As much as he wanted too, Nox didn't over stay his welcome in the glass nest. The music beat from the little tech egg will be knocking around his is noggin for the foreseeable future that is for sure. With a quick bow of thanks to both parents he wandered back out into the sands. Apparently the elf leaving was perfect timing as he was gathering courage to approach another nest chaos bloomed almost everywhere it seemed.

First the bright column of light and the judgement from the seraphic. Nothing like this was ever mentioned in training! Then just at the nest he recently left there was more carnage. Nox could only stand in shock as a fellow candidate and a few others fled out of the glass dome. Sweet Celestial! Was that girl missing an arm!? He really wished he wasn't wandering the sands by himself this moment.

Nox bit his lip, he expression was pensive as he starting walking aimlessly between the nests again. It was comforting to know that the medical teams here had a great response time. With out even realizing, being lost in thought, he wandered close to a great Steam and Forest nest with three eggs. The smell of chocolate wafting around was what gave him pause. Maybe he wasn't so aimless after all. Chocolate was a rather comforting smell. Nox looked over and saw the brightly colored water and forest eggs first before he noticed the third. The chocolate smell was coming from the last little red? No not quiet red, the color was hard to pin down since it seem to change over the shell. Hard to tell at the distance he was. It seemed safe enough. "May was well..." the elf signed to himself mostly before gathering his courage to greet the parents of this nest. Straightening his posture up to be respectful he asked with a slight nervous tenor to his voice.

"Good Morn...er, Afternoon Lady Kumonryo. I was wondering if it would alright to touch your eggs? They are all very beautiful."

Marcus; tag Ostoglos

He should have known. He should have fucking known.

Marcus went still when the area around him grew dark, and that was his first mistake. Running was a wiser course of action, but in the end he wasn't sure if it would have made much of a difference. He had just enough time to look up and see teeth and the hellish red glow of bioluminescence, to smell the horrific fetid breath that washed over him, and then he was snatched off of his feet and swallowed whole.

Almost.

Tired as he was, Marcus was not about to go down without a fight. There wasn't really much he was able to do as he was worked down toward the back of the sea dragon's throat, kicking and thrashing and screaming the whole way. There was nothing around him but slick muscle, strange tendrils that glowed with light, and the occasional rough surface of what he could but assume was her pallate. Still, he squirmed and shouted and grabbed, digging in fingers and heels and elbows in an effort to slow his descent. It was difficult to breathe, and even when he managed to gasp in a lungful of air it was disgusting to the point of nearly making him retch.

But he wasn't going to die here. Not without a fight. He spotted them suddenly, weird tendrils in her throat, and maybe it wasn't a good idea to grab something that might just yank him right down into her stomach but that's what he did. Marcus reached out with his biomechanical arm and latched onto one of those bastards with all his might, locking the joints of his fingers to keep them from accidentally slipping free. It wrapped around him in turn, and for a horrifying moment it seemed as though it might just crush him to death then and there. For some reason, however, it relaxed, leaving him panting and covered in spit but otherwise unharmed.

And then she spoke to him.

Hearing her would have been impossible over the grinding of teeth, but her voice seemed to enter into his thoughts. That did not make them immediately easier to decipher, not with a panicked Agrius screaming into his mind--the Tragendire kit had ignored all protocol and bolted onto the sands when Marcus was snatched and was howling like all get out at the water's edge, occasionally shooting hot gobbets of molten metal that just seemed to bounce off of Ostoglos' skin--but she made herself heard nonetheless.

"Rest?!" he echoed, sounding more than a little hysterical even to his own ears. "Oh yeah, I'd love to rest. Just not fucking in here!"

Fire Egg for Faeveren

At first, the music began to sound similar to that of when Maksim had played- the rhythms of harps, but the sound changed, the strings lengthened, the shape of the gold instrument's strings billowing outward until it was, in some means, similar enough to guitar strings. It wasn't the full instrument, but it sounded identical, even to the point where it began to work in what it remembered of a song she'd sung, at least, the background music of it.

Chords strummed, sound flowed, and again, the red glow flickered up and around the player, giving visions of places far Elsewhere. These visions truly were unlike any 'vision' eggs typically showed- For if Faeveren chanced to look about her as these otherworldly spaces flashed by, she would realize she could smell the flowers, feel the wind, taste the rain in the air. Was truly there herself. This place was a different place than what Maksim had seen- This was some kind of temple on a beach somewhere. But once more, there was not enough power within it, and the light faded back into pure song once more.

Idazon to Teagan {who isn't expecting her to reply}
There had been so much to process that the Centaur Prince could only sink down onto his legs once he got to the medical tent with Teagan, whom had eventually passed out, much as he would have liked to do, though he had his own rounds with various medical aids on the grounds- Some of whom apologized because they specialized in large animals, specifically horses- There weren't any Centaur doctors here, after all. There was a lot of work to be done to him- Apparently he'd bruised his hooves, which was a big deal, especially since he'd managed to drive the nails in his shoes a bit further in than they originally were. The good news was that it was caught in time.

The other issue was that, as his body took the shock of his kicking of the glass prior, he was now beginning to actually /feel/ it, and he didn't have the luxury of feeling silly with all the warm heat pad-blankets over his equine parts, since he was too busy feeling tired. Eventually he began to fall asleep, muttering apologies to the already passed out human, whom he'd somehow managed to fail in protecting, not that he could have known the glass dragon would react that way.

Narcida to Averon
The pure gold dragon had been busy making what looked like some kind of golden pendant, a centerpiece of some sort of oversized necklace. Woven around it was a crystal, likely created by the currently sleeping Valyss. When the boy strode over, however, Narcida looked up from her work in an elegant fashion, crooning in greeting. Why, hello there. You have good taste,... She smiled, clearly won over by his compliment of her eggs. You may touch my eggs, of course! Hrhhrh,...Ah, yes, Glos does seem to be enjoying ah....Herself.... She said, itching her nose a little. If you have any questions, to let me know!

Of course she was only /playing/ with him, she only killed people here that deserved it, and she rarely had to do so more than once before others realized it was not a good idea to fight anywhere she could see you upon the sands. It was fortunate, and unfortunate that she had a lofty view due to her height, and excellent vision... As well as eyes pointing in many different directions due to her multi-face... Thing. Her abilities were also incredible after such a long time, enough that she could very carefully sense the tiny creature as it slid down her jaws and nearly throat as well. The tendrils grip was more or less automatic, but at least she was able to relax them so he wasn't squeezed to death.

She could feel his grip, it almost pinched, but what he had gripped upon did not seem that effected by such a force. When it flexed slightly he could feel the servos and motors in his hand whine faintly as they had to momentarily fight not to let go. The glow on the tendril tips dimmed and seemed to nearly go out, before they glowed again with a soft golden color. It took her a few moments to respond as his hysterical tone caused her to laugh deeply, the sound gurgling and terrible as the massive of flesh about him jiggled with the sound, bits of spit and soft tissue rolling against him. The precipice ahead look all the more terrible as it moved in such a way.

-Don't want... Private room..? Very soft, war-war-warrrm.- he could feel her concentrating, and having difficulty with her mental speech. She was cursed, albeit not literally, with difficulty in communicating to others. Her mouth was not made for speaking, and her mind was not either. Her intelligence was always under estimated as she lacked a good way of showing it to others. In the past this infuriated her, but now it was merely a terrible annoyance at times.

It was around then that she started to care that someone appeared to be spitting vaguely warm marbles at her, and peered down more pointedly at the Tragendire. The metal wasn't hot enough, nor was there enough of it to really hurt her, but it was very rude. Her eyes seemed to glow just slightly as a large drop of water seemed to form up around it. It was strange though, it seemed impossible to swim out of, as if the water was running inwards from every angle just a little faster than one could swim. After a moment a small bubble of air appeared around its head, but not until it was just about to be forced to take a breath regardless of its situation.

