TOWSON, Md. - Baltimore County police are still trying to figure out the identity of a man found floating in the Back River over a year ago.
County police released a forensic sketch of the man described as a white male between the ages of 40 and 60. He was found floating in the Back River under the Interstate 695 bridge on September 8, 2011. Witnesses told police that his body had not been there earlier in the day. The body had been in the water for a significant amount of time and police said there were no signs of foul play.

Despite a year of investigation, detectives have not been able to identify the victim through the autopsy, DNA, or fingerprints. The cause of death remains undetermined.

Police said forensic artists try to recreate the features as closely as possible, but some features of the victim may look slightly different. Police are releasing the photographs to the public in the hope that we can identify the victim and notify his next of kin.

Anyone with information about the identity of the victim is asked to contact the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-307-2020

Baltimore County police ask for help identifying man's remains
Man's remains found in Back River in September 2011
Published 1:03 PM EST Feb 13, 2013

BALTIMORE —Baltimore County police are again asking for the public's help identify a composite sketch of remains found in 2011.

On Sept, 8, 2011, officers were called to the Back River under the Interstate 695 Bridge for a report of a body in the water. A witness told officers that the body had not been there early in the day. There were no signs of foul play, and the body had been in the water for a significant period of time, police said.

Authorities said despite nearly a year and a half of investigation, detectives have not been able to identify the victim through the autopsy, DNA or fingerprints and the cause of death remains undetermined.

A Baltimore County Police Department forensic artist completed a skull reconstruction in an attempt to determine what the victim may look like. Forensic artists attempt to recreate the features as closely as possible, but some features of the victim may look slightly different.

Police released the photographs to the public in October 2012 to identify the victim and notify his next-of-kin. They said they received information that the victim might be a man who was reported missing in Howard County, but detectives said they determine it is not that individual.

Detectives said they are reaching out to surrounding states and asking residents in those areas to contact Baltimore County Police if they recognize the victim, who is described as a white man, 40 to 60 years old.

Anyone with information about the identity of the victim is asked to contact the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-307-2020.

DNA Tests Identify Dead Man Found Floating In River 4 Years Ago
September 16, 2015 9:12 AM

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore County Police used DNA tests to identify a dead male found floating in Back River four years ago.

On the afternoon of September 8, 2011, an unclothed adult male was found floating in Back River under the I-695 bridge.

Initial investigations, which included checking missing persons reports in Baltimore County and Baltimore City, couldn’t verify the man’s identity.

After sending DNA samples to the University of North Texas, the body had been identified as 79-year-old William H. Bagley of the 1800 block of Woodbourne Avenue in Baltimore City.

He reportedly had mental disabilities and was reported missing from his home in August of 2011.
