The Detroit Gladiators shortened their trip this week by practicing in Las Vegas starting on Wednesday through Friday before moving up to the Spokane area for the traditional visitors practice in the area. They have made an nice addition of Clayton Young on the line, even though they had to trade away a good veteran presence that helped to build the solid line anchored by John Maurer, Samuel Wells, and Derek Butts. "Clayton will add another strong young linemen to our already strong line," stated Gladiator head coach Jim Harbaugh. "In the few practices that we have had with him, he has jelled very nicely with John, Sam and Derek giving us a solid rotation along with Terry, Em, and Don." In an interview with GM James Vigna, "Saw an opportunity and even though our owner and I agree it was a lose to see both Mike (Razorman) and Ungar gone, we had to take it when it came to getting Clayton Young. He is a great addition to what we have been building with additions of Williams, Kenton, and Vernon to our receiving corps. by adding to our pass protection and rushing. " "Now that we are back on the winning side, we need to shore things up and make sure we are ready for the tough finish to this already grueling schedule. But a schedule like this will only make for a stronger mental team which is what is needed in the playoffs." "This week will begin the process by taking on a formidable young team in Spokane. After this game, we will know even better how our team matches up with the better teams in league." |

Spokane, Washington - Once again the Detroit Gladiator's have improved on an already formidable roster by bringing in John Cornell from Long Island vie Houston. Owner Dennis Marr, "We have been trying to bring John in for the last couple of years but knew that Long Island wouldn't trade a weapon like him to us, understandably, so when we were negotiating with Houston for Clayton Young and it was brought to our attention that they had just gotten John from LI, we began negotiations to bring him here." Jim Druckenmiller, " I have seen him on the other side of the ball enough times to know that we want him on our side. I know that I am at the stage of my career where I need to help Donovan but I wish I was going to be out there throwing to LaCourte, Williams, Cornell, Madray, Peaches, Alexander, Ross., and that doesn't include all of our weapons. But I now get the fun of figuring who will be out there on each play. Coaching will be fun." Harbaugh stated, "We now have the balanced offense we have been looking for. We still have a difficult road ahead of us but the road got easier this week with the additions of Young and Cornell." |