She wasn't completely heartless though, and he did have a job to do (though she expected he might get the day off now). So she took his request to... Well, really she just didn't want to get nagged at by Narcida for the next couple hours, and tilted her head downwards towards her nest. There was the horrendous noise of a throat being cleared, followed by those strange tendrils feeling like they had almost become liquid and slurped down into a slit at the edge of her throat below him. He didn't fall, forward or backwards for a moment, but then the sickening sight of her reverse peristalsis rolled up against him, squishing him between unfathomably strong muscles that carried him up to the tip of her jaws, which spread just the tiniest amount and dropped him on his feet. It felt like he had been kneaded, pounded, and maybe a little bit crushed on the way up, but when he fell to the soft sands he was completely unharmed, the physical exhaustion was gone, as was the fishy smell and drool. It looked like he'd practically just gotten out of the shower with fresh clothes.

The location of course, was right in the middle of her nest with Narcida and the others, there was a terrifying grin across her face(s) that seemed to spread in every direction. "Ahl beh-eh-er... Jeh-ehst beh-ehn fohr-ehnd-leh ehn heh-ehl-elp fohl." She patted a empty spot in the nest as she eyed him, it was right beside her massive glistening white hide, she seemed to think he should rest there. Obviously he'd want to hang out now after the favor she did for him. "Puh-peh cah-ehn cohm ehf eht seh-ehs soh-reh." She gestured to the Tragendire vaguely.

Averon
Tag: Narcida, Glos

He was glad that Narcida appeared to be a reasonable sort, and not too strange thus far despite her choice in company. He briefly admired the necklace she was making but nodded when she said he could touch the eggs if he wanted. He didn't doubt that Glos was enjoying herself though, since she was... Doing... something it seemed, he really couldn't be sure what. "Can you tell what sort of metal the eggs specialty will be when it hatches yet?" He asked as he approached the water first, his hands dipped into the water and he let them become closer to the temperature of the water before he very gently ran his hand across the delicate shell of the water egg. It seemed like he had learned enough to safely handle these things, almost like he'd done it before. As he took his hands out of the pool something seemed to stick to it, which turned out to be some sort of crystal ball full of little replicas of a sea scene? It came loose and he nearly dropped it when his hand was out of the water, but his brow was furrowed greatly as he stared into it. There were little bits of coral and sparkly fish, he wondered if they were real, or if it was some sort of trick with tiny materials in there.

"...I think the eggs are trying to convince me to make my own shop for nick-knacks." He commented to Narcida as he dried his hands and let the gold dragon look at what the egg had produced, before putting it into one of his very deep pockets. He briefly warmed his hands before placing one on the metal egg, though it turned out that it was warm enough that the act had been unnecessary. It was smooth, and slick, and upon close examination he could definitely tell that it was platinum that was littered around it. That would be one expensive nest. He lingered there for longer than intended when he saw the giant sea monster drop one of the attendants out of its horrifying jaws. He did NOT want to know what that person had been requested to do in there.

When he looked back there was a small hand mirror sliding out of the egg and sort of pushing against his hand. If he had not been in the presence of polite company-- Wait, no, he didn't care /that/ much, he face palmed somewhat and half hid a groan as he took the mirror. It was beautiful, and more expensive than anything he owned most likely. The egg was a great craftsman, but why in gods name did ALL OF THEM GIVE HIM MIRRORED THINGS?! "Thanks. It's very nice, and... Thoughtful of you." He said politely as he sighed and took a step away from the eggs.

From this point on, assume dragons owned by me will accept any candidate to touch their eggs. Keep in mind that Maha will warn people about her eggs but will let them make their own mistakes if they do something stupid. I will still attempt to do egg-replies, though!

Ahmduer/Rhoan touch Seraph Egg,......
With a completely innocent air about him, the child-prince of the Centaur people approached the giant egg, alongside him the young human, both touching the shell at the same time. The egg was warm and caused them no harm. Much like everyone else, the touch had lasted only moments, but much was said within their minds. A choice, a single, one time offer of Ascendance. The golden light that had smote the other candidate washed over them both, bright and holy, a beam rising around them, until it faded and disappeared. Ahmduar felt a calm resting upon him, a knowledge imparted upon him. “What do you think, Rhoan?” he asked, prancing on his hooves. “I think we should stay. Gotta' whole life ahead of us!” He half whinnied a giggle and flicked his tail a bit. He didn't entirely understand everything that was said to them, they were still young after all, but he did understand that going to heaven now would mean they got to skip out on living- Not that he expected to do a whole lot more of that as it was, but he wanted to live as long as he could, anyway.

It was incredible to touch the Life egg. In a moment, as soon as she touched it, a flood of positive feelings made their way inside her. There was hope, there was peace, and something just felt right. It was only after touching this egg for a few moments that Anviel finally felt the vines curling up her arm, braiding themselves around her wrist and settling in a band, almost like some sort of bracelet. Once this stopped, Anviel removed her hand from the shell and took a step back, staring up at it in surprise and a bit of wonder. She ran her other hand gently over her wrist, feeling what the egg had created. Everything felt so much clearer somehow.

"Thank you," She murmured, almost reverently.

She moved to the Fate egg. This one was larger even than the Life egg, and Anviel gazed up in wonder at those halos before she moved to touch it as well, with the same hand. Like she'd expected, visions ran through her mind, hazy and dark and impossible to interpret. Then, there was a change, something bright and clear in the middle of that confusion, that vagueness. Anviel removed her hand and shook her head, trying to make sense of it. Perhaps in time, she assured herself. She couldn't help but wonder, but she felt that trying to interpret visions from a Fate egg would be a fool's venture.

Anviel returned to Yggdrasil's platform, kneeling and bowing her head. "Thank you very much, Lady Yggdrasil," she said, her voice much calmer.

The elf departed walked onto the sands, gazing around the hatchery. Her eyes rested, again, on the Seraphic egg- how could they not? The thing was positively massive, commanding attention and respect from probably everybody in the room. And indeed, despite her better judgement, Anviel's legs began leading her towards the elevator that could bring people up to see the eggs. Her feelings were strange and mixed- on one hand, the walk felt solemn, as if she were going to attend a funeral. On the other hand, she was not scared, not quite as nervous as she had been even when approaching Yggdrasil.

As she got to the elevator, Anviel paused for a moment. She took her phone out and snapped a few pictures of the flowers on her wrist before putting it away again, for no particular reason except that she didn't want to forget. Afterwards, she pushed the button and stepped onto the elevator to take her up to the Seraphic egg. It was quiet in the elevator, calmer than the rest of the sands were. It was nice to have a moment like that. She was still not aware that this egg she was approaching had already vaporized a candidate.

Anviel emerged from the elevator and surveyed the scene at the top. By the egg itself, touching it, perhaps, she saw two figures, a centaur and a human or elf. It wasn't long before Anviel spotted the dragon's mother, a glorious Seraphic. She approached her, kneeling as deeply as she had before Yggdrasil. She had heard the name of this Seraphic before, from the other candidates when they were discussing this massive egg, but it was slipping her mind at this moment.

"Great and honorable Seraphic," Anviel finally chose a way to address the egg's mother. "I humbly request your permission to touch your egg."

When permission was granted, Anviel moved off a bit to the side, waiting for the centaur and its friend to finish with the egg. She would touch it when they were done.

A series of unfortunate events

There were moments, as Guage looked over her work, and as other time dragons came to report things to her, that the Lord of Time became...Confused. Instances that would have happened one way were changing in real-time, whole chains of action fizzling into neither visibility nor blackness, only uncertain haziness. There was a common thread linking these events, a person, specifically, around whom time seemed incapable of touching. The Titan eyed him, a huffed snort escaping her. She didn't know why this draw happened but there was literally nothing she could do about it, other than try to prevent anything worse from happening.

Elsewhere on the sands, one of Araselnasa's eggs had recently dropped one of the tall crystal spears. This was a semi-frequent occurrence, nothing unusual at all. But today, the sun was at just the right position in the sky. Light filtered through the open dome high above the hatching grounds- But the dome itself had a sliding ceiling, which was just partially outward from the mechanism on the rim of the opening. The sun was filtering through this glass, magnified, and pointed like a laser directly onto a bright, almost clear quartz spire. The others had been multi-hued, but a few were more clear, like this one. The light struck it at just the right angle, sending a cascade of light in all directions, bounding between the many crystals before the heated light exited, pointing at a lava egg. The distance made it more faint, but the infinitesimally slight change in temperature excited the volcanic-type Lava within the shell. Not long before, thunderous hooves had run by, spewing lava in their wake, the elemental energy hung in the air, waiting for the right moment. And like a catalyst, a train-wreck in slow motion, everything began to fall dreadfully apart.

