Seraphic Egg
Tag: Lysander

The gigantic egg that lay before him hummed with strange power, as all could see, and feel, even without stepping so close as he did. The very air seemed to tremble at his approach, though the large armor plates ceased their circling and spread open before him as if they were the welcoming wings shielding him from the sun above. He could feel it watching him though, and its gaze felt inescapable, like it saw not only what the man was capable of, but what he had done, and what he had yet to do. The more metaphysical halo shone brighter as he touched it, filling the frail man with a feeling of... Strength, for that brief moment he would no longer feel any illness or pain, but instead an intense power that would outlast all that existed around him. Spectators would see the priest surrounded in a faint golden glow, and a feeling of peace for a brief moment, then as the priests hand moved away mortality returned just as it had been. His illness had not been stricken from him, nor was he imbued with godly might, he was once more a mortal man, and would be until the end.

Something about that thought was more chilling than it might have been moments ago, especially as the halo of the egg seemed to glow softly again. Something was said, but it was only for the priest to hear. The floating armor pieces moved mostly away as he moved back, though one seemed to be floating partially free of the 'pack'. An observant person might realize it was ready to capture the human if he were to fall, an outcome that did not take such a powerful being to see as a possibility of their interaction.

Who else would approach it?

Prince Ahmduar to Rhoan, Nox, & Azarahl
The young prince had been further from others in the past weeks than he usually was. He did still go to classes, and still assisted with Nox's work and accepted some level of help from Rhoan as well. He had kept to himself, even avoiding his sister at times. He had been going to see doctors and likely also undergoing some level of therapy for his mind. He did admittedly feel better now than he did right after things had gone wrong, but even so, some sense of trust or innocence had been broken and the already high strung and often nervous centaur was even more nervous now than playful. Even so, on the morning of the touching, he had stayed inside his room longer than he needed to, willing himself to go.

It was probably long enough that the others were beginning to worry that he'd gotten into trouble again, which made him feel a little guilty. His tragen was doing what it could to calm him, and in time he felt confident enough to head out. His uncle, Idazon, was there waiting for him, and the two of them walked the distance to the grounds, the black shining centaur waiting until the smaller one had rejoined his friends and sister. Ahmduar didn't mean to, but he approached his friend Rhoan first, chatterign with her about the eggs they would be allowed to touch, and to Nox, asking him which egg he thought he'd try to touch first? It was after them that he turned to Aza, wondering what she herself was up to. “How have you been, Aza? Do you know what egg /you/ want to touch yet?” he asked, curious.

Tag: Void - Glass/Metal Izanami

It was probably one of his prouder moments...not actually flinching when the glass dragon swooped down to eye level, clearly not happy with is presence or his words. Even better he didn't shrink away from that hot gust of air that made his braids fly back. To fairly honest Nox was too shocked and maybe a little terrified to do anything else that exact second. It may have worked to his benefit though in giving the elf an appearance of bravery? His black eyes went wide and he bowed slowly at the glass as he quickly gathered his wits again. Her harsh words stung a bit, but perhaps he was being unfair to the other egg even with the whispers and rumors surrounding it. If that's what it takes then he will do so. Dragon riders are supposed to be brave aren't they?

I would be happy to touch both with your permission. It would be an honor to do so Lady Izanami. He rose up again, despite the small nagging fear in the back of his head the elf spoke honestly. When Nox saw the bubble open up, a begrudging invitation, he relaxed just hint and walked in. Once inside he quickly found out that the great glass decided to seal up the entrance again. This is nothing that his little Merlot can do just yet. Despite the implications of being trapped Nox had to marvel a little at the dragon's control over her element.

He didn't waste to much time marveling and turned his attention to the interior of the glass nest. Nox made his way slowly to the clear egg with something inside it first, respecting Izanami's demand. Now that he was closer the elf can make out most of the dragonnet's? features through that clear shell. He suddenly realized it can probably see him with those blue eyes. The blond spoke softly to the dragonnet as he approached, his hands signing at the same tempo of his words.

Hello my name is Nox and its nice to meet you. He paused before reaching out slowly to gently brush his fingertips over the shell. Just around where the back side of the head is visible through the egg.

Teagan arriving, waiting for Rurik to finish

Nervous fingers traced over the new scar that decorated her ear as Teagan finished getting dressed. Despite how long she had been in Aesulla, the prospect of having new, clean clothes was still a shock, even if they were uniforms. Thankfully she had a distraction for the occasion in the form of her newly bonded companion. Oreius was a handful even before they had bonded and their tussles had done a number to several of her uniforms. In a roundabout fashion, the tattered linens provided a comforting sense of familiarity. So did the scar that had formed upon her ear following the scuffle during the welcoming ceremony. The rough and tumble of Nondir could not truly leave Teagan; at least, not yet.

I am coming with you. Oreius insisted as the small tragendire tried to follow Teagan out the door for the second time. “I’m not going over this again, Oreius.” Teagan sighed. “I’m not allowed to have pets in the touching. It’s not safe for you.” the exasperated candidate ran her hands through her hair for the third time as the bearlike creature huffed and sat back on his haunches. "If it is dangerous for me, how is it any less dangerous for you?" Oreius huffed. Clearly his bonded had some sort of unfair double standard that kept him from exploring as he pleased. Teagan sighed before closing the door and going to open the tragandire’s kennel. “It just isn’t.” the little spitfire insisted. “Now do I have to lock you in the crate or will you actually behave while I’m gone?” Green eyes watched the disturbingly dark tragendire as he paced back and forth in front of the door before finally flopping down on the floor in a lazy sprawl. "If I stay can I have pizza when you get back?" It seemed a fair enough trade. Not wanting to argue, Teagan caved. “Fine. But you stay here and don’t make me regret not using the kennel.” Teagan shooed the tragendire away from the door before slipping away to reach the Touching Ceremony. She was already late, though not by much as she departed to meet up with her younger brother.

