Shockingly Shocking

Aesulla was never what one would call a quiet city, there was always the rumbling of engines, machinery, music, and what have you that technologically advanced place created in its every day life, but even so the sounds of this particular street had shifted considerably. The gentle hum of traffic had changed greatly to sudden screeching stops, followed by swerving or speeding away. The streets were more or less clear of civilians as well, though a rare individual or two seemed unaffected by what was causing the panic around them. The source of it wasn't too hard to determine either, as black clouds of ethereal seeming smoke rose just above the buildings before dissipating into nothingness, rising up from the monstrous form of Cauldrons well... Cauldrons. Large clawed prints were left in the road, but as he stepped away small pools of metal sealed the marks level with the street. Flames slowly flowed from the eyes, and jaws of his dark armor, while molten metal seemed to forever pour from his sides into the massive containers at his sides. The skulls that littered his forms seeming to watch all that passed near to him, with glowing red eyes. The giant hammer of his tail seemed to have strange claw marks on it that pulsed slightly red, diminished from his first sighting at the hatchery but still evident.

All in all, he was a terrifying sight to behold, at least to those that did not know him. He had to admit, he liked it that way. It kept too many people from getting close to him, which meant less things to worry about. Less things that Vic could try to use against him- not that it ever worked, but he hated seeing people killed or tortured for no reason. Perhaps now that he was officially out of Nondir he could afford a better image, but it wasn't really high on his priorities. His thunderous foot steps stopped outside a restaurant, and slowly, and carefully he lowered himself down to a lying position and leaned over to order some things into a microphone that was outside for dragons to order through. He could have used his humanoid form, but a lot of people found it just as frightening as his draconic one.

It seemed that the mic may have been redundant once the dragon actually started to order though, as his booming voice could be heard a block away with ease. After ordering an ungodly amount of food, he slammed the lids shut on his cauldrons, quenching the 'smoke' then waited. Chances are he would be waiting for awhile. Regular business started to resume about the city as he remained 'idle', but about a block around the dragon people seemed much more hesitant to traverse, either speeding by, or finding ways around. At least his order alone probably made up for the lack of other customers arriving.

Jack flipped up the collar of her flight jacket and looked down in an effort to keep attention off of her unusual traits. It wasn’t so much that her appearance was unusual. Aesulla was a haven for body modification and unusual appearances. It wasn’t uncommon to see citizens walking around with blatant bioluminescent implants and altered skin colors, even unusual implants. No, what seemed to be Jack’s problem was the nature of her appearance. Plated and wickedly curved horns, glowing red eyes, fangs and claws; all such traits would seem normal on a dragon gave others pause. Her sinister appearance drew cautious stares and sent many folks skittering out of her way as she tried to make her way downtown. It didn’t seem to matter that her jacket was decorated quite plainly with Lomiran bars and various emblems from the Stormsong wing. Her stole was not visible while walking down the street, and the prayer beads she kept wrapped around her right hand were of no concern to the passersby.

Her trajectory was of little help as well. Rather than walking away from the commotion and disruption caused by the rather terrifying dragon known as Cauldron, Jack was moving towards him.

“Are you sure that this is wise?” Iviera had perched herself on the leather sheath that covered the blade of Jack’s glaive. She craned her neck to see where her bonded was taking them, but there was little need to concern herself with where they might be headed. The metal footprints were plain as day. “Cauldron destroyed Vic’s palace and took out Illirian. I haven’t found anything in the temple manuscripts at all about where Luciacresht might be. I need help.” Jack insisted. She had been trying to find him for months, but with Chrono rightly preoccupied with her brood, it was left to Iviera to provide what assistance she could. “What’s the worst that could happen?” she cast a quick glance towards Iviera as the Crystal climbed down the shaft of Jack’s peculiar weapon to perch on her shoulder. “You should have told Chrono where you were going.” Iviera scolded. Jack shook her head. “You could have said something, but you know better. She’d fret. That’s the last thing that Chrono needs right now.” Jack frowned. Usually, Iviera knew better.

Scolded and bitter, Iviera huffed and curled up tighter around Jack’s neck just a little tightly. It was hardly enough to be threatening, but the scissor-like tip of her tail dug into Jack’s jacket a little uncomfortable. It was no matter. They were all allowed to be frustrated from time to time. As the rider rounded the corner, the massive, frightful dragon came into view. Certainly they had heard him before they found him, how could they not? Still, they waited across the street until after the terrifying entity had placed his before moving around so that they were well within his peripheral vision.