The Time Titan had a moment's notice, her head turning slowly to the nest where no mother dragon currently was- The nest of Chrono. Her neck twisted around the other way as she followed the thin beam of light upward, gaze quickly connecting the dots, but seconds too late.

The Lava egg began to rumble, smoke, thick and black and full of hot ashy embers began to spew up, the ground directly around the nest shaking with force. Rivers of hot molten stone and metal ran down the eggs sides, spilling profusely outward in a ring, scattering a couple candidates who were near it. Guage bellowed to a Time dragon closest to the nest, who dove down and snatched up the Ice egg, right as a tiny ember landed on it and turned that spot of the shell a sickly gray, a tiny crack in the outermost shell appearing. If it had been a moment later, the damage would have been irreparable.

The volcanic egg, meanwhile, was not quite done. It stilled for a moment, the shell seeming to contract and expand a little as a shot of lava sprang into the air, sending an explosion of ash and embers high into the air, clouds of thick smoke issuing from several natural occurring heat vents.

If this had been all, it would really not have been quite so bad. However, right at that moment, an Air dragon somewhat near this scene was trying to keep the air around her nest clear, and fanned her wings, whipping the air, and blowing the smoke in a different direction. It was only natural, of course, to want to protect her little air eggs. What she did not realize in that moment, was that she had sent this hot ash toward a different nest, one belonging to an albino peacock dragon and her tail-amputee mate. Neither of them saw the still warm clump of embers hit the ground until much too late. There was a yell, again from Guage, whom once again had seen a trail of chaos forming unusually slowly and too close to the events. She bellowed to many of her Flight, issuing orders. They scattered, grabbing all manner of odds and ends to use as shields, some physically flying down to pick up eggs of various dragons. It was an emergency, clearly.

The seconds clicked, the Albino looked down, hearing a hissing sound- much like a lit fuse. She had heard this sound before, and knew it to be too late. She flared her wings and made an alarmed shriek noise, yelling at her mate to pick up the egg closest to him while she grabbed the other egg. She urged him to get up and away from the nest as fast as his wings could allow, her screams echoing to any nest within fifty or more feet from her- and more likely it was more than, given how loudly a peacock could scream. Dragons around them dove, doing the same thing they were, wither shielding their eggs with an element or just grabbing them and flying away.

It only took the span of about five seconds for all hell to break loose as the fuse burnt into the gunpowder-smelling egg, a smoldering scream-noise issuing from it like certain fireworks. Except this was the sound of the dragon inside, as the pressure and ignition set off much too soon. And then it exploded, literally. Shrapnel shot everywhere, heat and flame suddenly came in contact with oxygen and created a fireball that rocked the grounds like a bomb. Razor sharp eggshells, like metal blades, flew further than anyone would have guessed, peppering the sands and nests with what would have been raining death for all- It was fortunate there had been a little foresight, as most of the eggs were safe, either moved or protected.

The wyrmling in the egg was the least lucky of all, for it suffered horribly and was in unspeakable pain, torn asunder by its own explosion, it was strewn across the sands, bits and pieces were here and there, though the majority of its upper body, chest, wings and front limbs had landed somewhat near to where Gus had dashed off to, the bright violet and blue eyes wide in terror as she gasped for breath, lungs decimated. Soon though, she stopped moving and her eyes clouded over. She had looked nearly fully grown, only a couple weeks more would have seen her safely through hatching. Her struggling sides stopped heaving. It was impossible to tell what kind of dragon she even was, in the state she was in. There was not much time for mourning or closure before the corpse began to burn, leaving nothing but ashes and black sand in its wake.

While this was going on, at another nest, where a tired man had just been dropped out of the mouth of a gargantuan leviathan. Frankly, this man deserved a break. Fate, however, was not quite so kind this day, as threads of billowing darkness spread suddenly along the ceiling of the hatching grounds, like a demon on a mission, it shot outward and down, tendrils of lovcraftian horror snaking outward to snatch Marcus up and pulled him high into the air toward a roiling shadow of darkness. It had grabbed up other candidates as well, a couple centaur and those it felt it wanted to protect, as where they had been standing or sitting or laying was now peppered with deadly shrapnel. High up on the ledge, and wobbly on his legs, the little centaur Prince tripped when the air around him seemed to shake. Surely the lava egg hadn't done that too? What was that sound in the air? It was almost like the sound of titan wings- big ones. When he tripped, he clocked his head on the Seraphic egg and reared back to change direction, holding his head and muttering that that had hurt, but wasn't /that/ badly hurt. It was just a bump, after all. Really he didn't want to look ridiculous in front of Rhoan, for some reason.

Could it get any worse? What was it that was clouding even the lord of time's vision? She decided she did not like that candidate very much, and blamed the entire tilt of time on him. None of this was supposed to happen this way, or at this time. It had created unforeseen situations, and there were few things Guage hated more than not knowing what was going on.

*You may elect to have your candidate snatched by the whirling darkness, I don't think /too/ many were grabbed but at least two of each species of candidate present.

Myre arriving a little late, and getting a very interesting greeting

Late was an awful word. Terrible really. It implied so many things. Like a lack of timeliness for one. And while that was arguably true in this particular incident, that Myre was not on time, rather quite the opposite, she was sure there were worse things to be. Like...hm. Sick? Perhaps. One could be forgiven for being sick though. Lost? She supposed that was more of an excuse really, considering she'd been here for some time now, and given the maps of the complex that were readily available, it was unfortunately not applicable. Dead? Well, that was the end all be all royal flush of excuses. But she'd rather not be that either. So she supposed that would be the worst of it really. As it was, her frantic dashing from her room she shared with Averon (who was amazingly, more on time than she was in this particular instance) with a hasty goodbye to Ngoloko, galloped full tilt across the complex.

Of all the things to be late for. It had to be the Touching.

As it was with all the things that had happened, it was probably for the best. Myre would likely hear of the events later, and be a bit disheartened that she hadn't been there to witness it firsthand, if not a bit aghast. Weird things always seemed to happen around dragons and two-leggeds. If she was being honest though, the excitement was pretty great. Though perhaps she was bit fool-hardy with her lack of care every time she thrust herself headlong into danger. Or at least in most cases she found out later that it was dangerous, what with most of the experiences being fairly new if not absolutely so to her...Such as now, with the Touching.

She came thundering down the hallways with a hastily shouted "Excuse me!" to a few attendants in her way before she came skidding to a halt in the complex, flanks heaving as she sucked in a breath and took in the....absolute bloody chaos.

Actually she was stil trying to process just what in the world she was seeing (which looked an awful lot like the tail end of an explosion if one were being honest), when something big, dark, and what one might classify as 'dangerous' suddenly seized her as it dropped from the ceiling.

Myre let out shriek of surprise as she was suddenly hauled off her hooves and away from the ground. "What!?" was the only exclamation she could really manage before her breath felt like it was punched from her lungs when she saw that where she had been standing was now a mess of shrapnel. Well. That could have been you.

The affair with the eggs was an interesting thing, and, admittedly, not at all to Aloran's taste. Technology felt unnatural to him, and the air all throughout the nest areas were buzzing with electric noise. The technology titan himself was present, and even the sight of him was mildly disquieting. Dragons, of course, were revered in centaur culture, but that didn't make the sight of such a mechanical looking one any less.. Odd. While the other centaurs in their entourage elected to join the humans and elves in the Touching ceremony (although it felt distinctly unlike a ceremony to him), Aloran lingered behind.

Watching dragons was more interesting than touching their eggs as far as Aloran was concerned. He had no real interest in attaching himself to a dragon; That sort of business was best left for the younger members of their tribe. His duty was to his tribe, and tribe could not come before a dragon once he was attached. Best, then, to stay away, and glean what he could about them from their riders and the attendants who were scattered out among the nests.

While many of the Candidates gravitated toward the titans and their impressive eggs, Aloran moved off to where the grounds appeared less busy. He'd worn his usual garb for his event; A simple, loose-fitting tunic, belted with a decorative sash around his waist. Clothing for centaurs was more for decoration than any real need; Even their skin was covered in a fine layer of hair, which both kept them warm and served as a modest covering. He'd taken care in his presentation for this event, his mane freshly shaved to a short ridge moving up along his back, his hair braided and tail done up in a braided knot to keep it from dragging in potentially dangerous nest material.

