Feb. 25, 1994; Baby John Doe, newborn. A Hispanic or mixed-race baby boy was found inside a plastic bag in the Edgecombe County landfill by a BFI truck driver. The baby was left in a dumpster near Edgecombe Community College, then taken to the landfill and dumped along with tons of trash. The baby, who was alive when he was born, was wrapped in a curtain with a flowered design, then stuffed inside a Food Lion grocery bag. Part of the baby's umbilical cord was still attached when he was found, which probably was one or two days after he was born. http://www.rockymounttelegram.com/local/co...erssidebar.html |

Unidentified Male Infant * The victim was discovered on February 25, 1994 in Pinetops, Edgecombe County, North Carolina * Estimated Date of Death: 1 day prior Vital Statistics * Estimated age: Newborn. 1-2 days old. * Approximate Height and Weight: 21"; 6.5 lbs. * Distinguishing Characteristics: Possibly Hispanic or mixed-race. Well-nourished, full-term. Thick and black hair; brown eyes. * Clothing: Wrapped in floral print curtains. Case History The victim was located in a landfill area at Sparta Road. The surrounding trash probably originated from the Crisp, Pitts Crossroads, Edgecombe Tech, Trianangle, Heritage Hospital or Town of Tarrboro area. Sanitation workers believe it to be from an open trash container located at Edgecombe Technical Community College. There were several witnesses who indicated a young woman driving a blue car was seen in the immediate vicinity of the container (looking in and around it) in the previous day, which they found odd given it was raining. His body was wrapped in floral print curtains, inside a "Food Lion", plastic grocery bag.
