Unidentified Possibly Black or White Male

The victim was discovered on August 4, 1988 in north of Elverta, Sacramento County, California
State of Remains: Skeletal
Estimated Date of Death: 4 months prior

Estimated age: 30-35 years old
Approximate Height and Weight: 6'1"
Distinguishing Characteristics: Possibly White. Bald.
Clothing: Only a few remaining pieces of garment suggest that he was wearing a sweatshirt; nylon/polyester sport pants; and tennis shoes.

The victim was located on a levee road north of Elverta, California on August 4, 1988. A bullet casing was found under his torso. Uncovered near a popular dumping ground for rubbish and junk. The obscured remains may never have turned up if not for a controlled levee burn conducted in mid-July by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The skeleton was on its stomach, both legs straight out, head tilted to the side, with its chin resting on its left hand.
Due to the recent brush fire, only scraps of clothing remained -- a patch of blue pants, possibly of a utility type, a bit of a stained sweat shirt, and scorched metal eyelets from what presumably were canvas athletic shoes.
The heat of the fire destroyed all dental work. It also cracked and splintered the bones, making detection of trauma, as well as identification of earlier fractures, all but impossible.
Damage to the mandible area was too severe to attempt a reconstruction.
No cause of death could be determined.