He moved quietly amongst the nesting dragons, politely declining offers to touch. He was more interested in speaking to the parents and their riders, and in learning, at least at a surface level, what was expected of the dragons and their riders. He had somewhat of a working knowledge (this was not his first time seeing a dragon after all), but his conversations proved interesting nonetheless.

His exploration was cut short by the sharp scent of ash and smoke.

He stiffened, flanks tense as he turned his head and followed the scent of smoke. The screams followed, and he offered only a swift farewell to the Air dragon he'd been talking with before he charged off, following the scent of sulfur and the sight of smoke and ash billowing above the rest of the nests. He slid to a halt, nearly falling upon his haunches in the process, in order to avoid stepping on some manner of gore. It smoked and stank, and he only needed to follow the sight of scorch marks to see where the dying hatching lay, struggling for breath, her body simply-- Gone.

There was no help he could offer. This injury surpassed the skills of even most dragons, and all he could do was bow his head in respect as the wyrmling passed on. The sight of it made his chest ache, and he heaved a deep sigh. He cursed softly that he'd allowed himself to wander and move away from the rest of the tribe. Impossible to see them all now, and he pawed anxiously at the ground beneath him.

"I beg your pardon," He murmured. "I am looking for the others," He explained with the hope that "others" would speak for itself. "Could you point me in the correct direction?"

Rocherion
Brooding evolving into WTF

This morning started out super promising, its unfortunate that it didn't live up to the hype later. Roche got up early before the dawn, got ready, putting his mane in a simple plait to keep it off his face. Then it was time to put on those slightly confining feeling candidates whites, sans the cape. Rocherion hoped that no one will say anything there. The centaur grabbed a quick breakfast and was out the door.

His ears twitched at the sound of his clinking hooves over the tiles in the halls before getting to the sands proper. "clink, clink, clink!" The big centaur stepped lightly for one his size but he's going to need to see someone about maybe switching his current shoes out for something a little less loud in the future. It was a relief when he did reach the hatchery where the sands will muffle the noise. The big roan was looking forward to the touching ceremony. He hoped that the event will help divert some of the attention he and his kin have been getting since arriving to Aesulla.

Diverted it definitely did with the arrival of the time dragons and with them the disappointing news that many will most likely not be making any bonds this go around on the sands. The blue roan huffed a little in displeasure but otherwise kept his expression neutral. The time dragon's reasoning's is not something he really wanted to wrap his head around right now. They generally did seem to know what they're doing anyways. He's not going to question it yet. All Roche can do is grin and bear it so to speak.

With that, all he set out to do was really observe. Rocherion took his time to wander about the sands, touching one or two of the 'safer' eggs after seeing the seraphic incident. No lie there, that made his fur stand straight right up. He is polite and reserved, choosing mostly to wander to areas lesser populated to look at eggs and his fellow candidates. His quiet observations where broken by the loud rumble of the exploding lava egg. The explosion not just seconds later caught the blue roan completely by surprise!

Rocherion reared up with a startled yelp, his hands flew up to shield his face from the searing heat and shrapnel flying out of the explosion radius. The blue centaur's just close enough to feel it. The ground shook enough to knock him off his balance on the sand, threatening to tip him backwards. Three quarters of a ton of centaur would have hit the ground if not for the inky black tentacle snatching him up!

That th_?! Hey!?! The big centaur started to put a fight against what ever grabbed him.

A shaky hand pressed against the shell of the gigantic egg, and while the Seraphic Egg had given the hatchery quite the spectacle earlier, it was certainly not about to obliterate or smite anyone anytime soon. At least, not when the two were there. There was a magical moment which seemed to echo within Rhoan's mind (and surely Ahm's as well) that reverberated throughout her entire being. Was everyone that touched the egg given this sort of moment? Was there a link with everyone that touched this gigantic egg? Power wafted off of the egg in massive waves, and it blinked with a radiating light before the feeling swept through her body one last time. The Egg was then silent, before the voice continued once more.

What was offered to her was Ascendance. Being young and innocent, pure of heart, was enough to be offered a glorious ascendance, but Rhoan had difficulty wrapping her head around all that was being told to her. Awe inspired by the magic that was happening, Rhoan tried to hold on to her thoughts before turning to Ahm as he spoke. He rejected the offer, wanting to do more here and living. Rhoan, too, would reject. There was too much here she wanted to help grow. Icarus, who was growing older but still curious with bright shining eyes. Zulra, who wanted nothing more than to love and be loved by her pack, and protect it to her dying breath. Rui, who was her bonded, and probably one of the closest beings she'd ever have to her. He wanted nothing more than to grow with Rhoan and help eachother. Ruya, the wistful, curious thinker who liked to send silly dreams to the pack while they slept. The two Phoenix Eggs she was incubating, and whatever they wished to achieve when she was able to hatch them. And yes, even Beiai. The depressed Tragendire surely had something it wished to do, even if it was sleep and feel bad about himself. Still, there was stuff she needed to do here. And people she wanted to do it with.

"I can't leave, there are others who still need my help." Rhoan murmured, before smiling at Ahm. They'd both stay here then! Besides, did heaven have food as good as down here? She doubted it. Thanks to the phenomenon though, her stub did feel a bit better after the mental prod watching Teagan. The prodding was about to come back though as she jerked to the side after an explosion down on the sands. Instinctively, she reached out and grabbed Ahm's hand in shock, gasping loudly as the series of events began to unfold on the sands below. Each disaster triggered another one in it's wake before finally an egg exploded, sending the scattered remains of an almost developed hatchling into the sands before it disappeared into ash. Horror was etched across her face, but the events hadn't stopped there. She let go of Ahm's hand and brushed her shirt back down while he reared back and bumped his head on the Seraphic egg. With how the events were currently going, Rhoan was surprised he hadn't cracked it with his hard head. Tendrils of darkness picked up candidates and others alike as egg had been splayed everywhere. From up here, they were safe, but... damn. "Holy... shit."

Tag: Any and all

This Touching couldn't get any weirder. The Seraphic Egg continued to dazzle and confuse the Candidates on the sands down below, whereas people were having their arms chopped off and hands stung left and write. Granted, all of these things seemed to fix themselves in the end. Who'da'thunk that Teagan would lean against the correct egg, which would then proceed to fix itself? The candidate that got stabbed in the palm was fine in the end, even though there wasn't necessarily a 'fix' to that one. Either way, camera shakily in hand, he'd managed to snap a few photos of dragons and eggs he'd touched along the way, plus a few pictures of a jam session with a couple of musical Candidates and Dragons alike. It was a heartwarming experience, but warm wasn't even the description for what was about to happen next.

In one event after the other, Justin began to realize something was very, very wrong on the sands. The Time Dragons began to roar at one another orders as events began to unwind. Pulling his camera up to his face, Justin snapped a few photos in succession. A Crystal shard in the sand, an Ice Egg with a blemish, an overexcited fire or lava egg spewing? Followed by...

Justin's camera fell to his chest and thumped a few times as a few spattered remains of an exploded almost hatchling splat in front of him. Stifling the urge to vomit then and there, Justin brought an arm up to his face to cover his nose and mouth from stench, if there was any, before staggering back. At the same time however, he felt himself moving back as bits of egg continued to soar throughout the air. It was hard to focus in on the remains of the dragon, and Justin felt himself reeling backwards to faint. It wasn't until he realized he was actually suspended in the air to avoid bits and pieces of sharp, hot egg that he noticed the dark tendril wrapped around his stomach. Inhaling slowly through his nose, as if prepping the best scream he could, the blonde photographer closed his eyes and tried to calm himself as he felt his body continue to be suspended in air. When he opened one, he realized he could probably take some pretty decent pictures from this vantage point, and began to try and snap some photos of the chaos. This was what he wanted to do, right? Well, puke. Puke was also something he wanted to do, but better to try the productive route instead and distract himself from what just happened.

