http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2008/12/bessem...ting_missi.html Bessemer police treating missing person case as homicide Posted by Jeremy Gray -- The Birmingham News December 08, 2008 9:45 AM Categories: Breaking News Bessemer police today are seeking the help of U.S. Marshals and possibly the ATF in finding 23-year-old Walter Moore Jr., who was last seen Wednesday night. Walter Moore Jr.Workers at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Thursday found Moore's Grand Marquis with a window busted out and blood inside. Det. Perry Hurst said today the amount of blood found inside the car leads police to think foul play might be involved. "There's only so much blood you can lose," Hurst said. "We're working this like a homicide." No one has shown up at area hospitals or county coroners offices with an injury that would result in that much blood loss, Hurst said. Moore's family last saw him on Wednesday night sometime before 11 p.m., when he said he was going to McCalla with three men, his mother Ruby Moore said Sunday. Ruby Moore said she did not know why he was going there and said it was odd because her son "hadn't been getting along" with one of the three men. The family said police want to talk to the man Moore hadn't got along with, but Ruby Moore said her other four children have repeatedly been given inaccurate information about the man from people who know him. "People give them wrong cell phone numbers. Even the address where someone said he lives, it turns out it didn't exist," Ruby Moore said. Hurst said today he did not know if police have talked to those men, but said they want to if they haven't already. Ruby Moore said her other children are getting anonymous calls telling them that her son's body is in a creek near where the car was found. "People keep calling and saying he's here or he's there. Do you know how many creeks there are around here? And who told them where he is?" Ruby Moore asked. |

http://www.cbs42.com/news/local/35798774.html Bessemer Missing Persons Case Investigation Continues CBS 42 News 2008-12-09 07:42:43.0 A missing person’s case in Bessemer is now a homicide investigation. Walter Moore Jr.’s car was found next to Cedar Hill Cemetery Thursday morning. There was a lot of blood in the vehicle, but investigators don't know who it belonged to. Bessemer police say they will ask for help from federal marshals in trying to find Moore. His family says they got tips that he might be in a nearby creek. Searches haven't turned up anything. Moore’s mother-in-law Taranjih Cooper said, “All kind of things go through your mind and it's not getting any easier it's getting harder." Family members say Moore was headed to the McCalla area with three other men the night he disappeared. Police want to talk with them. |