Rurik was not hard to find amid the other gathered candidates. His messy orange hair was unmistakable, even in the crowd. Adjusting her flat cap, she gave him a wave before coming up beside him as the crowd.

“Do you think I look alright?” It seemed a silly thing to ask but before becoming candidates, there was no reason for either of them to have ever been concerned with such a thing as their appearance. Still, they were learning. With a sigh and a small smirk Teagan reached over to adjust Rurik’s collar. “There, now you’re all set.” Of course, she wasn’t all helpful as she ruffled Rurik’s hair before following the throng of candidates. She made it halfway through the door before a familiar furred shoulder brushed up against her leg. She looked down to see Oreius by her side. The tragendire glanced up at her without a care in the world before trying to head in through the door, only to have Teagan scoop up the ursine creature with a grunt of frustration. “I thought you were going to stay put. We talked about this.” Teagan was exasperated. The fishbone markings across the tragendire’s body flickered as Oreius pawed at the air ineffectively. "I wanted to make sure you got my pizza. I like anchovies, remember?" With an apologetic look to Rurik, Teagan shook her head. “Go on without me. I’ll find you when i get back.” she grumbled, carrying the ursine creature back to her room.

====

Wrestling with a tragendire that could liquify himself at his leisure was not the easiest of tasks, but after some struggle, poor Oreius found himself in a tragenproof crate. It cost Teagan several moments as she missed both Gauge’s greeting and the blessing from Lysander. She scoured the grounds, expecting a reprimand from someone, only to find that most everyone was either too busy visiting nests, or flitting back and forth investigating which eggs would be used to leap forward in time. It was no matter. What was important now was finding her brother. Several moments of searching brought the boy into view and, much to her surprise, it seemed that Rurik had already visited a nest. She was plenty proud of him after watching the interaction with the rider and two eggs. She waited near the edge of the biome until Rurik was finished before waving him over.

“How was it?” Teagan asked. “Is everything okay?”

Irasotiel; tag Braelyn.

While she was not immune to the effects of being frozen in time, nor was she capable of discerning all that had happened during those moments, Irasotiel knew almost instanty why Gauge and the rest of the Time dragons were present on the sands. She knew as well of the importance of their duties, the necessity of it, and knew that none of the eggs taken were going to come to harm. It simply wasn't their time to hatch yet, for all that they had been already laid. She did not presume to know the intracicies of timelines and individual destinies; that was more Zeliniel's forte.

But for all that she was honor and duty bound, no amount of knowledge or comfort was enough to make her want to willingly give up her eggs.

It was strange, this mortal compulsion, this emotional drive. The Celestial plane was not devoid of love or devotion, but never before had she ever felt the desire to go against the better good because her emotions and instincts demanded it of her. These were her children, her flesh and blood. How did Selhanzilael do it? How did she create such life and yet still distance herself from it all?

She was not one to question. She was a good, obedient servant. If Selhanzilael willed that her eggs not yet hatch, then she would not interfere.

That did not mean she had to be happy about it.

Candidates were filling the sands, though they made the Seraph less nervous than the Time dragons did. Normally, when around such large numbers of mortals, Irasotiel preferred her humanoid form. It made her more approachable to them, less threatening, both things that were of great import to an envoy. Something about motherhood and the fierce drive to defend her nest kept her in draconic form, however, and so when the tiniest centaur approached her, Braelyn was dwarfed even more than normal by the massive dragon.

Being the soul that she was, however, Irasotiel more than made up for it in consideration. She moved slowly, and laid down across the sands so that she might lower her head to view the tiny, delicate rose that blossomed from Braelyn's hands. It was a thing of beauty, truly, and she hummed a soft song of appreciation as one large talon reached out to ever so carefully accept the fragile gift bequeathed to her.

"What a lovely gift you offer," she murmured, carefully tucking the rose in among the ice and snow that Cernunnos maintained for the health of their egg. It would never melt there, not so long as the great lion drew breath. "Thank you, Braelyn. You may touch this egg, and the others if you so choose."

Princess Azarahl Nlaruxan, Lightning Centaur
Tag: Ahmduar, Rhoan

Since the events that had happened to her brother the white streaked centaur had been a blaze of intimidating looks and threats to any stranger that even glanced at Ahmduar. She knew she was here to represent her people to the world and forge new bonds but it had been these same people that had attacked her brother in such a horrific manner. She did not blanket them all as sick beings as she had met good kind people more than she had not. But she couldn't help being wary when it came to her brother. She had no problems imprinting her shoes on the face of anyone who dared insult or harm her, but Ahmduar was to easily taken advantage of. She had promised from the moment of that snake bite she would protect him and yet had fallen short of that promise when he needed it to be upheld the most. Sparks flickered through her mane and tail as she recounted the night in her mind once again, stomping a hind hoof in agitation.

Even now she wasn't by his side. It had been promised to her that extra care was being taken with the Prince but hadn't that already been promised? They wanted her to continue on as a candidate and she didn't mind that, what she minded was when that took her from the side of her brother. Idazon was with him now she was sure but she was growing increasingly anxious and paced around in nervous circles at the entry of the Hatchery. She was momentarily distracted when an enormous dragon, a Time she thought, then instantly realized at that size it was The Time. Gauge the Time Titan. What she said brought her mind back to the current event, the Touching, and its missing candidate, her brother. She was not mad that he was late, but she was increasingly worried. She should have shrugged off what she had been suggested for her to do and just gone to his room till he was ready. Spinning around gracefully she proceeded to stomp away from the eggs and the crowd heading back the way they had all come to find her brother and make sure he was alright. Katci was to far to ask her to get in contact with Callisto so she was gonna have to go find out the way she preferred anyways.

