Unidentified bodies found: Can you help identify these John and Jane Does?
Eleven unidentified bodies have been found in Orlando in the past few decades.
By Bianca Prieto, Orlando Sentinel

Orlando detectives are working to identify 11 unidentified bodies found on city streets during the past few decades.

These unclaimed, nameless men and women remain to be identified, years after their deaths. Police have tried to find out who these John and Jane Does are, but over time the cases have become cold.

The Orlando cases represent only a small percentage of the total number of unidentified remains across the state. Florida has 572 unidentified bodies — 441 men and 131 women, according to the Doe Network, a volunteer organization that works to reunite families with missing or unidentified persons.

Orlando police released sketches of 10 nameless victims in the hope that someone will recognize them and call the new tip line devoted to missing-person cases. Detectives are working to get a sketch in the remaining case, which dates from 1982.

"Somewhere out there, there's a family who is missing a loved one," Detective Patrick Schneider said. "They deserve to know."

Anyone with information can call the tip line at 407-246-2916.