Rock on Gold Dust Woman

Justice Delivered

Jack watched the candidates as they moved about the numerous nests. The eggs this year would be spoiled for choice, though she wished a few of them would stick around a bit longer. It was always nice to get to know new faces and with Chrono busy negotiating with angry mothers there was significantly less to talk about. Iviera scanned the crowd curiously while searching for the wayward time dragon in the midst. This hatching seemed particularly hectic with so many eggs and moving parts. But as far as conversation went, there was not much to add while still half asleep.

“Would be nice if the event was a bit more lively.” Iviera sighed after flopping into Jack’s lap like a boned fish. Jack cocked her head slightly at the little crystal dwarf before giving her a gentle scratch under the chin with a claw. “You don’t have to stay if you’d rather find something more exciting to do. I know you’re not a huge fan of sitting and doing nothing.” Neither was she for that matter, but watching the nest was an important task and she had volunteered for it wholeheartedly. Iviera gave her wings a stretch before tucking them close to her body once more and shaking her head. “And leave you by yourself? I think that would be in particularly poor taste, don’t you?” The crystal dragon was firmly of the opinion that between the three of them, she was the only one with a serious bone in her body. Jack frowned.“No, I suppose not.”

The bored chaplain’s attention drifted, once again finding its way towards the massive seraph egg, and just in time it seemed. Two candidates had approached, but one had pushed her way ahead of the other as if they were somehow more important and required preferential treatment.

They were absolutely right.

The stained glass patterns that covered the ceiling of the hatchery were very familiar to Jack and the word, though archaic was almost chilling. To think that a candidate could be guilty of such a betrayal was an unpleasant consideration...and yet the seraph egg did not leave room to broach an argument as a pillar of holy light disintegrated the candidate into little more than perhaps a burnt patch in the sand.

“Well, that’s not something you see every day.” Iviera managed as Jack continued to watch in silence.

“No, I suppose it’s not.” Jack shook her head before offering a small prayer, fingers clasped tightly around her father’s prayer beads.

Divine retribution was not the sort of excitement she had anticipated. Worse still was a new danger looming on the horizon as Jack felt the earth shake beneath her. “Get away from the nest!” The little chaplain got up quickly before shooing groups of candidates away as quickly as possible (which was decidedly quick, given the element she shared with Chrono) before the lava egg began to spew and rumble dangerously.

Braelyn to Minerva/Aletheia

Eggs cracking, arms being cut off, candidates being vaporized; it was all a lot to take in for the little fjordtaur as she huddled against Minerva for comfort. The news that she had not inadvertently killed a hatchling was reassuring, but the nerve that someone thought such a prank was acceptable was unfathomable. Little grey shoulders shook with the indignity of the revelation and the sand beneath Brae’s hooves knit itself together in little whorls of thorny roses before being stamped upon under foot. It wasn’t often that her thoughts turned to disgruntled violence, but at such a ceremony, she could make an exception.

Until the culprit returned, with an apology.

Braelyn’s ears twitched as Aletheia explained herself. She wasn’t in the mood to to be civil, especially after the stunt that the the shifter had pulled. She flicked her tail and straightened out her caparison before crossing her arms.

“I suppose I can accept that….” the little taur didn’t sound too convincing, but she was trying.

Gustabari and, oh no…

There was something to be said about having a mate that could scream loud enough to wake the dead. All of the fur on his stout form stood on end as the startled fire launched himself into action, his paws scrabbling for purchase on the stone before grabbing the ticking egg from the nest. It seemed like an eternity with how insistent Xifeng’s cries were. Narrow, bladelike wings beat in earnest to carry the orb away from the nest, though truth be told he did not know why. The sharp hissing of the fuse only continued before spelling out the doom that Xifeng knew was coming came to pass.
Gus covered himself with his wings as best as he could as the egg exploded, but the fire still singed away portions of his fur. His extensive mane became a casualty as well, but that was not important as beads melted and long locks burnt to nothing. What mattered was imposing himself between the egg and the rest of their clutch. He could not save them all, it was too late for the egg that had gone up in flames, but he could protect the rest. That he was so occupied was probably for the best, for the ruined body of the hatchling that hit the sands would have broken the gentle fire.

=====

IT’S…..ALIVE!!!

There was something to be said for the laid back lifestyle that Aurinko and Morganne wished they could resume. With Rahmahendra and Eidolon largely attached to Zemal’s hips, it seemed perfectly reasonable to slink away for a little rest and relaxation. In the few months that they had been in Aesulla, the opportunities to escape to the coast had been few and far between. Compared to Lomira, it was a tropical paradise. The glittering expanse of beaches were a tantalizing distraction even at the best of times. On this particular morning, their piscivorous nature made one particular sandbar out aways from shore too good to pass up. Baitfish danced along its shores and the gulls circling overhead were a welcome sign that the fish were both hungry and plentiful. But the sandbar they sought out was hardly a sandbar at all.

It was a giant maggot.

More specifically, it was Ostoglos. But that didn’t mean much to the pair of hungry guards. One moment they had dived under the water, and the next they found themselves swimming ineffectually through a cavern lined with teeth and strange tendrils. Hours had passed; more than enough time for them to realize that they were in fact late for the Touching ceremony. So much for the hopes of a quick meal before the big event. Elara would skin them both later-not that such a realization was new. They had never been on good footing with the gryphon and Aurinko’s father was far from accepting of his lackadaisical son’s preferred lifestyle. Perhaps the old bird would be in luck! There seemed to be no exit in the ridiculous expanse of Glos’ insides. In the hours that they were trapped, the feathered pair had swam from one end to the next. The best that they could surmise was that the end covered in tentacle-tendril-like objects was best to be avoided, by the other end simply stretched onward forever. Neither option was preferred.

But their luck wasn’t all bad; at least not openly so. The leviathan’s stomach was not full of acid after all, and that was a bonus. What’s more, there were plenty of fish to snack on while trapped. If they were going to die that day, at least they wouldn’t go hungry. It was Morganne however, that heard the screaming. The feathered elf cocked her head while Aurinko scarfed down yet another sea bass as if his life depended upon it; nervous eating was not the best of habits for the osprey gryphon. She would have to talk to him about it later. For now however, they needed to move. With a gentle nudge, Morganne roused her companion before leaping down from the fleshy shelf along the stomach wall that they had taken refuge in. Her form shifted to that of her own little avian form before letting out a startled keen.

“Not so fast! You know I’m slow when I’m full!” Aurinko whined as he chased after his bonded. The smaller bird offered little in the way of a response. Her attention was more focused on lighting the fleshy corridor ahead of her. Light emanated from the tips of her wings for the pair to see better, though the further they went, the less it seemed the lights were necessary. The tendrils ahead were covered in lights and full of screaming. Perhaps with all of the commotion, making oneself smaller wasn’t the best idea. Between the screaming and rolling of Ostoglos’ tongue, the little Osprey found herself swept away in the chaos, embroiled in a mass of fabric and tangled limbs before being spat from the leviathan’s jaws along with Marcus. Aurinko’s escape was far less traumatic as the gryphon splattered wetly to the ground in a heap of feathers.

For a brief moment, Morganne thought she was still inside the giant maggot’s mouth. It was dark, a little wet, and strangely warm. The realization was plenty distressing, especially considering the cacophony outside. Explosions, the scent of smoldering flesh and burning feathers.

Feathers?

Morganne let out a panicked scream as only an osprey could before squirming and tearing at anything she could get ahold of. For Marcus, the struggle was likely horrific, though for luckily for him, Morganne’s talons were not sharp, but blunt. Fabric ripped and feathers escaped from the confines of his uniform only for a wing to flex and bend unnaturally before taking the form of a slender arm. Grasping for anything familiar, small hands found purchase on Marcus face before the hatching assistant was thoroughly latched onto by a very unhappy and terrified elf with wings. If that wasn’t the worst of it, the shadowy tendril had them both, and it didn’t seem likely that they’d be escaping any time soon.

Shockingly Shocking

Ciosa
Tag: Terminus, ????????

She had a very... Uncharacteristically stern conversation with Terminus that the candidates were not privy to, for a moment when Rurik approached the egg her smile vanished and she was half tempted to nudge him away, but as before, was afraid he would harm the human due to her medicated state. People were not supposed to approach the eggs, or nests, without permission first. Even if they were giving a gift, or something of the sort. It was, in fact, that exact thing she had just been going over with the titan about, and that he yet again apparently could not handle.

