Details of Disappearance

Rojas was last seen in Rowland Heights, California just before noon on May 7, 1996. Rojas's older brother later heard the front door slam and discovered his sister was missing and she had left a half-eaten sandwich and her purse, money, backpack and pager. She has never been heard from again.
Rojas was a senior at Rowland High School when she disappeared. She ran away previously and took many personal belongings, including the drapes, but when she went missing in May 1996 she took nothing with her. Rojas's mother stated her daughter had been acting oddly prior to her disappearance and did not order a cap and gown for her upcoming graduation. She believes Rojas ran away from home when she disappeared in May 1996.

The circumstances surrounding Rojas's disappearance remain unclear.

On May 7, 1996, 17-year-old Adriana Rojas called her mother at work and said she was going to rest at home before heading to night class. Her older brother later heard the front door slam. Rojas left behind a half-eaten sandwich and her purse, money, backpack and pager. Adriana Rojas also told her mother she wanted to move and hated the house that she used to love before. The teen also didn't bring home papers for a graduation cap and gown, which led her mother to suspect she didn't want to graduate. Adriana was close to her siblings but in the last few months wouldn't talk to her older brother and was fighting with her little brother.
While it was unknown whether she ran away or was abducted, detectives believe there is enough evidence to indicate foul play.
Her mother told detectives the girl had run away once before, but that time she had packed for her two-week absence. This time she did not. When she ran away from home before she took a lot of items including drapes. But this time, she left with nothing. There's been no word from her since.
