Baltimore Police Need Help Finding Missing Woman
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ¯ Baltimore City police are searching for a missing woman.

Mia Nichols, 37, has been missing since Oct. 28. She is described as 5'4" and 115 pounds.

Police say her family hasn't heard from her and she hasn't reported to work.

"It's very unlikely that she would just leave them," said Troy Harris with Baltimore City Police.

Nichols has three children.

Police aren't saying why, but they do believe she is in danger. Anyone with information should call police.

37 Year Old Mia Lynn Nichols Missing Since October 28, 2008 in Baltimore, MD

Mia Lynn Nichols, 37, was last seen on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 when she left for work. According to police she never arrived at work and her vehicle was found near her home.

According to Officer Troy Harris of the Baltimore City Police Department, Nichols has three children. “For her to leave them unattended is very much against her personality, her character from what we’re getting from friends and family, so that’s definitely putting up the red flag that she may be in trouble,” said Harris.

According to police spokesperson Troy Harris, 37-year old Mia Lynn Nichols has been missing since October 28, when when she left her three children unattended at their home at 3901 W. Forest Park Ave. in West Baltimore.

Her family says it would be very unusual for Nichols to leave her children alone.

“That’s my sister, my only sister, just me and her. We talked twice a week, for her not to talk to me, or my parents/cousins, something is wrong,” says her brother Clarence Nichols.

Police say there were no signs of forced entry at the house on W. Forest Park.

Police Still Searching For Missing Baltimore Woman
Reporting
Tim Williams BALTIMORE (WJZ) ¯ The sudden disappearance of a local woman has Baltimore City investigators baffled. Mia Lynn Nichols has been missing for almost a month. Now her family is again searching for clues.

As Tim Williams reports, the case is hitting dead ends, but your help could make a difference.

Mia Nichols, 37, has been missing since Oct. 28. She last reported to work on that day and left the parking lot about 4:45 p.m. She hasn't been seen since.

"We just thought she got into an argument with her friend and just went out for the night. But when it went on for a couple of days is when we started to get a little suspicious because that's not like her," said Cheryl Nichols, Mia's mother.

"She was a hard-working female, very well liked. Kept in contact with her family each and every day. Has three kids and since the 28th, she has yet to contact anyone," said Detective Mark Hughes.

Mia's boyfriend was questioned but is not considered a suspect in her disappearance. Now there is no evidence. Her family came from their home in New Jersey, hoping to change that.

"That's not in her character to just walk off and just leave her children. Her and her brother, it's just the two of them, like two peas in a pod. No contact with him, her job, nothing. That's not like her," Cheryl said.

"We just need her to be strong, keep her faith and know that we're looking for her," her father, Clarence Nichols, said.

Mia works at Volunteers of America on East Monument Street. She last left work driving her green Acura. The car was later found near her Forest Park home in West Baltimore. There was no indication Mia ever returned to her house and police will not say if her belongings were recovered. They do tell Eyewitness News the case suggests foul play.

"The investigation right now may lead to some sort of suspicious activity going on right now, due to the fact that she hasn't reported to her family. That's not her normal occurrence that she does every day," Hughes said.

Mia has a 19-year-old daughter and two sons, 12 and eight. She has no criminal background. It's all the more reason she had no cause to leave, her family says.

"You're wondering if she's OK, is she alive. You don't want to think the worst. In my heart, I haven't given up on her though, and I'm trusting and believing that they're going to find her alive," Cheryl Nichols said.

If you have information, call police at 410-396-2100.

Baltimore police are still investigating the disappearance of a former Vineland resident who went missing Oct. 28.

Photo from wjz.com Mia Lynn Nichols, 38, was last seen that day leaving her job as an assistant administrator with Volunteers of America around 4:45 p.m.

Nichols' aunt, Linda Hunter-Feeney, is a Bridgeton area resident frustrated by the lack of answers thus far.

“To us, it looks like they're at a standstill,” she said of the investigation.

Hunter-Feeney said police are investigating, but must keep quiet about details.

“It's like we're in limbo,” she said.

Police questioned Nichols' boyfriend, Tyrone Lamont Webb, but did not consider him a suspect, according to Baltimore media reports. To her family's knowledge, they still do not.

Nichols has no criminal history, and family in this area said she kept frequent contact with them before she went missing.

“Sometimes, young women become overwhelmed,” Hunter-Feeney said, and they run away. But she and other family members have said Nichols is not the type to do so.

Nichols has three children, who lived at her home in West Baltimore until her disappearance.

Hunter-Feeney said Nichols' 19-year-old daughter now lives in Millville with her grandparents, and her sons, age 12 and 8, live with their paternal grandparents in Baltimore.

Nichols turned 38 on Dec. 16.

“There are two little boys in Baltimore who question, 'Where's my mom? Why would someone do that to my mom?'” Hunter-Feeney said.

She said Nichols' disappearance has been especially hard on her brother, Clarence Nichols III.

“All their lives, it's just been the two of them,” she said. “Every day of your life, your sibling is there. Then, out of the blue, (she's) gone.”

Hunter-Feeney said the family plans to go to Baltimore on Monday for a candle and balloon vigil.

They have established a reward fund in Mia's name at Capital Bank of New Jersey, on Main Road in Vineland.

“We're trying to put together fundraisers to add to the reward fund,” Hunter-Feeney said.

Nichols is black, 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs about 115 pounds.

There is a $2,500 reward for information leading to her whereabouts. Call Baltimore police at (410) 396-2100 with any information.

“Someone in Baltimore has the answers,” Hunter-Feeney said.

“If it's an accident, don't be afraid to come forward ... Eventually, it'll catch up to you. One day, you'll have to answer to God,” she admonished.

“But for now, we just want to find Mia.”

Nichols is originally from Bridgeton, Hunter-Feeney said. As a child, she moved to Vineland with her parents and her brother.

MILLVILLE - The family of a missing woman from the area hopes to further build a reward fund to find her with a fundraising event Sunday night.

Mia Lynn Nichols was last seen Oct. 28 leaving her job in Baltimore, as an assistant administrator with Volunteers of America.

Nichols grew up in Vineland and moved to Baltimore about 15 years ago.

Her aunt, Linda Hunter-Feeney, said Friday that a Baltimore police investigation has revealed nothing new to the family since she last spoke to The News Dec. 24.

Police say they suspect foul play in Nichols disappearance. They questioned her boyfriend, Tyrone Lamont Webb, but do not consider him a suspect.

Nichols, who turned 38 on Dec. 16, has no criminal history. She has three children, ages 8, 12 and 19, all of whom were living with grandparents as of December.

So far, the family has $2,500 in the reward fund at Capital Bank of New Jersey, in Vineland.

Tickets are $25 each for the event, which runs from 6 to 10 p.m., Sunday, at Sidelines Sports Bar, on South Sharp Street, in Millville.

There will be three hours open bar, a buffet and a disc jockey. There will also be a few door prizes and raffle tickets.

The family will hold a balloon and candlelight vigil near Nichols home in Baltimore on Feb. 7.

They had planned such a vigil for Dec. 29, but Hunter-Feeney said a water main break in the area at the time prevented it.
