nondir; not that he would know-he'd never had the misfortune to go there.

"Hello! I like your feathers. They're very pretty!"

It was always good manners to stroke a gryphon's ego, and though Aurinko was in no way the regal creature that his family so well insisted he should act like, the osprey patterned avian puffed up ever so slightly. The little girl had quite the entourage and in his haste to hide from his responsibilities Aurinko simply hadn't noticed them all and he shrank, ever so slightly out of the way. There were an awful lot of guards for such a little thing. He would have to tread carefully now that he could see them all.

Rhoan? Where had he heard that before. Aurinko clicked his beak in frustration but simply couldnot place the origins of the name. Something important, yes-well of course, she was in the VIP section wasn't she? Alas the flustered bird brain could not recall and, with the absent flick of his tail he regained his composure.

"My name is Aurinko!" though likely now, it was dead meat, for not being where he should be.

Maksim
Tag: Zemal; Hanna; Eidolon; Ramahendra

...Oh.

That wasn't the answer Maksim had been expecting. Zemal had always taken his teasing in stride before, and it was a bit jarring that it wasn't the same now. Perhaps he could have been a bit more considerate. He hadn't even stopped to think that maybe Zemal hadn't wanted to leave, and that this separation had been just as difficult for him as it had been for Maksim. He rubbed the back of his neck, and glanced away from his friend's gryphon entourage.

Strange, for Zemale to be treated with such prestige. He felt strange and small standing here, in the presence of royalty. There hadn't been any separation between them before. They'd both been a pair of lively boys, rough and tumble and quick to give each other a hard time. And now, there was this. Or, there was the potential for this. Never before had the difference between them seemed more substantial than it did now. Before, it was always Maksim who had things expected of him, who had other duties and obligations and worries. And now, looking at his friend, Maksim felt more than a little sorry for him.

"I want to hear the story." He spoke without hesitation, and with a slight wave of his hand as if to dismiss everything that was going on around them. It wasn't as though Maksim felt he was owed an explanation, but it'd just be nice to hear what had happened. Not only that, but whatever it was certainly didn't appear as though it had gone over well with Zemal. This was a story he needed to hear.

He opened his mouth to continue, and instead shut his teeth with a click as he heard a familiar voice. He didn't recognize the woman standing beside Zemal, but that voice was uncanny. All of this uncertainty was starting to make his head hurt, and it was difficult not to be irritable.

"I don't recognize you," He informed the woman perhaps a bit more sharply than he intended, before he jerked his chin toward Zemal. "And I didn't recognize him. Is there anyone here who looks anything like how I remember, or--?"

Alright, so that came out less than charitable.

"Sorry," He muttered again, and his eyes cast sideways, toward where Zemal's gryphon friend was staring Hanna down. "Didn't mean to snap. I just don't understand. " He frowned. "You disappeared. Why?"

Reid
Open.

Admittedly this wasn’t his most preferred method of keeping himself occupied, but it would do. Reid leaned back against one of the walls that bordered the arena that was currently housing the raucous groups of new Aesullan candidates, the centaurs, the celebrities, the bystanders, the royals, the gryphons…his head was nearly spinning at all the potential problems that could emerge from such a mixed bag of individuals occupying one singular space. Admittedly, most of these individuals weren’t technically his problem, like the royals who would have their own guard to mind them, and the delegates who would likely have bodyguards they’d hired as well. Though that was meant to be understood as stress taken off of Reid’s shoulders, his eyes still darted about rapidly, attempting to take in most of what he could while drowning out the incessant roar of Faeveran’s music.

It wasn’t that he disliked her or her music, he just had other things to concentrate on at that precise moment. He’d volunteered as a hatching assistant once or twice, in the past few cycles that events had taken place, though there’d been a lapse in the last decade or so due to increasing problems in the war and its parties. Although it was a terrible truth, business had increased dramatically with the clashing parties that comprised the parties that Aesulla had recently allied itself with.

Reid brooded silently over the events of the past few months, managing to drown out the roar of the happenings for a short time. Hope had risen and fallen, and the outcome of the battle immediately after the Nondiran graduation had made things crystalline clear in the young elf’s eyes. Something had to change. And it had, in a way. A new Titan had emerged from the depths of a storm, leaving news crews clamoring to try to figure out what was going on, and not only that, but the raising of the dead had been something else entirely. It hadn’t been just the War-Bringer either, but the bones of the long dead Sequoia. How strange it had been to see the old bones of the Titan rise to meet Illirian in battle once again.

For a moment, Reid had almost dared to hope things were over. But rarely was it ever that easy.