“Excuse me, Sir.” Jack gave a small bow. “I was wondering if I might have a word?”

The great dragon before them, as terrifying as he might be, was a little bit hard to take seriously when he was ordering enough food for a small army from the poor restaurant. After he was done though, he was eerily silent as he waited. The thunderous voice, and horrendous noises that appeared when he walked through the broken, and patched streets was gone as well. The only thing that remained was the slow, and subtle bubbling of molten metal at his sides, though even that was somewhat muted thanks to the lids that had shut across the tops of them. It didn't seem like there was anywhere that would escape the vision of some portion of him though, as the haunted eye sockets of his armor slowly but surely all seemed to turn their attention upon the approaching pair, at first it was only the largest but before they had spoken every eye they could see, also seemed to see them. It was... Unnerving to say the least.

The flames in his eyes flared slightly as they spoke to him, and then his head slowly turned to look down at whoever it was that was speaking. A deep breath was taken within, the sound rattling through the armor as if no innards were present, and released in a deep sigh as the dragon leaned closer. Black smoke swirled from its nostrils and encircled the two as it wafted away, but despite this it never touched them, curling away as if they were covered in a impenetrable barrier of some sort. "TIME, WORDS, AND THOUGHTS I HAVE TO SPARE, ASK ME YOUR QUESTIONS JACK, IF YOU SO DARE~!" His words resounded like thunder and hell were spewing forth from his jaws in melodic terror, blasting away the lingering smoke and leaving them feeling exposed and in the open before him. For all his appearance, and sound though, he had yet to actually make a real threatening move towards them.

For a moment it almost seemed like the faint crackle of the flames within the hollow sockets of his armor were whispering to them, soft words, bordering on the faint hiss of steam escaping and tickling the senses as he stared, but then it faded away, or was hidden by the other sounds of the world around them. The faint cracking and crumbling of concrete seemed to come and go as well as he adjusted himself to view them, the weight of the armor covering his massive body much too great for the hardened cement that was meant to carry dragons even larger than him across its surface.

Now how did he know their name?

Iviera pulled her fins in tight against her neck as the massive dragon’s many skulls watched them approach. This was a bad idea, but her bonded would not be persuaded to change course. The little crystal had no reason to think that the great metal beast would be anything but unhelpful and that this visitation was nothing more than a fool’s errand. Her concerns were only made more prevalent as the massive metallic head of Cauldron swung around upon Jack’s gently delivered inquiry. Iviera tucked her head into the collar of Tamaron’s jacket as the thick black smoke billowed forth around the pair. It made for a certainly frightful presentation, but the tiny chaplain would not be so easily deterred, especially when the well being of a friend was on the line.

Jack’s ears pinned back slightly at the hallowed whispers and acrid smoke, but for the moment it was no more than a grand display. While others were welcome to be floored by such a display, Jack was not going to cave so quickly. She had witnessed Selhanzilael in the flesh and that was enough to assure her that there was something worthwhile waiting in the event of a complete disaster.

“I shouldn’t be surprised that you know my name, but that’s a question for another time since I have more pressing concerns.” Jack spoke as the smoke died off. “I’ve been searching for a friend for several months; a seraph named Luciacrescht.” she explained. “We have searched both when and where, and haven’t figured out anything at all on how he just...disappeared.” She paused for a brief moment before continuing. "Is there any possibility that you might be able to help?"

Time dragons, and their riders were often 'braver' than most because they could sometimes glimpse the future to see what was really happening, but Cauldron could tell that for whatever reason Jack just seemed confident enough to not be afraid. He couldn't tell precisely from where that confidence surged, but it didn't really matter to him anyways, it was just impressive for such a small creature. Though, in truth it was all just a display, he was no more likely to harm a random person than anyone, except possibly by accident. He was far more likely to hurt people by accident than many.

The questions seemed to amuse him, and he rumbled loudly as Jack asked so directly. Most offered compliments, or talked about how he had all these grand abilities or knowledge, then pleaded for assistance. It was somewhat refreshing for someone to just say what problem they were having, then ask if he could help, and as it so happened... "TIRED OF SEARCHING, A CREATURE LOST TO EVEN THE TIMES... I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE, AND WE SHALL SEE IF DEATH CAN FIND WHAT TIME CANNOT." He said in a lower, though still thunderous voice, something about the way he worded it sounded chilling... But not as serious as it could have. He made no move to get up, but looked back towards the restaurant for a moment. It seemed like he was thinking. "You'll have to accompany me as I run a few errands, and speak with my... Associates..." one could almost FEEL the smirk upon the great dragons face, even if it was under the armor. There was something that had amused him greatly, but he was not about to spit it out.