She was immediately relieved when she saw him swiftly running toward the group with Idazon at his side, looking as okay as he normally did these days. She was both happy and perhaps a little jealous when he ran to his friends before her first but she figured she was more happy. It filled her with confidence when seeing he was still able to find friends among these people that treated him kindly and sincerely. She trotted up to the group nodding a greeting to Rhoan, they were technically of the same rank she had decided upon meeting the young girl and though Aza was not a stickler for formalities she knew it was important to keep in mind and show respect.

"There are so many to choose from, eventually we shall have to greet Araselnasaa's eggs. It is only polite we make an effort to. But for now do you see that cool wispy looking egg in the nest of the Koi fish looking dragon?" She gestured toward Water/Luck Benzaiten's nest. "I wanna go see that one, I know we can't touch it but perhaps we could offer it a gift? I wonder what it would like."

Braelyn touches the Ice egg

Even with the seemingly gentle demeanor of the seraph, Braelyn felt the icy trickle of fear climb up her spine as Irasotiel reached down to pluck the delicate rose from her outstretched fingertips. Her tail flicked cautiously as the centaur stood perfectly still until those claws were well and away from her person. It dawned on her through the whole proceeding that it wouldn’t really matter if she could see where the Seraph kept her sharp bits. The dragoness was so large that the tiny fjord was little more than a snack in her presence, although she was a well meaning one. Even the eggs that were close by dwarfed her general size which left her at only very tall for a human. As the rose was tucked in neatly with the snow and ice nestled around the base of the egg that she had come to observe, Brae bowed again as she let go of the breath she had not meant to hold. “Thank you. I promise, I will be very careful.” She assured the seraph.

Cautiously. The little fjord taur approached the ice egg more closely before giving it a quick once over. With their shared element she remained almost certain that she would not need gloves to touch the seemingly delicate oval. She carefully placed her hand upon the frigid shell as she traced the contour beneath her palms. “You seem like a tranquil sort. I hope you find yours all in good time, regardless of when or where that might be.”

Glass/Metal Izanami
Tag: Nox

Another breath of air left the Glass/Metal at the words of the elf, though less displeased this time, perhaps the Lady made up somewhat for his digression. She was satisfied that he would show proper attention to both her eggs and watched him intently as he approached her adopted egg first. Though both eggs were separately encased in glass it was completely clear, like it wasn't even there. Indeed compared to the thick outer wall the glass surrounding the eggs could not be noticed until one almost stumbled against them. They were not much larger than the eggs themselves and allowed perfect vision of that which they protected. An open circle could be seen in front of Nox as he walked near the egg, just the size for his arm to comfortably fit through and reach the egg, true to Carpathians suggestion the glass edges were smooth and not sharp in the least.

The egg responded to Nox as soon as his hand touched the waxy shell. It was fragile, and extreme care was needed to avoid damaging it. There were a few very tiny holes near the top of the egg, where the air pocket was located. The creature inside, if a dragon indeed it was- had grown from a grub-like thing to an even bigger, scaly looking needle tailed worm with blue eyes at this point. As the hand touched the egg, three long tongue-like things snuck out of the shell through these holes and moved up to touch at Nox's hand. They felt only a little prickly and were a tiny bit ticklish, but were overall gentle in their exploration, looking like they were trying to lick up salt from the elf's hand. The tendril-like tongues snuck back into the shell a few moments later, curling up into the creature's mouth, where it remained contently fidgeting its scythe-like bladed arms.

Averon
Tag: Isra/Ahtian

One good thing that could be said about Averon is that when he did something it was almost always done right, the bad thing that went along with that was that he rarely did anything unless asked... Although he was at least decent at keeping up with chores and such around the apartment he shared with the centaur Myre, and dealing with whatever Akiko needed. The Tragendire was arguably the more responsible of the too, and probably outgoing as well. She was also a much better alarm clock than the devices in his room, since when they went off they didn't push him out of bed, unlike the mirrored Tragendire. Such was his fate today, as he instinctively shut off the alarm clock moments before it activated, he was greeted by a sudden head butt to the ribs, and then pushed off his bed onto the floor. He landed with an oof, then attempted to pull the blankets over his head, before they too were taken from him.

...A loud sigh came from him as he remained face down on the floor, shirt bunched up oddly around his chest, and one leg half caught on the edge of the bed. he could sleep like this, it wasn't too cold really. "It's the touching today," came the voice of his tragendire as she stared down at him from the bed. "Don't you have friends going there? and also, if you're too late someone will show up to drag you there!" There was a long pause as he raised a hand. "The floor is smooth right?" He asked as his hand went limp again and fell to the ground once more. One might hope that there was a good reason he was so tired and not wanting to get up, but unfortunately there was none. He just didn't especially feel like doing anything ever again, at least for today.

Akiko realized this might take drastic measures, and was beginning to contemplate whether to just start biting him, drag him out herself, or perhaps seeing if Myre could convince him to stop being a slug. Eventually they came to an agreement, he would get ready to go, and she would take him to class before it was /too/ late. A few minutes later he emerged with his uniform on, and his over-sized coat on top of it, as usual. What left the room though was a somewhat disgruntled looking Tragendire, with a dwarf dragon asleep on its shoulders, the dwarf dragon happened to have a candidate badge, and a very familiar coat upon it though.

