Body of tattooed man found in Mississippi identified Patrick Lee Manifold, 45, was found late Wednesday morning near the St. Anthony lock. By Paul Walsh, Star Tribune Identification was released Saturday night of the man with several tattoos and other distinguishing physical characteristics whose body was pulled from the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis after three months in the water. Patrick Lee Manifold, 45, was found late Wednesday morning near the St. Anthony lock, under the 3rd Avenue Bridge, said the Hennepin County medical examiner's office. A cause and manner of death have yet to be determined for the homeless man, the examiner's office said. One day after Manifold was pulled from the river by authorities, the examiner's office asked for the public's help in determining his identity. In particular, the office noted they he had tattoos of an eagle on his right shoulder, barbed wire with blood droplets on his right biceps, and a heart on his left forearm. Also, surgical hardware was in his right cheekbone. A sister of Manifold's, Ashley Kroells, of Monticello, said the identification was made thanks to X-rays from surgery he had, in particular placing titanium plates in his face. "I desperately need ... to find out what happened to him and how he ended up in the river," Kroells said. "My brother was homeless and had been for years. Living in a tent and shelters." Kroells said that her brother was known by many people downtown, and she is hoping that "maybe someone will know something or saw something the day or night he ended up in the river." She said the examiner's office told the family that Manifold had been dead for about three months. "He normally called my mother every once in a while to let her know that he was OK, but this time 10 months had gone by and not a call." http://www.startribune.com/local/44649932....GEP7vDEh7P:DiUs |
