As do I, please: and apologies for the delay, I thought I'd replied here earlier. Anyway I'm sure it's still Sunday if we go to GMT - 22 or something, Shall we have a few days to present platforms, then a few days for questions, and then a vote next weekend? |

Then, if we are really starting voting before being given a chance to say why we think we should do the job, I'd like to say the following: If elected, I would defend the independence of the Senate and the rights of the Individual Senator, and also the rights of the Individual Nation. I would work to facilitate the government's legislative initiatives, always moving the debate forward to the next thing we must discuss. I would support private Senator's ideas and help to formulate them into coherent and consistent legislation. I would aim to establish Senatorial committees to report on legislation we could pursue, and to check existing legislation to make it more concise and accommodating. Language, particularly legal language, is a tool, and useful concise drafting must be able to accommodate future legislation written by different people for different purposes. It must be easy to change. And it must be simple, or we will tie ourselves up in red tape and fall flat on our faces. |

If I may please ask you a question; Nerod, as Minister for Economics and Trade, how would you ensure your neutrality if the Senate opposed a course of action you suggested in your capacity as Government Minister? |

How can I ensure my neutrality in the Senate? Easy. I am commited with this region, with the Government, the Senate. I want the best for our growing region and I understand that this is one of the most difficult stages of a region, the "birth". We don't have Constitution and we are still deciding how our region will be and how our region will be known and conceived on the outside of it. Because of this I understand your caution and lack of confidence, and if you (Members of Panessos) think it is necessary, I will resign from the MoET office in case I am elected. Why I think I am the best option? I do not think I am better than anyone here or that I am superior than anyone. But as I already said, I think this is a difficult time and that we need is someone solid, strong and active enough to have things running smoothly during this period. I am currently having quite a lot of free and I have been in 3 others regions during their "birth period", this makes me think I could do just good enough to have a great region, a great Panessos for everyone. I do not really think I am the best option, I may be as good as anyone else here. But I want to do this, I want to serve our region, to help it grow. To think of this moment in a year and say: "I helped Panessos. I was the first Speaker, I helped making our first laws, approving our Constitution and I helped some new Senators understand how things worked. I, with my friends and comrades, made this region grow" |

I agree that all the candidates should post there platforms and goals. Thank you for seeing the dilemma with MoGE and Speaker Nerod. I was afraid I'd have to bring it up. So, what do I hope to accomplish? First, I'd like to finally debate, edit, and ratify the Constitution. It needs a few more tweaks here and there, but it is well on its way. With this as our base, we can progress and establish a uniform procedure of drafting and writing laws. This will help quicken the pace of the more worthier drafts right now stalled on the floor. I hope to reorganize the Senate and maintenance our subforums. I am for the separation of the Legislative and Executive Branches of the Panessos regional government. As for my stance on political parties, I am for their establishment. A draft can be written up guild-lining the procedure of acceptance, but I believe that if nations want to join together to promote their ideas, more power to them. I feel like this region is getting off to a great start, and I look forward to our region's career. For my views on committees, I believe that all nations should have a chance to input and suggest revisions to drafts and regional policy. Therefore I am against Legislative committees to approve drafts. I am however for committees in general, and believe that they will help us work on specific issues and achieve them faster. If anyone has any questions on my stances or just in general, feel free to post them. Good luck to all the candidates. |

How will we be voting? I know we have the Thread Poll, but do remember that Member Nations and Ministers can vote. I believe that only Senators should be allowed to vote for their Speaker. Therefore I recommend the following procedures: 1. Have nations post their vote on this thread 2. Select a nation (Most likely Ghant) to record votes, similar to the Ministerial elections. 3. Have nations "like" a candidates platform using the forum's built-in Facebook style "like" icon. *What do you think? |

The law that I wrote clearly states that it is Senators that elect their Speaker: and the Speaker must be able to command the confidence of the Senate. But you're quite right to bring up the subject of administering votes. Maybe we ought to consider appointing a 'speaker election officer' for electing the speaker/confidence motions? If there's any support for that idea I'll draft a short law creating the post (and making it the WAD by default) right away. |

Has the voting finished? I see we have a tie, in which case we will need to have a tiebreaker. |