Her head was beginning to hurt, as were other parts of her body that were best not to mention... And it was hard for her to tell where this anger was coming from, but at the same time her head was so fuzzy it was hard not to snap more than usual. Everything was just off, both inside her and outside, she wished that the touching had occured on a day where she wasn't medicated to near oblivion due to the massive size of the eggs she had to carry and pass. Even a few more days later would be a blessing, but it wasn't up to her to decide these things.

It was hard to remember things too, but a small timer went off briefly and she glanced around. It was her timer, for something... She looked around the nest for a moment before realizing she was supposed to get a dose of her medications around now. She couldn't find the medical kit though, and peered over to Terminus in confusion. "Did you give that girl my painkillers..? Those aren't meant for humans.. Or elves..." She honestly wasn't sure which she had been, but did know that a normal dose from the syringe was rapidly fatal to them. Not because the medication was toxic or anything, but because the concentration and amount within the syringe was probably a hundred times too high. "I'm going to need... Some more... Of it..." Her voice was more laboured as she fought the urge to throw up, curling tighter against herself as the dull fuzziness of her mind began to fade, letting in the sharp and intense pain that welled up in her body.

Terminus set up some sort of barrier or force field to ensure he didn't get into any deeper trouble than he was already in, and had gone into full overprotective mode. Ciosa wasn't really in a state to scold him for going too far in the wrong direction at the moment, especially after he sent some of the hatching assistants scrambling to find more of her medication... Which they were apparently out of in the hatchery at the moment, and the normal substitutes couldn't be taken with what she was on. This was turning out to be one of her least favourite laying seasons. It turned out it was about to get worse though, what was perhaps the worst was yet to come.

The eruption startled her awake, causing her to jump slightly, an action which was immediately followed by a sharp gasp of pain as she collapsed again, clutching her midsection. Her head was spinning again, but with pure pain instead of whatever she had felt before. It took all her concentration just to remain breathing as she heard the pandemonium exploding around her, though even that seemed distant as her heartbeat pounded in her head. She felt the ground shake as well and briefly felt like she had fallen on harder earth, but when her eyes eeked open she was still in the nest. She was safe, her eggs were safe... Terminus, she felt like murdering, but he too appeared to be safe for the moment.

"What's..?" She gasped out as she tried to make sense of the swirling images and darkness.

Reid...just kinda...taking it all in
Tag: Aloran

It's been worse than this before. Reid tried to reassure himself as he tried to clear the lingering spots from his vision, and watched with a grimace as one of his fellow assistants was spat from the maw of a particularly maggot-esque dragon taking up a sizeable portion of the complex. Probably. He amended silently. So far, the toll of things that had happened at this Touching were on the Ridiculously High end of the scale, with the capitals being an absolute necessity for that end of the gauge. So far, they'd had an issue with a candidate being poisoned by one of the eggs, though that had been blessedly dealt with, and it seemed to be surviveable. However, there had been another incident with what one could only call a....smiting.

Reid's eyes traveled up to the imposing Seraphic egg, a silent sentinel that stood judge over the entirety of the complex. The young woman Rhoan and the prince of the centaurs Ahmduer were up there at this particular moment in time, and Reid and several others were keeping careful tabs on the important figures, especially after the incident involving the prince at the welcoming feast. Reid felt his pride smart just a bit. He didn't want a repeat. He was likely already under enough of a watch as it was for that, regardless of whether or not it was his fault.

But then the followup to the smiting had been what could perhaps mildly be referred to as an amputation. The loss of the arm of one of the candidates by a shield formed from a protective mother had resulted in what he had thought would be the crushing of a Technology egg. But instead, from what he could see from his current position on the sands, the egg was fine and the candidate was being tended to. And now a volcanic egg was doing it's very best impression of the feature that it impersonated.

Things took another downward turn from there.

With the panicked cry of a mother dragon as she and her mate pulled their clutch as quickly away from one of their brood as they could, Reid had just enough time to recognize that the egg appeared to be alight before it uttered a noise like a squalling firework and quite literally exploded. Shards of hot eggshell slicing like deadly metal shrapnel rained down on the sands, and in places where people should have been diced into a julienne of what had once been a person, centaur, or elf, instead a tendril of darkness snatched them up and away. Reid shielded his face with his cybernetic arm, knowing it wouldn't do much good to protect himself with, but it was something. When he lowered it, there was unbelievably, more developments.

Reid could only stare at this current turn of events, feeling a headache brewing. Marcus was up there now, along with a few centaurs and other candidates, after just having been spat up. The man had been through a lot today, that was for sure. Reid made a mental note to buy the man a drink later. He deserved it. There was going to be a lot of paper work for today.

A quiet voice beside him shook him from his staring. He turned to behold a Centaur at his side, and the query almost set the elf laughing, as it was Reid pressed his lips together and managed his composure. "Well..." he drawled, and then directed his gaze upwards. "A few of them are uh...hanging around, I suppose you would call it." He grimaced, more at the pun he'd created than the situation. "The prince is aloft with Rhoan by the Seraphic. The rest are scattered about." He looked over at Aloran. "I don't suppose you know what that dark, tentacle thing is, do you?"

Anviel Veyanir, falling off the Seraphic's platform
Tag: Seraphic egg, then Ahtian/Tytus

Anviel had taken a spot on the platform just a bit off to the side while she waited for the centaur and his companion to finish with the egg. She didn't have a problem waiting, and indeed, perhaps it was good to stand off to the side a little and collect her thoughts before she touched an egg that possessed such a presence. She resisted the urge to pull her phone out and text her brother, thinking that it would disrespectful at an event like the touching. Instead, she zipped its pocket shut tighter, as if reaffirming her decision to keep it away. An event like this wasn't time for silly things like that.

Instead, the elf turned towards the edge, watching the mother dragons and candidates on the sands. From here, she could see so many mother dragons, and candidates moving from nest to nest. It was comforting, beautiful to watch.

Then, suddenly, it seemed like all hell broke loose. It was Gauge's panic that Anviel had spotted first, the Time Titan's eyes darting from place to place, but then everything just seemed to go wrong. Anviel's eyes rested for a moment on the lava egg at the nest without a mother, then stopped and looked around at all the nests with panicked parents trying to protect their eggs. It looked as though pandemonium had broken out below. Then, suddenly, before Anviel could really process what was happening, the egg seemed to start screaming, and the wyrmling inside was scattered across the sands.

Anviel took a quick, unsteady step, caught off guard by the events. Her eyes rested blankly, numbly taking in the grim sight. It wasn't quite processing in her mind, and seemingly despite her own emotions, teared welled up in her eyes. No, crying wouldn't solve anything. But at the same time, Anviel realized that there was nothing she could do but watch. Nothing anybody could do but watch. This was a mess. The tears kept coming, slowly, and Anviel wiped them from her face as quickly as they came. She spotted the shadow around the hatching complex, picking up candidates, but hardly reacted after the horror everyone had witnessed. What does it want with them?

Then, in the back of her mind, she could feel Genzai awakening back in their dorm room as Anviel watched on in horror. He'll want to come, Anviel realized, And make sure everything's alright. A pause. No, no, Genzai, stay there, she pleaded, unsure if he could even hear her at this distance. Whatever the case was, he seemed to understand her distress at the idea of him coming, and Anviel could sense much less panic from him. The elf had her eyes closed, and she shook her head, taking a step forward.

Suddenly, there was not anything underneath her.

The candidate fell, screaming. The tragendire certainly felt that something was very wrong, and Anviel had no doubt that Genzai was going to come charging onto the sands at potentially any moment to behold the chaos himself. Anviel, meanwhile, wasn't making peace with her end... in fact, she was even a little angry. It was so close to the Hatching. What if her dragon was on these sands? What what Genzai do if she was dead? She wished she hadn't come anymore, she wished she hadn't done something like this.

Then, suddenly, she was not falling freely. A piece of something floated down beneath her, gently, and the fall seemed to slow. It took a moment to gather her wits, but she realized from the color and the location what it had to be. The Seraphic egg. The fragment of armor took her elsewhere, to a safe place on the sands away from that high platform, away from the shrapnel and most of the chaos. It set her down and Anviel stood there, shaking, hardly steady on her feet. Briefly, she wondered if she should go to a medical area. In all honesty, she probably should've, to get checked out and to get something to calm her down, but her desire to participate in the touching saw that thought quickly dismissed.

