He was lost, now he's found: Terry Wallace's family speaks to News 11 Updated: Oct 16, 2007 09:33 AM EDT Missing Portage man found in Houston HOUSTON -- Terry Wallace -- missing since Sept. 28 -- has been found more than 1,000 miles from home -- in his truck in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The family of the 44-year-old from Portage says Terry's alive -- but confused and shaken. Terry disappeared suddenly after he was seen Sept. 28 on surveillance video, getting gas at the Meijer store on Route 20 in Rossford. Since then, the family received two anonymous letters postmarked Texas. One letter was hardly legible and contained a key -- possibly to Terry's truck. The second letter -- in print-- came over the weekend. But all that's in the past, and Terry's family is just celebrating finding him. "I just hugged him. Just grabbed him and held him and just, you know, told him we loved him," Terry's wife, Nancy, told News 11's Shelley Brown. "Every day, we would check his debit card to see if anyone had used it and Saturday night somebody had," explains Terry's father, Joe Wallace. Family members say bank records revealed a transaction at a Houston Wal-Mart over the weekend -- the first time Terry's card had been used since he went missing. After several calls, a Wal-Mart employee told family members a truck matching the description of Terry's had been in the parking lot for a week. Authorities in Texas approached Terry and confirmed his identity. The Wallace family is in Houston at this time and talked with Shelley Brown by phone. "He's real shaky, he has no clue what happened -- just that someone helped him," Nancy says. Family members say Terry remembers leaving the Meijer store in Rossford. The next thing he knew, he was in Louisiana -- and someone else was driving his truck, he says. That person gave him money, he says, and got out of the truck and told Terry to head west to Houston. Terry's family says they're taking him to a Houston hospital and hope to head back to Ohio some time Tuesday. The Wood County Sheriff's Office plans to interview Terry Wallace later this week. http://www.wtol.com/Global/story.asp?S=7216165&nav=menu34_10 YIPEE |
