Missing Woman Search

Last Update: Mar 26, 2007 4:06 PM

Posted By: Kristin Lowman

It’s a mystery that has puzzled a Cohoes Family since 1991 when their mother moved to western New York with her then boyfriend, and vanished less than a year later. Now, her daughter has enlisted the help of law enforcement to figure out what happened to her nearly 20 years ago.

When Judy Guerin left for western New York she was going through tough times. The Cohoes woman had just lost her husband and was leading a life her family didn’t approve of. But despite her troubles, Judy still kept in contact with her daughter Amy.

Today, Amy Kusaywa says that contact stopped suddenly in January of 1991. She called the local police department who said to wait and that Judy would turn up. But 16 years later, Judy hasn’t turned up and her family believes something happened to Guerin.

After watching her mother’s case fall through the cracks, Kusaywa decided to take matters into her own hands and enlisted the help of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department to find out what happened to Judy. So far the investigation has revealed Judy left her job and never showed up again, her trailer and possessions were sold, and all personal records and correspondence stopped after February of 1991.

Kusaywa says she doesn’t hold much hope that her mother will be found alive, but she hopes to find out what happened to her mother and where she might be.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department says they do have persons of interest in this case but are still asking for your help.

If you have any information you’re asked to call 315-946-9711 Or log onto their website at www.waynecosheriff.org