She stood on the people mover, silent and brooding till she reached the end where some of the guards were waiting to make sure the candidates were proper, and no one was entering that shouldn't be... Such as young Tragendire, or dwarf dragons... Well, unless the dwarf dragon belonged to a rider, or dragon within. Akiko stopped in front of them and glanced around for a suitable candidate, not finding one she puffed up, then stood up on her hind legs, grabbed the currently dwarf candidate and chucked him through the open doors before turning around and heading back towards their room.

Averon woke up when grabbed, and had just enough time to catch himself as he was thrown to avoid crashing into the ground, when he tried to pull up though he noticed there were a lot of people around, and in his attempts to not crash ended up darting between a few of them, as well as underneath at least one centaur that came into his path before he managed to pull up and land on someone. He shuffled his wings and fixed his coat, which was more vest-like at the moment, though the edges seemed to meld into his wings. His crash-course had gone surprisingly well with the number of people there, even if he had gotten a close up with some centaur anatomy that he hadn't intended to.

Once he adjusted himself he flit down to the ground and was once again himself, there didn't seem to be much of a transition, instead a dwarf flew down, and a human landed. His coat swished around him for a moment then settled as he walked across the sands aimlessly. His distaste of crowds led him to some of the less visually impressive eggs, though as he watched he noticed one spin on its own and spark slightly. Huh... He shrugged and wandered over, casting a momentary glance to Aterrimus with a small wave.

"So--" He stopped himself and actually looked up at the dragon, seeming to think of something. "I'm Averon, nice to meet'cha. I was wondering if I could touch your eggs." Man, that sounded weird to him, and slightly icky, but seemed to be what everyone was saying. "I've got some rubber gloves for the sparks, but is there anything else I need to do, or worry about?" At first he sounded somewhat uninterested as he introduced himself and requested to touch the eggs, as if it was simply something that was expected of him, but as he continued genuine interest seemed to appear. He knew about eggs in general, but there were always some outliers or strange ones, and it wasn't always obvious which were which.

(( If someone wants a dwarf dragon to have briefly landed on them, feel free to have it be one of your characters. ))

Zemal; tag Yggdrasil/Alistiana, Eidolon, Maksim.

There was really no such thing as discretion when you were a prince. Perhaps if that was the intention, or if he somehow managed to sneak away from his near constant entourage of bodyguards. Doing that was a feat in and of itself, given that he was bonded to a gryphon and the unicorn had been with him since he was just a babe in swaddling clothes. Both were at his side even now, Ramahandra on his left and Eidolon on his right, the former's fiery plumage contrasting the latter's more subtle, regal pale fur and golden hooves. At least they were his only guardians at the moment, the half dozen or so Lomiran soldiers that normally accompanied him decidedly absent.

Zemal stood behind much of the rest of the candidates with his head bowed as the blessing was spoken, though he barely listened to the words. Though he made every effort to keep his features calm and neutral, there were those from whom he was not able to hide his unease. Ramahendra was able to feel it easily, and surely Eidolon was familiar enough with his mannerisms to notice the tightness about his features, the way his hands clenched and his shoulders were drawn rigid. The Crown Prince was not at all certain that he wanted to be here right now. In fact, he was quite certain he'd rather be anywhere else.

"You are the prince," Ramahendra murmured to him with a sideways glance. "Your place is here. As the Empress' only child, you have a duty and an obligation to her and to all of Lomira."

It was a reminder he did not need, nor one that he wanted. Zemal elected not to answer as the blessing ended and the candidates began to disperse across the sands. He very much wanted to find Maksim so that he might hide once more in the memory of being simply Desneth, but it was almost impossible to single anyone out in this crowd. Besides, as Ramahendra had so helpfully pointed out, he had duties to attend to. There were well over a hundred eggs on the sands at present (which definitely explained all the Time dragons), but there were two that he was honor-bound to visit first.

And they were the two that he most wanted to avoid.

There was nothing wrong with the eggs themselves. They were quite lovely and were bound to have many admirers both because of their looks and because of their parentage. One was a Fate egg, the other Life, and every time he looked at them Zemal couldn't help but feel the cold bite of a dagger in his back, the sudden difficulty breathing, the strange, otherworldy feeling of being somehow drained away...

He gave himself a shake, forced himself to breathe. That's not how the story was going to end this time. Things were going to be different.

He felt like he was going to throw up.

At some point Zemal had started walking, though he wasn't sure when. All too soon he found himself mounting the dais where Yggdrasil rested, her rider not far away. Stopping some distance away the Prince bowed formally, the creatures on either side of him echoing the motion in their own unique ways. Did she expect him to call her mother, he wondered? Was it too informal of him to do so? Was he even capable of it?

"Empress Alistiana," he began, his voice stronger and calmer than he himself felt at the moment. "Lady Yggdrasil. I come before you and humbly ask for permission to touch your eggs."

Space/Dark Horizon
Tag: Distress, Zeliniel

Being a parent filled Horizon with a sense of wonder he did not expect to come from such a small thing. Though truly anything created by his wonderful mate Distress he would marvel and this egg they created together was no exception. He felt proud looking upon it as the comet streaked around its shell, sometimes lazily, sometimes agitated, and other times playful. He spent a lot of time while at the nest giving it objects to play with. Interesting rocks he had found, small celestial objects from space he seemed to pull from the vast void of his own body. It interested him to see what their child was interested in and what it flung away, sometimes back at its parent as if offended to be given such an object. So many eggs in other nests were boring and uneventful and he snorted at the thought of watching over such a boring sight.

