Name: Matthew Jeevas Age: 18 Gender: Male Home Town: Saffron City, Kanto Faction: Crusaders Appearance: ![]() Matthew's facial expression is usually either one of boredom, thoughtfulness, slight agitation, or a mixture of the three. Said facial expression is framed by shaggy red hair that stops just above the shoulders. His eyes are an odd reddish color, that can go from lazily glancing at you to piercing your soul. His skin tone is slightly pale, and his build is relatively scrawny. He stands at about five feet, eight inches, but only weighs in at one-hundred ten pounds due to a lack of actual muscle. His attire usually consists of business casual clothing, which seems slightly odd when compared to the way other Trainers dress. His main outfit consists of a simple button-up shirt, bearing a dark logo over the left breast, complimented by a dark tie tied loosely around the collar. Everywhere he goes, he wears a pair of plain black jeans, held up by a dark belt that often blends in with his clothing. He wears matching black wristbands, one on each wrist. No matter where he goes or what the current event is, he is always seen wearing a pair of black boots. History: Born as the second son of the Kanto Region's prestigious Jeevas Family, Matthew has dealt with a lot of pressure in his life. His older brother, Michael, has always been better in the physical aspects of life and been better with both Pokémon and people. Since he was the firstborn, Michael got all the attention and pampering of his family, while Matthew was left in the shadows and on the sidelines, raised more by the family's au pair, Roger, than by his own parents. He was isolated from the world for much of his childhood, being groomed into the "perfect son", meant to support Matthew no matter what. Roger tried to help him be more like a normal child, but his father's constant interference ended any chance of a normal life. One shining moment in his childhood that cemented the constant hostility between Matthew and his father. Matthew and Michael, oddly, went to a public Trainer's School. Due to his intelligence, Matthew had skipped ahead to the point he and his brother were in the same class. While Matthew was good physically, his mental abilities left something to be desired. Their father ordered Matthew to give Michael the right answers, so that he could move ahead in the world with even less of a problem. Matthew refused, letting his own brother fail and, effectively, severing any hopes of civility between him and his father. While his brother was, eventually, allowed to go on a journey, Matthew decided to not go on a journey. It just didn't interest him at the time. He spent his next few years analyzing the Kanto Region and the local Pokémon, with help from his caretaker and close-friend Roger. One day, he decided that he had learned all he was going to learn from Saffron and the Kanto Region, deciding to set out to the relatively far-off Sinnoh Region, which he had heard about from Roger, whom originally came from Sinnoh. However, Roger decided he was getting too old to continue escorting Matthew, and convinced him to go off on his own and leave Roger to live peacefully in the Jeevas Family's home. All alone in a foreign land, Matthew has decided to involve himself in the conflict between the Crusaders and the Church, hoping to at least bring about some peace. Personality: Matthew is somewhat secretive. Quiet and reclusive, he is actually very intelligent. However, he masks this intelligence behind his laziness. He is also largely apathetic towards most aspects of life, only bothering with stuff that interests him. He shows respect only to the people he thinks have earned it, though this respect has only been earned by his au pair, Roger. He views things from a practical viewpoint, trying to isolate his emotions and think logically to solve problems. He also holds the belief that people will only be able to succeed relying on their own skill, but on nothing else. Another firm belief is that Arceus is only a powerful Pokémon, not a 'God' or any other such thing. As such, he has recently come into conflict with the Church. He often tends to look at things like a scientist would look at a specimen under a microscope. He wants to see what makes things tick, this attitude ranging from other people to Pokémon. Despite his laziness, if something catches his interest, he will pursue it relentlessly. His tendencies to analyze the world like a science experiment, mixed with his habit of rushing in to deal with items of interest, usually causes him to get in over his head or make bed decisions. Because of this odd-thought process, he often finds himself distracted from the task at hand. Because of his isolated childhood, when it comes to social events, Matthew tends to be at a loss. He doesn't really know how to make friends, or how to really converse with other people. Because of this, he often unintentionally hurts other people's feelings or says the wrong thing. However, he does his best to help people in need, mostly to try and make enough friends to make up for his years of loneliness Despite his raising, he harbors no envy of his brother, knowing the stress of the firstborn is much worse than the stress he felt. His relationship with his mother is stable, but he resents his father for many of the events of his childhood. The only person he is truly close to is Roger Williamson, his au pair. The two have, over the years, formed a bond similar to that of a father and son. Edited by Avalon, Jul 3 2012, 09:29 PM.
