Eye in the Sky!

So my cousin calls me up from Houston about 3 months ago and says he can get tickets to the Yankee/Astros series in Houston for all 3 games. My cousin is an avid Yankee fan. He lives in Houston but has traveled all over the US to see them and has been to every current ball park except for about 5. He has season tickets at Yankee Stadium and spends more time on a plane then I do at work. He says to bring my Dad and we'll have a great father's day weekend. My dad agrees and we make the flight plans 3 months in advance. I had mentioned in an email to Grid that I would be in Houston to see the games. In May Grid emails me back and says he is going with his son to the Yankee/Astro game on June 6'th and we should meet up. I respond back that the games take place on the 13'th, 14'th and 15'th but to let me know. I made an assumption that, if Grid was coming, he would be there on the Friday since that was a week after the original date he had given me. I decided to pack a gift for him in my suitcase. I get to my parents about 3 1/2 hours before the flight is suppose to leave due to typical NY traffic and the full body cavity searches that they perform which Stock raves about. I think Stock goes to the airport to get them even when he doesn't have a flight. My father is in no rush and, of course, has to load up on cannoli's and sfogliatelle's for our Italian relatives who are more use to chilli then pasta now a days. Of course, as I said, my cousin spends more time up here then home so he knows the city better then we do. The plane ride sucks. We had to fly Continental since they are the major airline into Houson. Their seats were made for the little people in Wizard of Oz I believe. I had picked to end seats for me and my dad next to each other across the aisle from one another. My father gets Mini-Me and his smaller son next to him. I get Alfa and Sika formerly known as the wrestling team The Samoans next to me. Not fun. Anyways, we get to the game Friday night and no word from Grid so I assume he never made it. What a shame cause the gift I had brought him was the original monkey bracelet he had sent me for winning the first PMBO back in May of 2005. As usual I think it was my idea but I never know with that bracelet. It could be like the one ring trying to get back to it's master and I'm just playing the rotund middle-man Golumn. Who knows? Saturday we go to the game and we sit down in our seats a little early and I check my phone. I get a text from a # I don't recognize. Damn tele-marketers will find any way to get a hold of you. Turns out it is Grid saying he is here. Of course I don't have the bracelet. The moment the text came though I had an urge to go home and get it. I think it was calling to me. Then someone brought me a beer and I was back to being myself. Grid asks where I'm sitting. I give him the section info. He says, "that's right by me, I'm third base side near the foul pole, lower level." I respond with, "exactly, except i'm on the first base side" We meet up at the bottom of the 3'rd behind home plate in the halls of the stadium. Houston is a nice place to watch a game. The roof is always closed and the AC is kicking at a cool 70 degrees all game. It's like watching a game at home except for the food and beer prices. My wife doesn't charge nearly that much. The fans are about as mellow as those watching a game from home. By game 3 though they were hating NYers since we took up about 35% of the seats. By the 6'th inning in game 3 on Sunday we were about 80% of the stadium. Anyways, the Grid/Rock meeting #2 was nice. We hung out, watched the game on tv, had a couple of beers and chatted for 3 innings before we went our separate ways to our seats. I got to meeting Grid Jr finally. I think he remembers more of names of players Grid has met then Grid does. Anyways, had a good time and thought I'd share it with all. Here is a pic of Grid and I. Took 3 panoramic lenses to get us both in the shot but so be it. Stock, I know you will be more concerned with the lady in the right side of the pic. Lets just say that the shot blocked out her worse feature. Enjoy.

I have to tell you that you guys look like twins. Ummm Rock, I would have hoped that after all this time you would finally change your shirt and "gumbada" chain. Who's been plucking away at your chest hairs? Don't tell me "paint on" went with you (at least it seems you used the paint remover for most of the lower half)? And most importantly, did the two of you sit down and have a load of beers and some kind of chicken stuff.......then put it all on Mad's card? Cause that would be the only way to go. Well, at least send him the bill. Oh, and I'll pick up the tip.....just like I tried to do last time. |
| Maybe that turns you on, morons; maybe that's how y'get your kicks. You and your good-time buddies. | |

So who was the little hottie in the back right corner? I can tell by the elbow, the shoulder and that Dinner napkin she's wearing that she was stalking you two. what is interleague merchandise? Is it different from major league? I bet they sold more yankee crap this wekend and didn't feel guilty for 1 second. |

They had shirts showing the date of the games and had both teams logo on them. They had a crap load of Yankee merchandise including All-Star game hats. What I found the funniest is everyday the Yankees played they had a give-away. Why have a give-away on the games that people will come to without needing a give-away? I don't get it. |

You need to go to marketing school, noob. Of course there will be more people turning out for those games. Giving away home-team chotchkies on a NYY gameday a) appears to boost loyalty for the home team, fence-sitters look like real fans and b.) leave a lingering subliminal home-team pride that will possibly bring them back to another game... making people *think* they like the Astros, when in fact, it's just because of the souvenir. I say this with certainty because I was a huge Detroit Tigers fan for several years of my youth only because the Friendly's Ice Cream near my house had helmet sundaes and I got a Detroit helmet, and a few days later took my chance in a gumball machine and got Detroit logo shoelaces. I had no clue where Detroit even was. Once I found out it was in Michigan, I quit liking them. But before that, when people saw my shoelaces and souvenir sundae helmet, they were like, 'hey, you a Tigers fan?' and I was like, 'Hells Yes!' Free stuff bribes people. That is America. p.s. stock is right, your chest fur is looking sparse. you feeling ok? did you get a chain caught in it and yank'em all out? |