The small comet circling the egg seemed to become sluggish for a moment, or had he imagined it? He felt sluggish himself and turned to Distress to see if she had noticed the odd sensation as well. He need not as her as it was soon revealed in the giant form of Gauge commanding the attention of all. He quickly noticed the multitude of Time dragons beginning to approach nests and upon hearing what was to happen a sad pang filled him deeply. His brilliant hide darkened to the depths of space, somewhere cold and dark, something utterly saddening about the place came to mind when one looked upon the distant stars whose light seemed dim and distant. He knew it was to be so as a Time Dragon approached their own nest, their only egg. Despite Distress's continued attempts to expel the dragons from the vicinity of their nest he knew it would happen eventually. Gauge knew those that would relinquish and those that wouldn't. That they were approached was enough for him to know their egg would be Time Locked. The thought of the orbiting comet coming to a half saddened him deeply but he knew it was not his place to know the effect their egg had on time. He trusted the Court of Time and one year was not long to wait.

Convincing Distress was going to be another matter all together. He could not blame her in the slightest. This was their first and only egg. They would go from parents waiting to see their child enter the world, to suddenly gone from the Hatchery. He let her send the dragons away, even if he had quickly come to terms with their egg being taken he didn't have to convince Distress right away... As she sent the lot of them away he nuzzled her gently and lay his long body against hers at her request, reaching out with his long neck and nuzzling the comet gently, sending it into and agitated spiral around his nose for a moment before it resumed its previously uninterrupted path around the egg. He rumbled deeply in amusement adding a small chip of meteor to its current collection as if in apology, his hide exploding in an array of colors as it represented another part of space. This one full of colorful nebulae and bright suns.

Soon though another approached them, Zeliniel, the Seraphic/Time dragoness. He felt honored to be in the presence of one most holy and bowed his head with respect. He listened to her words and they were what he expected them to be. He indeed trusted his egg completely with the Time Dragons and the word of a Seraph was one to be taken completely. But, he felt it was not his decision to fully make.

"Thank you for your words Zeliniel Chroniacresht, I trust our egg with you completely. It is not fully my decision to make, it must be Distress that grants permission."

Shockingly Shocking

Last Minute Arrival

There was another nest near the candidates that had been mostly eclipsed by the other dragons, perhaps it had been late to the laying or laid its egg elsewhere and just recently arrived. Her nest was new, and a little hastily constructed, it was just a good thing that the egg required little more than sand to prosper within. The egg itself was a decent sized golden sand egg, a strange glowing halo projected from a point just above the shell, glowing and shimmering softly in the light. The colors of the egg seemed to constantly flow from one side to the other as distant dunes and winds were blowing within. There were many shades of gold, yellow, and tan sands in the nest, swirling outwards from the central point where the egg lay, though the mother appeared to be very carefully setting stones atop the designs for the candidates to walk across so they could do so with the least amount of disruption to the little nest.

The dragon to whom the egg belonged was a spirit dragon, her form slightly whispy and white, gold seemed to tip her scales, and was emblazoned across her antlers and claws. As she gazed out across the candidates, and finished paving the way for them (literally) it became obvious that her eyes didn't match, one was a deep cerulean blue, while the other was golden. She seemed a little nervous of the touching but put on a smile and lay back in her nest with a sigh of relief, glancing around the sands one last time before fixating more upon the candidates than anything else, and attempting to look non-threatening.

Mahasarmasael to Selena & Mantella
The great, dark violet and gold, dusted burgundy Celestial quietly observed the candidate before her. She had watched the girl walking up, and much like Mantella, was fully amused by the girls foolish ignorance. There were other eggs- Two others the candidates could see, and both of these had no visible hindrances to being touched. She was an intimidating creature, and as she moved, lowering her long neck down to peer at Selena, whisping blue glow flared from her eyes and mouth- a default normal thing that was often the case, beneath this glow her eyes looked white. Swirls of gold twisted over her fur, and she seemed to be of the longer bodied type of dragon, with two pairs of arms and one set of hind limbs. She exhaled over Selena, a deep, sinister chuckle in her voice.
“Go ahead, touch it if you want. Did you remember your gloves? I do hope your teacher trained you well in the ways of how to touch eggs such as this...Do watch your precious fingers, wouldn't want to lose them now, would we?” she spoke, flicking her deep blue tongue out for a moment. “Come now, don't be shy, my child would love the company.” She grinned, showing her fangs. It seemed a little late now for the candidate to back out, unfortunately for Selena. At least the Celestial had given the girl a clue, given that the egg in question seethed with heat, as well as had a smell to it that was almost like volcanic fumes.

Sonic Tonare to Maksim
Tonare was laying half on her side with her front propped up, almost like a sphinx. She had been spoken to by the time dragons before, and this time was no different. She knew to trust the time dragons- It was thanks to them that she and her mate were even alive now. She accepted their decision, but was glad that they would still be able to meet the candidates now before being bottled up.
The red Sonic dragon (*2) smiled softly at Maksim, her soft wind-chiming wing plates tinging as she ruffled them a little. “The music is all around us, all you have to do...Is listen.” she said, reverently, tipping her head to one side. The sound of people talking, the tinking of scales and various background noises blending together at some points, musically so. The sounds seemed to condense and swirl, a sound riveting over the fire egg and making the harps strings thrum to accent the sound of the living-music around them. She opened her eyes and gazed over the man, humming softly. “There is music in your soul, how it itches to play. Go ahead, play to your hearts content. Play for us, and yourself. My little one would enjoy that, I think.” She purred a little tune to him, tucking her feline-canine looking paws under her to listen.

Maksim to Sonic Tonare and Fire Egg

Being in front of a dragon was always going to be humbling, wasn't it? Even now, Maksim felt in awe of the dragon who lay before him, elegant and proud. Her brilliant colors, vividly scarlet and gold, were almost identical to the colors on the egg. No surprise, right?

