Authorities found the body of a female around 7:45 this morning after receiving a phone call from someone driving by the area. Both the Steele County Sheriff and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the incident so it is still unclear how the woman died or how long her body had been there. The body was found in a ditch on 30th Street Northwest which is about a half mile north of Highway 14. It's a very rural area, the closet building is a farm house about a quarter mile from the scene. Authorities have expanded the search to other law enforcement agencies, but they still have no leads. "We are checking missing persons for a large area. We're trying to get this out to not only Minnesota, but the surrounding states. At this time we have no idea who this person is," says Steel County Sheriff Gary Ringhofer. The body that was found was an African American female, approximately 18 to 30 years old, between five and five and a half feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with black shoulder length wavy hair. She was found wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt and white shorts. The Dakota County Coroner will be performing an autopsy in the morning.
