Encode MXF to DNxHD mov for editing in Avid Media Composer

As a professional video editor, I meet all kinds of video formats and handle different problems brought by them everyday. Last week, my workmate who's a newcome videographer told me the trouble he met: He took his Sony F55 Camcorder to record a short video of his friend's concert. Then he was to convert MXF to AVID DNxHD for the further editing. But he soon had difficulties in choosing a practical converter which is able to help him carry out this conversion. After I heard about his matter, I directly recommended him a piece of powerful software - Pavtube iMixMXF.

Pavtube iMixMXF is a terrific application which mainly focuses on converting MXF to many different popular formats, such as MOV, MP4, AVI, SWF and so on. One of its distinct features is that it can convert multi – track MXF videos. It exports and preserves MXF 2, 4, 8 or more audio channels as individual, and outputs and mixes selected MXF audio streams into one.

Moreover, Pavtube iMixMXF supports to split and merge MXF files in conversion. Its most important function for me is that it converts MXF for many common applications such as Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, iMovie and so on. This point just satisfies my unique requirements.

Next, I will share my experience of using this software:

First, free download the trial version:

Step 1. Load MXF files

Instant the best MXF to Avid DNxHD MOV converter and launch it on Mac. I add it to this concise interface. Before the conversion from MXF to AVID DNxHD, I previewed it. iMixMXF supports the function of "preview", which means you may watch MXF videos on this application.

Step 2. Select the output format. It's just easy to use. I select the "AVID DNxHD (*.mov)", because I want to edit them in my Avid Media Composer.

Step 3. Adjust the setting. You may change the codec, size, bitrate, frame rate of the video and the codec, sample rate, bitrate, and channel of its audio. To meet my specific need, I alter the bitrate to 36000kbps and 185000kbps separately.

Step 4. After I had prepared everything well, I just need to click the "Convert" button to start the MXF to Avid DNxHD MOV conversion.

The "Conversion" window pops up as soon as you click "Convert" button, on which you can find conversion information like Time elapsed, Time left, Generated size, and Estimated size.

Tick off "Shut down computer after conversion option", you can leave the program running and do other things instead of waiting around for the conversion.

When conversion completed, you can click "Open output folder" to popup output directory with the converted files.

Note: If you are using a trial version, there will be Pavtube logo watermark in the middle of output files. To get rid of the logo watermark and get better performance, please click Help > Register > Order to buy iMixMXF full version.

P.S. I also run Pavtube MXF MultiMixer on my Windows 8.1, and it also plays well.