He blinked as she spoke, a little half-smile crossing his face. "Thank you," He murmured. "I appreciate the chance, ma'am."

There had been a time when he was younger when he'd have wholeheartedly agreed with her, when he had taken inspiration from the sounds around him to create music. He'd fallen out of love with it as of late, chained to it like a prisoner to a wall. Even as he tried to distance himself from it, it always called him back, like a drug.

He nearly didn't sit down. He fought with himself instead, confused at his own sudden, irrational anger. This egg had never done anything to him; So why, then the shame? Guilt? Did he truly feel guilty for leaving his craft, or was this simply regret that he'd spent so long on it, only to choose something else now?

He sat heavily beside the egg, emotions confused. He reached out to pluck the strings, froze when the sweet music vibrated from the touch of his fingers. This was quite unlike any instrument he'd ever played before, and he harbored a momentary worry that he wouldn't be able to figure it out. That was foolish, of course; Instruments and music came as easily to him as breathing, and though he did spend some time carefully trying the strings, he soon understood the touch required to play.

And oh, did he play.

It started out slow and sweet, practiced and classical. It didn't take long for it to dissolve into something else, however; Frenzied and quick, fingers flying over the strings in a rush to keep up with his mind. He played for release: Release from the bitterness he still nursed toward his father, regret over his solitude, grief for a passion loved and lost. He spilled it into his music as he played, brow knit, eyes shut, completely oblivious to everything but the music and the egg.

Prince Idazon to Teagan
The older prince, uncle to Ahmduar, was left standing on the sands as the little prince pranced off with his friends, leaving Idazon to his own devices. The centaur prince paced off, watching other candidates, pondering where to go next. He had seen Teagan and her sibling in the halls, but hadn't stopped to chat- He didn't want to bother them right away, feeling the siblings needed time to catch up, though he did still want to check in with Teagan to make sure she was still okay. Of course she'd be okay, he chided himself, the incident had happened over a month ago and it wasn't as if the wound was still fresh. Even so, he still made it a point to check on things anyway because he cared. So, he trotted carefully up beside the pair walking together- or at least, he started to, when a dwarf dragon shot underneath his body as he walked, quite literally skidding over unmentionables on its way, making the prince utter a wholly undignified whinny of surprise and dismay, followed by jittery hooves in place and a quick dart in a circle as if he could do so to see or catch the thing that dared to scoot under him in such a fashion.

When it became obvious he'd lost sight of the creature, he stood there awkwardly for a moment before somehow gaining some composure and hoofed his way over to the other two, his face burning with indignation, which he tried desperately to hide. “Ah- Greetings, Teagan, Rurik...” he said, greeting them both, having remembered her siblings name. “How do you two fare this morning?” he managed to ask, his tone trying to level out as he kept pace with them, easing into a slow medium step, so as to not go faster than them.

Fire Egg to Maksim
As the music began to play from its own harp strings, all the feelings and emotions welled up inside it, feeling the mood and tone of the song. After a minute or so, as if to compliment and flow into this sad tale of a tune, the egg began to play along with him, for every sad note, it made a cheerful one. A tune forming, dancing between the dismal past and the hopeful, potential of a bright future. It was like magic, pure magic unbridled by elemental category that swept through those fingers and hidden hands upon the strings, inside and outside the egg. It was not just the wish of a hopeful future but a promise, deep and true that played and rang out in a symphony of light- and indeed, a glowing light was radiating outward, surrounding the egg and the player of songs. To Maksim, the inside of the column of light spread and shot high into the sky like a beacon, upon the inner walls of the red and violet light were visions of places around the planet of Noveltellus- real places, some he might know, some no one had seen in centuries.

There was a feeling of reaching out to touch them- and for a moment, a brief, singular solid ten seconds, Maksim and the egg left the hatchery and were quite literally at the top of a mountain somewhere in the world, overlooking fields of flowers under a sunset, where stars were beginning to form- On the other side of the world. Near them, a worn hard to make out stone building with statues. But the trip was so fast, and so engrossed in duet were they, that he may well have missed such details, for moments later, they were again upon the sands as if nothing had happened at all. As the song began to ebb and fade as it flowed to a close, Maksim might well feel that while there had been true magic there in the shell, it had not been enough to do whatever the song wanted of it, for now. The light faded, and soon the egg was just itself, thrumming strings along, countering every negative note with a positive one, speaking through music. Even Tonare could not hold back her own tune, and she let her own soft voice give note to strings, for a few moments anyway. It wasn't her song so much as it was theirs, after-all.

Tag: Thanking Ciosa, snapping a photo of Seraphic Egg in passing

"Yeah, I've gotta makes sure the little egg doesn't snatch my camera." Justin joked, taking a few steps back after Ciosa had warned him before touching the egg. The picture had been given to her, and Ciosa lifted his spirits with a little wink and giggle before dismissing him. There were many other eggs to see, and while Justin wasn't necessarily sure which one he wanted to see next. By now, other Candidates like he were speaking to dragons across the sands. In the center of it it sat the large Seraphic egg. From what he could tell, nobody had gone to touch it yet. Justin couldn't blame them. Lysander had touched it, but wasn't that part of his religion or something? It was hard to pay attention sometimes.

There were a few tech eggs he wanted to touch still, but he felt as though it was a crime to ignore the gigantic Seraphic presence in the arena. Without many people around it, it did set it up to be a pretty fantastic photograph...