...Also it looked like he was going to wait for the food to be done before starting, so that would probably be an hour or so on its own. At least he appeared talkative. Iviera might have wished that was not the case though, as his head came down closer as he seemed to inspect the dwarf crystal. "I have a dwarf dragon too, if you two would like to run off and play." He spoke as if taunting the fact that the creature had hidden initially.

The skulls on Cauldron's armor began to look elsewhere, each one seemed to track another person in the vicinity, except for a few of the small ones nearest to Jack whose gaze did not avert. At this point it was hard to tell whether they were actually inhabited by spirits, or just being controlled by Cauldron himself.

It was a relief that Jack’s gamble paid off. Though not as terrified as most would be in such a meeting, the chaplain’s pulse was still on the rise. Cauldron was intimidating, yes; but not so much so that Jack felt she would come to immediate harm. Cauldron was certainly a powerful creature, but it was not Jack’s place to assume just what he could do, nor was there any reason to aggrandize the death metal dragon. He simply was, and existing was not in and of itself indicative of a need for praise. For a brief moment, the little chaplain wondered if she had overstepped her bounds. Bravado and confidence were a poor substitute for sense and Cauldron was rumbling quite audibly. Not from anger it seemed, but amusement. With a sigh she braced herself for the armored dragon’s words.

“I can do that, at least I think so.” With Chrono tending her nest, there was no pressing need to head back to the hatchery. Whatever it was that humored the dragon, Jack was not privy to it in the slightest. She rocked back on her heels for a brief moment before looking to Iviera. The the little dragon was less than thrilled at Cauldron’s comment but she said nothing. Instead she kneaded the padding of Tamaron’s jacket while doing her best to keep her tongue civil. The last thing she needed was to get sassy and actually kill her bonded.

“I guess that means we’re waiting for a bit, Iviera.” With that, Jack found a place to sit and wait quietly for Cauldron to finish his meal.

It became somewhat obvious that Cauldron did not intend to finish his meal, or possibly eat it at all. When the food finally arrived he just put it on his back, and a metal box formed around it to secure it there. Once it was situated he stood and looked around slowly. This place was less wary of him than Lomira, but it was still hard to find a place that stayed open long enough for him to reach it sometims, this had actually been the third restaurant he'd attempted to order at that seemed capable of delivering food reliably. Some people were just so much more susceptible to his intimidating show and appearance. He didn't neccesarily hold it against them, but it got annoying occasionally, not that he considered... NOT looking so scary sometimes.

"Can you keep up, or need a ride?" He asked with another more evident smirk. He wasn't exactly going to be flying over the whole city, but he definitely moved faster than most humanoids would want to keep up for much distance. He doubted that the dwarf dragon would be carrying Jack either considering that the dwarf seemed to think that Jack was the mount in this situation. "Unless you want to hire a taxi to follow me around... That would be.. Amusing..." He said that last bit with a actually evident grin, the teeth of his mask changing just slightly.

As he began to walk- slowly at first, a metal ladder made of chain and bar-steps fell from the side of his helmet, dangling within reach of Jack. It lead up to the giant dragons helmet, behind his eyes and the skull plate of his forehead. Between the horns there, and actually within the skull that lay atop that helmet were several seats designed for human sized creatures. Complete with 5 point seat harnesses, and some cup holders. If the right seat was chosen, it was actually pretty easy to get more or less the same view that cauldron did. The glowing red eyes of the skull didn't seem to obscure the passengers vision as much as the outside... This was, of course, if the offer was taken at all.

His first stop was several miles away, where what looked like a small mental dragon was staring utterly transfixed on some TVs that were showing scenes from the previous laying season, and comparing it with how things had been going so far in the current one. For whatever reason the death dragon growled at the sight and stomped over, snatching up the mental dragon in one hand then starting to walk off. "Luciacresht, no. NO. I told you why. I'm not going to kill him... Or you... No... Fine, but next time you stay when I tell you to." It definitely sounded like listening to one side of a telephone conversation, and the annoyance in Cauldrons voice sounded dangerous at first, but the tone steadily shifted to what might actually almost be called soft.
