The unidentified man was between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-3 tall, and likely died between 1995 and 2001. Work crew finds remains, possibly human By Seattle Times staff Skeletal remains that appeared to be human were found Monday afternoon by a construction crew in Redmond, police reported. Crews cleaning a home-construction site near the 15500 block of Northeast 68th Court spotted bones about 1:30 p.m. in foliage between the site and Highway 520. It "looks like a complete body," said Commander Ed Billington of Redmond Police Department. A skull, ribs and femurs have been found. A pair of shoes were also retrieved about five feet from the remains, but police don't know if the shoes are connected to the body. Police and King County Medical Examiner's Office workers were removing the bones from the area about 5 p.m. It wasn't immediately known how long the bones had been there, Commander Kristi Wilson of Redmond Police Department said. Police are investigating. The construction site had been brush until last year when construction began. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...remains26m.html |

Redmond skeletal remains unidentified Redmond No identification has been made of skeletal human remains found in Redmond, the King County Medical Examiner's Office reported Tuesday. The remains were found Monday afternoon by a construction crew, according to the Redmond Police Department. "It's almost a full skeleton," said Cmdr. Kristi Wilson. An initial review at the scene by the medical examiner's staff concluded the remains were those of a white male. Crews cleaning a home-construction site near the 15500 block of Northeast 68th Court saw the bones about 1:30 p.m. Monday in foliage between the site and Highway 520. A skull, ribs and other bones were found. A pair of shoes also was found about 5 feet from the remains, but police don't know if the shoes belonged to the person whose body was found. It wasn't known how long the bones had been there, Wilson said, and the site had been brush until last year, when construction began. Wilson said Tuesday that police haven't been able to "narrow down" a possible identification of the person and that there isn't a good enough description of the remains to allow further progress on an investigation until more information is known. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca..._glance27e.html |

Police hope sketch will help ID remains found in Redmond 04:40 PM PDT on Thursday, July 5, 2007 By KIM HOLCOMB / KING 5 News RPD The sketch is a facial reconstruction of the skull associated with skeletal remains found at a Redmond construction site on June 25, 2007. REDMOND, Wash. - They don't know who he is, but investigators believe they have an idea of what the man whose skeletal remains were discovered near SR 520 in Redmond last week looks like. "I only know them as bones, but I know that's a person, was a person," said forensic pathologist Kathy Taylor, who examined the remains and helped determine the man's basic characteristics. The man was white, 20 to 35 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-3 inches tall. From there, an artist reconstructed his face. "A lot of the true facial characteristics will come out in a sketch based only on the skull we have in our possession," said Taylor. Redmond Police say the artist used the actual skull to measure the distance between and fullness of the man's features. The cut and color of his hair are just a guess, but investigators believe the sketch is otherwise fairly accurate. "It gives us a real good starting point to start narrowing our leads and hopefully focus our investigation," said Lt. Tim Gately. "It's a little startling for me when I see the finished product," said Taylor. It's a step toward ending a mystery, and possibly, a family's pain. The skeleton lay deep in the brush for six or seven years. Now, Taylor hopes the discovery and forensic artistry will bring someone, somewhere, some closure. "I feel their pain and I know that they go to sleep every night not knowing where their loved one is and if they're healthy, and we want to be able to answer those questions," she said. There's no way to know if the man had any defining characteristics, like a mole or tattoo, but if you think you recognize his facial features, call Redmond Police at 425-556-258 http://www.king5.com/localnews/stories/NW_...W.47c05c35.html |

Sketch fleshes out Redmond skeletal remains By Amy Roe Seattle Times Eastside bureau PREV of NEXT This sketch is a facial reconstruction of a skull found with remains last week. Remains discovered in Redmond now have a face, if not a name. Redmond police released an artist's sketch of what the man may have looked like in hopes that the public might recognize the likeness. On June 25 construction workers discovered the set of bones, nearly a full skeleton, in foliage near Highway 520 and the 15500 block of Northeast 68th Court. The Medical Examiner's Office determined that the bones, including a skull and ribs, were those of a white male 20 to 35 years old and between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet, 3 inches tall. The man had a crooked chin, prominent brow and a nose that canted to the left. Beyond that, police have few clues. Redmond police spokesman Tim Gately said police don't know how, why or when the man died, but are trying to create a time frame based on physical evidence at the scene, such as how "unearthed" the body was compared to nearby physical structures such as a fence built by the state Department of Transportation. The man may have been just passing though the area, or been injured in an accident involving a vehicle towed long ago. "He could be from anywhere," Gately said. The man's teeth, all present and intact, were relatively straight. "It's blatantly obvious when you looked at the remains that, wow, he has nice teeth," Gately said. Still, a search of dental records turned up no matches. If the public can help police determine the man's identity, it could provide closure to family who may have been searching for him, Gately said. That's important, he added, because whether or not the man was local, "These remains were found in our community — he's a member of our community." Amy Roe: 206-464-3347 or aroe@seattletimes.com |