Stepping forward a good bit, approaching the looming egg, Justin couldn't help but be awed for a few moments. The gigantic egg loomed over him, objects hovering around it in a calm fashion. Not really sure what to expect, Justin took another step forward and snapped a polariod photo of the egg, watching the egg's movements through the lens for a few moments. He couldn't shake the feeling that something about this egg was pretty monumental. To be fair, it's size was definitely that. Pulling the camera back down from his face, he set the strap around his neck so he wouldn't shakily drop it in the presence of his next egg and mother dragon.

MOD NOTE Justin waited for the photograph to show, and after a few extra seconds, Justin thanked his lucky stars for his strap around the neck. He almost dropped the photo himself as he stepped backwards hastily. The egg was surrounded by TONS of invisible Seraphs. Gaping at the polaroid once more before the empty space around the egg, Justin stifled a yelp before shoving the picture into his pocket and shuffling past the egg in an attempt to get further away before he was discovered. If anyone tried to steal the picture or look at it, they wouldn't be able to see the Seraphs unless they touched the egg previously.

Distress
Tag: Horizon, Zeliniel

Another dragon was approaching, but Distress wasted no time returning her mate's affectionate nuzzle. She knew she was being difficult, but she appreciated the patience that Horizon was showing. It was unfortunate, and Distress knew that the eggs would be taken eventually, but the idea of giving up her first egg was, well, distressing. Her namesake preceeded her, it seemed. As the approaching figure came into vision better, it was none other than Zeliniel, the Seraphic Time. She felt Horizon's head move into a respectful nod, so she did the same, although not as low.

Distress had prepared an argument already for the Seraph, but as the dragon approached... her aura seemed to wash away many of Distress's concerns, even calming her. Claws could be felt relaxing, and muscles untensing. Thus was the presence of the Seraphs. Her word was practically law, and could be measured on the great scales of life for it's truths. To be approached by her was an honor, and suddenly Distress felt sheepish for kicking up such a ruckus. It was easy to forget that Zeliniel would be in the presence of the eggs as well, given her Time alignment. Her words of reassurance did made Distress feel better, and it took a couple of moments for her to speak. Thankfully, Horizon filled in the gaps. Ever loyal was her mate, and it warmed her heart.

Panning her gaze over to their precious egg, Distress sighed and closed her eyes. "Yes... I understand. I feel rather foolish for kicking up such dust, please do not take it to heart, or offensive. It is very hard, but the reassurance that our child will be returned to us is enough to help me get by." She murmured, opening her eyes to meet with Zeliniels. "Thank you." The pangs of loss were definitely present, and there wasn't much else for Distress to say. Instead, she gave another respectful nod to the Seraph before panning her vision back to her egg, watching Horizon's baubles and space artifacts circle around it with the mini wisp satellite.

Cernunnos
Tag: Irasotiel, Braelyn,

The presence of the Time dragons here were not a surprise to the Nature dragon, Cernunnos understood their importance as well as Irasotiel, coming from the Celestial planes themselves. However, Cernunnos was probably sure that he never would've understood the emotions that went with this process while looking down. There were many things he probably never considered, but living and breathing within it now was a different matter. Protectively brushing against Irasotiel with his tail, he breathed another flurry of ice and snow over their Ice egg to keep this thoughts preoccupied. The eggs that required his attention would be fine in statis, but while they were here his attention was needed and willfully given.

"I can tell you aren't happy, nor am I. But we both know the customs, and I have faith." He grunted, the only words he'd speak of it unless Irasotiel wished to converse. He didn't want to rub in the fact they were 'losing' two of their eggs to time, as it was only temporary. When they returned, they'd be just as they were without a second delay. Keeping to his work and casting protective glances over at the Nature and Water egg, it wasn't until after the gift had been presented that Cernunnos noticed Braelyn. Which was funny, because with that many legs Cernunnos probably should have heard her approach. Either way, he was very pleased with the offering given to his mate, and he chuffed happily. "What a beautiful gift, young one."

A low rumble, possibly a purr, began to vibrate from his throat and he gave Irasotiel a quick nuzzle, careful to not distract her from watching Braelyn touch the egg. Cernunnos felt a twinge of fear himself, although he kept that scent to a minimum. Being so close to their children made him nervous, but the Centaur was gentle which he appreciated. "Thank you for your gentle words." Cernunnos bowed his head to Braelyn. Closing his eyes, Cernunnos willed a flower to grow in front of Braelyn, slowly of course, to not startle the young Candidate. When it bloomed to it's fullest extent, a pale rose had taken the place of the tiny bud. Being the first creature to touch their egg, Cernunnos had wished to gift the gentle soul. Turning back to his work on the Ice Egg, he left Irasotiel to finish her workings with the Centaur.

Rhoan
Tag: Ahmduar, Azarahl, Idazon (brief mention)

"Ahmduar!" Rhoan smiled, seeing Idazon and Ahmduar approach the sands. Other candidates had already began to touch eggs, but he hadn't lost much time being only a sliver late. "Good to see you!" She gave him a rub on one of his sides before he zipped to Nox and then his sister. Aza had given her a little nod of greeting, which Rhoan returned. Following with a smile, he approached the two and listened in for a moment before pulling out some gloves from her backpack. "You two can use these if you come across some that need these gloves! They're heat resistant and rubberized for the different types of eggs." She handed them to Azarahl, who began to speak about a wispy egg that they wouldn't be able to touch. Noticing that Idazon was walking off, she gave the Centaur a wave before sitting back and listening to Aza and Ahm. This wasn't her event, but she was more than willing to help the Centaurs with their Touching today, especially Ahm if he requested it. And even then, like the gloves, when he didn't.

