First piece is up.

Good news: I see no red. Looks to be focused on silver & (royal) blue with navy blue trim.

Wish I could go next Wednesday, but will be out of town.

Agree, P6. Though it's only one piece, so far so good.

:D

They did not give us much today, but it's starting to look like it might have a fleur-de-lis in it:

No red, and looks like the effort to push "New Orleans" over "UNO" will carry over into the logo. I think you're probably right about the fleur-de-lis as well. So far so good.

Possibly below NEW ORLEANS is PRIVATEERS inscribed on a silver cutlass.

Okay, I'm wrong, it's not a cutlass.

Here's Day 4. Yep, Bill, it doesn't look like a cutlass; just kind of a ribbon.

Definitely looks like a fleur de lis.

In fact, with the color scheme, it's kinda starting to look like the Zephyrs' Fleur de Z.

Did we get our coach AND our logo from the Z's?

Actually, the Z's color scheme is probably partially inspired by UNO. Unless you think it was a coincidence that the green mysteriously disappeared right around the time Maes got there and got replaced by (admittedly darker blue) and silver. :D

Bluebeard the Privateer. Trying to hold off on judging until I see the whole thing. But no red is good.

Interesting. Looks to be the face of a Privateer on a fleur de lis?

Looking like that. And then we'll get the Privateer face on Wednesday.

Also, Morel tweeted out our home page logo background this morning. Talking about the evolution of the Privateer... :D

With yesterday's piece #6.

“Our logo is the primary visual aspect of our brand; which, along with our Southland Conference affiliation, institutional mission and championship culture, is an extension of our athletics identity. We are focused on building a brand which is representative of our university, our students, our alumni and our great city" - Director of Athletics Derek Morel

---

In response to a post on Facebook, the athletic department confirmed that there is no red in this logo. Someone asked what was wrong with the previous mascot and noted they liked that version of the privateer. The official site posted this in response:

"The mascot has not changed at all. As a University, this was a great time for a change in-conjunction with significant changes at the University and with the athletic department. The new logo also removes the red, which many focus groups were adamantly opposed to. This is also the first time that an outside firm that specializes in logo, branding has developed our logo - allowing us to have a unique identity for the first time in a long time."

Reduno, don't take offense, as I don't think they were refering to you...... :P