Sighing, the elf pinched the bridge of his nose before he loosened his grip and rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache brewing. He looked up sharply when he saw a cluster of two candidates and the prince and his guard in what appeared to be a confrontation, but it was not his business. He was assisting with security, but had little true authority over anything aside from the candidates, and even then his ruling was limited to verbal warnings and reports.

Still, as far as things were going for now, he supposed it could be considered…relatively tame. So long as you could think of angry gryphons, an arriving unicorn, and what appeared to be a hopping, crackling centaur ‘tame’.

Zemal; tag Maksim, Eidolon, Hanna

This was not going at all as he'd hoped it would. It was a true and utter pleasure to see Maksim again. and all Zemal wanted to do was escape with his friend and catch up... or perhaps maybe try to recapture some of his former life, when he'd been content to simply be Desneth the elf instead of His Royal Highness Zemal Sahalon, Prince of Lomira. Of all the people Zemal had encountered during that life (and it seemed so strange now to think of it that way, but everything that had happened in the last few years made it seem as if Desneth was someone else entirely and not him, once upon a time) Maksim was one of the only ones who hadn't been lying to him in some shape or form, no matter the reasons behind it. Maksim had only ever been himself, unapologetically and without remorse.

He hadn't dared to hope he might see his friend again, and yet here he was. But now there were guards surrounding them, Ramahendra looked like he still wanted to bite that girl's face off, Eidolon was standing next to him and he just....

"This is Eidolon," Zemal said, hoping he didn't sound as weary as he suddenly felt. "She, ah... was under orders from the Empress to keep me safe, and did so by making sure no one was able to recognize me. She did a very good job, as I'm sure you can tell. As to why I disappeared..." He glanced around briefly, somewhat uncomfortable with the idea of speaking about it out loud, but then the entire thing had been broadcast on national television. "I don't suppose you were able to watch the last hatching in Lomira, were you? The one I went to stand at?"

Maksim
Tag: Zemal, for now

Damn, but Zemal looked tired.

Maksim felt angry. He was angry that they had to meet like this. He was angry that Zemal had been pushed into this, and he had no doubt in his mind that had been the case. The boy he'd grown up with had never wanted power or prestige. They'd been likeminded, two peas in a pod. And now... This. It felt wrong, prickled at his skin and he didn't like any of it. He wanted to be away, somewhere quiet and safe where Zemal felt free to speak, and not surrounded by his entourage. They made him uncomfortable.

He glanced at Eidolon, but didn't address her directly. Instead, his gaze swept immediately back to Zemal. He drank in every work, stiff and straight.

"I saw it." Of course he did. He'd watched every Hatching in bitterness and jealousy. Probably best to leave that part out, though. Some hatchings tended to meld together after a while, each indistinguishable from the last. Not this one, though.

"A boy died." He frowned. "Killed. We all saw it on the television. I'd never seen anything like that before in my life." And hadn't since. He was grateful for that; The weeks of nightmares that followed that viewing had been enough. He didn't want to live through anything of that sort again. "But I don't remember seeing you there. I looked."

Jealous as he'd been, Maksim had wanted Zemal to do well. He hadn't been able to find him in the crowd, however.

"Did you make it there?"

Zemal; tag Maksim

"Yes, a boy died," Zemal confirmed, voice almost soft enough to be lost in the roar of the crowd and the music still thundering over the speakers. He still remembered it, wasn't ever going to be able to forget (pain sharp deep wrong cold so cold can't breathe can't move so dark so cold.... light?) what had happened that day, but it did surprise him that Maksim hadn't seen who it was who died. Or perhaps it shouldn't surprise him; Terminus had been there and had perhaps censored the event to some extent in order to protect Zemal's true identity, or at the very least make Vicarous think his plan had succeeded.

"And I did make it to the hatching," he pressed on, stepping closer to Maksim to keep his voice from carrying too far beyond the strange little motley group of people and creatures on the grounds. "I didn't know before, that I was a Prince. That I was Zemal, and I'm sorry if you think I lied to you about that, but I swear I had no idea. I don't think I'd believe it myself if things hadn't happened as they did, and if I hadn't..."

Except he was getting ahead of himself and had skipped a very crucial detail. Zemal also wasn't terribly comfortable still with the idea of sharing what had happened after he died, not even with Maksim. His walk with the Celestial felt... personal, somehow, as if it wasn't meant to be shared. Not yet, at least. But how to tell your best friend that you had died and have him believe it when you were standing right in front of him?

"The boy who died was me," Zemal finished bluntly. "Vicarous found out that I was there and discovered who I really was, and he sent an assassin to kill me. He succeeded--mostly. I didn't stay dead, as you can plainly see, but I had to go into hiding so that I could recover and in order to keep Vicarous from trying again."