Teagan, to Ida

It was nice to see a familiar face that was neither family, nor a disgruntled roommate. As Teagan waited for Rurik to find her, she briefly removed her hat to rake her fingers through the mess of red tangles she called hair. It wasn’t regulation with their uniform, but she’d be damned if anyone was going to get her to take it off just yet. Her own fussing would be a small blessing for Idazon. She didn’t see the princely centaur’s moment of awkwardness which was certainly for the best as there was no guarantee she would not have laughed. She wasn’t spiteful, but for such a regal character, Idazon had some of the more amusing reactions among the folks that she had seen.

“Hello Ida.” she straightened her cap as her hand briefly covered the small scar across her cheek. “I’m doing alright for now. Had a rough start with Oreius this morning.” she gave a small shrug. “Rurik already visited a nest, but I’m going to see if he wants to stick together before for the others.” She gestured towards Chrono’s brood that her brother was leaving from. “I’m guessing their mother had to depart for a moment. Makes for a less intimidating visit, yeah?”

Ice Egg to Braelyn
The ice egg was quite cold to the little centaurs hand, and at first it seemed as if nothing would happen, until Cern made a flower. As if inspired, a bounty of icy flowers and plants sprang up around itself and the centaur, icy butterflies forming out of frost and fluttering around of their own accord. It seemed the egg was not to be outdone by its father, or wished praise for its efforts, as slowly more icy creatures began to form from frosted ground until it had made what looked like a scene out of the deep woods, complete with solid ice trees, grass, birds and animals. There was a definite sense of amusement and playfulness from the egg, as well.

Touching the Egg
Tag: Mantella and Maha.

Steeling herself Selena took a deep breath and stood up straighter. She knew dragons were intimidating, she knew they were fearsome beasts to behold. However she also knew that if you showed fear to most critters, even humans, it typically spelled your doom. So she didn’t show her fear even though it was creeping into her heart like a cold vice.

“Well, sir,” she began “My momma always used to say, treat others how you would like to be treated and when that fails treat em like strangers.” She explained with a sweet smile “Momma never dealt with dragons though.” The country bumpkin said she then nodded to Maha “Thank you, Ma’am. You honor me.” She said and held up her gloves “I got my gloves, momma didn’t raise no fool.” She said and pulled her gloves on before looking the egg over as if trying to find a spot to touch it where their weren’t spike. Finally she nodded a bit and reach to gently touch on of the spikes along its side. She was careful to avoid the tip of the spike and didn’t linger for long.

With Bells in her hair.
Tag: Braelyn, Irasotiel (Water Egg)

Minerva was excited, so excited she could barely hold still while Braelyn did her hair. When she got out to the field for the touching the large centaur shook her hair a bit letting her braids flail some and her bells jingle. She wasn’t with Braelyn but soon regretted it as they were informed that centaurs most likely wouldn’t breed this time. How did they know? They weren’t allowed to pick who their brood bonded too? Unless they were...perhaps she had missed a chapter when reading about bonding. Regardless she felt it was immensely unfair and she wanted to give someone her strongly word opinion on the subject...still she was there to touch because they couldn’t possibly know right?

Minerva walked a bit, being careful not to step on anyone before she spotting Braelyn again amongst the crowd. She looked at the nest she was at and then walked over to it as well. Braelyn seemed enchanted by the Ice Egg which she couldn’t blame her for that. She smiled at Irasotiel and bowed before the dragon. “Greetings, Irasotiel, I am Minerva Lykais, if you would allow it I would like to touch the Water egg.” She said her voice clear and confident “I will understand if you turn me down though.” The large Centaur said and tucked her gloves into her belt, she wouldn’t need them for the water egg. She did take a minute to smile at Braelyn, she would accompany her around the area after this if at all possible.

Rurik to Teagan and Prince Idazon and moving to Iza’s nest

It didn’t take long for him to find his sister, who had finally managed to corral her tragendire to stay in her room. He took his place by her side with ease, and smiled, the anxiety melting to a more manageable level. It looked like she had arrived to observe him visiting a nest by himself. No one seemed to mad that she was late, because they were all busy. Now they could visit nests together. Though he was quick to notice that she wasn’t alone. A Centaur stood next to her, already in chat, and he approached with slight caution. He had not met them, but he showed respect. He remembered they were royalty and as such needed a bow or something. Though he was slightly surprised that he knew his name.

“Greetings, Uh, It’s a pleasure to meet you, Sir.” He bowed, wonder and surprise in his posture. This day was just filling out with surprises. “I am doing alright. A little nervous and excited.” He moved to stand next to his sister, his hands already wringing his shirt with nothing to tinker with. “So, which egg should we all head for next, that is if, you wish to join us. I wouldn’t mind the extra company.” He was always willing to make new friends. He took a glance around the hatching sands before he spotted a nest that only had two eggs, and no visitors currently. The dragon--shattered hide sparkling in fascinating colors entranced the boy and her eggs looked just as spectacular, though he couldn’t guess what they were from here.

“How about that nest?” He pointed to Glass Iza’s nest. There are two eggs, and not too crowded for dragon or eggs. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind some visitors.” With a smile, he moved them towards the nest, not straying too far from his sister. He didn’t want to get lost like last time. Soon they stood before her and the glass dome that the mother had erected around her eggs. Rurik supposed it was a natural thing for a mother to do to better protect her eggs, but it did add to the intimidation factor. But he swallowed it and smiled not wanting to spook the mother or do anything incorrectly to upset her. He was, after all, at her mercy.

“Greetings! I am Rurik” He bowed, trying to hide the intimidating anxiety that settled. It had been easier with Jack and her smaller bonded but now here he was talking with a large dragon. One who guarded her nest with jealousy. But Rurik was brave. He paused looking at his sister, deciding that he should let her do own greetings before they asked to touch the egg.