Instead, she walked a little more, clearly shaken up. There was a nest nearby, tended by a rather pretty, multicolored dragon. Anviel walked up to it, and her voice was shaking just as much as her body was while she spoke. "Honored... dragon... Would y-you permit me to touch your eggs?" The candidate did not look good at all, almost like she might fall over and pass out at any moment.

((Checked with Thal for the Seraph thing. Also, I rushed a bit at the end, so I might clean it up some more tomorrow~))

Marcus need a vacation

"I want out!"

It occurred to him briefly that shouting at the dragon who was perfectly capable of swallowing him whole was not a good idea, but Marcus just wasn't in the mood. Agrius' panic was bubbling over in his mind and making him lose what little focus and patience he had left. With a grimace Marcus tried to pull himself free of the tendrils that held him, the servos in his arm whining softly from the strain. It was a futile effort and he eventually gave up; there was no sense in two people losing their arms today. Just as he relaxed, however, it and the other appendages holding him in place suddenly slurped away and left him very much without anything to hold onto.

There was pressure then, a lung-crushing compression that made it difficult to breathe and impossible to focus on anything other than his impending future as a squashed human grape. He certainly didn't notice the osprey that somehow existed in Ostoglos' gut getting smashed against him and tangled in his undershirt, nor was he aware of her gryphon companion that followed along behind. All Marcus was aware of was heat, pressure--and then blessed freedom.

He sat upon the sands in a daze, only half aware of what the giant dragon was saying to him or of Agrius' current predicament. Marcus had only the briefest of moments to realize there's something squirming inside of my shirt before he was, for the second time in less than ten minutes, unceremoniously snatched from the ground. He gave a shout, hands instinctively flying to the thing that had wrapped itself around his middle, but then there was a thing in his shirt and it was writhing like a possessed demon before a wing-arm it was a fucking arm exploded through a rend in the fabric and was followed soon after by the entirety of a small person.

"What the fuck?!" Marcus had never claimed to be the most eloquent of people, but he was currently dangling in mid-air by a shadow-thing with the remnants of his undershirt fluttering to the ground in pieces and a dainty, winged female clinging to him for dear life. It was reflex and training that had him wrapping an arm around Morganne's waist while reaching out with his other hand to try and hold on to the thing that was holding on to him in turn. Rurik and then the impending doom

Rurik hadn’t even felt the fear or stress in his muscles until Teagan put her arm around him and pulled him close did he feel them start to release. His whole body trembled from the weight, the guilt that pulled at the back of his mind and tickled his throat. He enjoyed the contact between them, reassuring to him that she, was in fact, still alive. He could only sort of chuckle at the dark humor, but he didn’t even want to think about what had happened had he been fully in between the doors. The red still wouldn’t leave his mind already and he clung tight.

“ ‘m just glad your alright…” He whispered out, deciding that he didn’t really want to go meet any more eggs if there was still a risk of a jumpy mom suddenly maiming or killing a candidate...or the egg itself as what had happened to one at the seraphic egg. He barely noticed when she started to pry her own arm out of his and he looked down before his mind clicked that he hadn’t actually put it down. He had been carrying it around this whole time. It added a whole new level of disturbing that Rurik would never be able to get out. How many nightmares he would have time could only tell, and he wished that they had been assigned to be roommates.

He’d be fine, he told himself, as they made it to the rest of the way to the tent. Both Idazon and Teagan sat down, resting and being attended to by medical staff. He continued to stand and fidget, taking the chance to look around the hatching grounds as the touching continued. He was sure, Teagan wouldn’t mind if he moved onto a different nest, but Rurik couldn’t find the energy to even wonder which one he would want to go to visit. He didn’t want to leave his sister either, even though Idazon would continue to keep her company, Rurik just didn’t want to be alone. Not after what he had witnessed, the simple soul had been shaken to the core, doubts wriggling in the back of his mind.

Of course, his eyes drifted to Chrono’s nest, and watched as the lava suddenly seemed to explode, sending out smoke and other debri, which just created a whole line of chaotic events that Rurik could only watch. The smoke wafted to another nest and then from their shrieks of panic, orders and chaos as eggs were snatched to be moved or protected away from one egg. Rurik took a step back out of reflex as the egg exploded. He ducked, as shrapnel rained down around the radius of the egg, and Rurik couldn’t help but stifle a gasp. There was no doubt in his mind, that the hatchling inside hadn’t made it--had suffered the worst. There would be no help for that hatchling. He clenched his fist, deciding that nope. He didn’t want to stay here on the grounds any longer than he had too--it looked to be far easier to keep safe off the sands than what it was here. But he couldn’t leave. Not yet.

Of course, his version of leaving wasn’t what he expected. Instead of going back to his room or wherever he would be, something snaked out, the dark inky smoke that wrapped like a lovers embrace around his mid-waist. A warbled shout ecked out from his throat as the ground below him started to leave. He yelped trying to grab purchase but there wasn’t anything. He was at the mercy of whatever had grabbed ahold of him. He tried to reach for something to rescue him, but it didn’t look like anyone was going to be rescuing him, had anyone even noticed? In his flailing, he missed to notice that he was not the only one.

Kumonryo to Nox
To say the Touching was mellow would be wrong. It was not; candidates walked in groups chattering, and then things started to escalate starting with the seraphic egg incinerating a candidate, visions pro telling what she had done, that she had been guilty. Casting a nervous glance around, she coiled around her own nest. As a first time mother, she couldn’t help the paranoia to protect her own; but she was confident that no harm would come to hers. Despite how often her own rider decided to participate in risky behaviours, but she would protect him. They would save his brother. She had confident that justice would serve. But for now, she had more pressing issues to attend. There wasn’t anything she could accomplish except care for her nest, and let candidates make contact with her own eggs.

And currently, one had set their track for her nest. She hummed pleasantly, casting a wary eye to her volatile rider who still had his headphones on blasting loud music that probably was ruining his ears, but she didn’t want to get into an argument with him at the moment. He was preoccupied and wouldn’t cause a scene or harass anyone. As long as they left the winged elf alone, everything would work out. She hummed as he approached and addressed her with a formal title. It felt odd to be addressed as a lady, but to each their own. If he felt the need for titles, than she wasn’t going to deny them their small comforts--besides, it didn’t hurt. It just made her chuckle, small bursts of steam whistling out from vents. Her armor shined, and polished, and she did her best to present a welcoming sight, but her own visage was formed to be well, more of a frightening face, but she wasn’t frightening dragon. Not when she didn’t want to be.

“Greetings, Nox” She responded, her voice melodic in its own right. “You are very welcome to touch my eggs.” She granted access to the candidate, her own heart swelling at the milestone of her children. They needed to make connections to potential bonds, even if they did not bond when they hatched.

Egg
Selena and Chaos!
Tag: Anyone

This was a little crazy. Touching events were never this...crazy. Selena had been all ready to get back in the game and start touching eggs again, when things went topsy turvy. The tendrils of darkness were an issue, a pretty big one in fact. She tried to leave the Medical tent to go and help but as shrapnel went flying Selena bolted back into the tent and hit the floor. She covered her head and shut her eyes tightly. This was simply put, not her day, or anyone's day really.

”Oh crap.” She muttered ”Momma warned me there would be days like today.” One had to wonder what sort of woman Selena’s mother was. Apparently she had a lot to say about various things and situations that would simply never have come up in a normal life span. Perhaps it wasn’t the specific event though and more the experience...after all it seemed like very few people were enjoying themselves at this touching event. Selena could only imagine the chaos the hatching was going to be.

In a moment of courage she moved back to the tent and stuck her head outside to observe the situation, it wasn’t like she could help, her hand still ached and she wasn’t exactly strong enough to catch someone if they fell. She briefly got the bright, or perhaps stupid idea, to grab mattresses to try and catch students...she decided not to voice this idea out loud though. After some thought Selena decided it was best to keep her head down, but to keep up to date about the situation in case anything else happened. At this rate she might as well start working in the medical tent.

A Culprit Confronted.
Tag: Braelyn, Aletheia.

Minerva let out what almost sounded like a growl as Aletheia explained herself. The much larger centaur had been happily rubbing Braelyn’s shoulder when Alethia approached and explained herself. A gout of hot steam escaped her and Minerva crossed her arms as well. She let Braelyn speak first and then huffed “If it were up to me, you would be punished severly. Lucky for you it is not.” She spoke with a sort of finality to her words that was almost dangerous. Then of course an egg exploded and darkness appeared from the sky. Her first instinct was to shield Braelyn, but her protective streak kicked in and she grabbed Aletheia as well pulling in to make sure she wasn’t peppered with metal shards.

Once the bits and pieces stopped flying she let go of the other two and gritted her teeth “I am not enjoying this touching thing. Are the two of you alright?” she asked.

Shockingly Shocking

Ostoglos
Tag: Aurinko

Ostoglos was not the most uh, nice dragon out there, for sure, but she was also not the worst. She had thought it was pretty funny to snatch up the fishy gryphon and its rider, and was doubly amused when all they seemed to do was make laps in her gut and eat fish. If they had ever actually ventured to an exit she would have let them out much earlier, but as it was apparently they had decided to go for a nap at some point and gave up on escape. At least they had the sense to avoid the back exit though, as that was probably the least dignified way to exit the creature. Not that being spat out in a glob of drool and such was a whole lot better.

"Hurhurhur... Fesh-eh greh-fohn, deh-ehd yoh geh-eht loh-est?" She asked the heap of feathers, though her head jerked up slightly to follow the tendril of darkness that had snatched Marcus and Morganne. That was just plain rude! You don't take things from someones nest without asking, she would have to have a word with it... Sometime... Eh, she didn't care enough to actually go to the source, instead she tilted her head down towards Aurinko again and blasted him with some pure and clean water from her lips. It was like getting hit by a giant fire hose, but in the wake of it he was drool, and fish-parts free. It seemed like she liked the gryphon, partly because it enjoyed fish as much as she did, but also because it was a very silly thing to her. Pretty much anything that amused her she at least slightly attempted to keep around, sometimes by bribery, and sometimes by simply not letting them go. It somewhat depended on which got the most amusing reactions from the person, but she was sure she'd have plenty of time to figure out which way was best to.. 'befriend' this gryphon and rider. Probably capture, she admitted to herself, unless it was a VERY silly gryphon.

She might have known a bit more about what was going on than many others present, her eyes looked in many directions, and her senses picked up things that others neglected as well. Of course, whether she would actually TELL ANYONE was a completely different story. No this was hilarious, and the more people flailed, yelled, screamed and pleaded for their lives the more funny everything was to her. She gently scooped up the gryphon after a moment and held him up against her squishy white body, the slick blubbery flesh partially molding over his back as she held him high enough to see the chaos but not able to rush into it just yet. "Hurhur... Loh-ehk! Thah-ehr ehs yohr reh-dehr! Ahl-reh-deh geht ehn ehn hu-mehn shoh-ehrts. Meh-beh troh loh-ehve?" She commented about when she saw them clinging to eachother for dear life while being swung around by the darkness.

She'd probably catch them if they got flung off, but she'd wait to see if anyone beat her to it. She'd already helped several people today, and was reaching her limit.

Averon
Tag: The exit

Averon had managed to avoid getting a person, a bird, and a gryphon spat out on top of him, but not by much... And decided that maybe he should poke at these eggs and get out of the hatchery while he still had all his body parts attached. There were explosions, and strange darkness all around, but for some reason it didn't seem to be particularly surprising or at least not that alarming to him. It was more like it was highly inconvenient, but at least he hadn't been grabbed by whatever eldritch darkness was taking place. That would have just been... Something... There were enough people up there right now to have a party, though he thought if they did have one it was probably not going to be the best.

He asked Glos if he could approach her eggs, and the gurgle-y noise that she responded with sounded affirming... So he went ahead to them, he nearly touched the colorful super round one but noticed a small golden sign infront of it that read as follows: 'Warning, Highly poisonous, do not touch.' It was in a spot that one would have to be paying attention to notice it, but perhaps Glos thought that if you weren't paying attention to the nest and eggs you deserved to get a little poisoned... Though Narcida, Valyss, and Painovoima probably kept putting the sign back to the right spot, somehow it always managed to slip back down nearer to the egg.

Skipping that one, he went to the dark earth egg and carefully touched it, it was smooth and scaled unlike most earths. He could feel a warmth in it, but was actually somewhat thankful when no 'prize' emerged. He was going to run out of pockets if every egg gave him something, though at this point it appeared to just be every other egg. He thanked Glos, and Voima if he was present, then decided to head for the gates. He was pretty sure he could feel someone glaring daggers at him, and knew pretty much who it was, but gave no sign of his notice.

He managed to make it to the gates without much else going wrong, although he did end up helping someone get most of the way to the med tent before an assistant took over and brought them the rest of the way. He stopped near the exit of the hatchery and surveyed the chaos again. There was an odd moment as he was watching, and then, he appeared to be about twenty feet down the hallway as if something had pushed him, and simultaneously teleported him out. Whatever had happened he looked a little confused and perhaps indignant.

Aletheia
Tag: Braelyn, Minerva

She didn't expect the centaurs to be to happy with her but it did go better than she had thought it would. She knew centaurs were very proud creatures having grown up among them herself and being tricked was not exactly the way to start making friends. Though she had learned that was pretty much true with anyone, unless they had a large sense of humor. It could very well be that one of them had not been given enough time to fully give their thoughts to her as general chaos erupted, again. Though she was not at a vantage point to see the full chain unfold she could hear enough of what she couldn't see to get an idea. The shrill scream of the albino mother was what caught her attention the most and seeing the various Time Dragons grab shields to protect nests gave her a slight idea as to what was going to happen next, and realize the three of them were not in a very good position. At all. She could easily become small enough to quickly get out of harms way but the two centaurs would not be able to.

Minerva may have pulled close a centaur and an elf but one of those suddenly changed. One moment Minerva and Braelyn were huddled with an elf, the next they were being carried off in a flurry of white. She managed to half leap half fly behind a pillar of stone in the time it took for the egg to explode curling her draconic body and wings around the centaurs to block and ricocheting debris from hitting them. A direct hit from one of the eggshell shards would have been near fatal to them, even in her larger form, but any shells that bounced off the walls or ground would not hurt so much. At most she would have cuts and slices here and there.

Once she was sure the explosion was over she gently uncurled herself and lifted her multitude of wings to check on her two charges and make sure she hadn't jostled them to hard when grabbing them. "Are you both unharmed?" Her voice resonating around them in ghostly echoes. She realized this would make it clear her ability to morph into a dragon and had not been cast in illusion earlier along with the egg.

Azarahl
Tag: Ahmduer, Rhoan, Seraph Egg

She had never been this nervous in her life. Aza was one to be confident in herself and her actions life was usually pretty simple. It went along the lines of would it be safe for Ahmduer? If it was a yes it was a go, if it was sketchy then it was a hell no. Yet ever since they had left their homeland everything had become that much more complicated. The same scenarios that had been going through her mind kept turning, all of her failed attempts to keep her brother safe, and now, as he touched the shell of the great Seraph egg there was nothing she could do. The pillar of light that had incinerated the other candidate reappeared and the lightning centaur went from nervous to panicked. Shouting out her brothers name she ran toward him ignoring the dangers to herself. The pillar of light faded away a moment later and she could see him and Rhoan converse with each other. Her speed picked back up again when chaos began to trickle throughout the Hatchery. She could hear things erupting, dragons yelling, screams, a high pitched noise quickly becoming louder and louder but the thing that held her attention the most was the black cloud picking random people up with dark tendrils.

By the time she could hear a loud explosion she had reached Ahmduer, right as he tripped and cracked his head on the egg. “Ahmduer! Are you alright? What happened?” She nervously fidgeted with his hair looking him over to make sure he was indeed alright. After the panic of the chaos she realized she was standing right next to the Seraph egg and she felt its judgmental presence once again. Her guilt welled up in her mind and she smiled at her brother though it was hardly a true smile, her eyes looked as though she might actually cry. Something Aza never did, at least never in front of her brother. But all the events that had happened putting his life in danger she couldn’t help but see the strong centaur he would have become if it not had been for her. She leaned over and hugged him tightly, not even realizing she brushed against the egg itself.
