On Charter, Ch 307 (I think?) standard and 822 HD. For those of you with Cox, find somebody with UVerse or Charter, or find an internet stream of questionable legality. |

UNO getting a rude intro to life on the road in the Big 10. Quick lesson: You get no calls. |

Yeah, it's certainly not the difference in the game, but our inside guys have gotten NOTHING from the refs so far. Dixon is getting glancing blows every time he touches the ball and I think has only gotten to the line once. 44-27 Spartans at the half. UNO hung tough for a while, even leading for most of the first 10 minutes. Some encouraging things: Derenbecker looks good (again) but has three fouls. Mack looks strong off the dribble. Syon has three offensive boards. I love the progression they have made heading into the SLC schedule. |

Yeah, we won't win and I don't know how close we can even stay, but I really haven't seen anything in this one to make me think we aren't going to be a pretty tough out in the Southland. |

Slessinger's teams have a tendency to REALLY check out of games in a big way at a certain point in a blowout. Usually we either have a moral victory, an actual victory, or a total massive wipeout of epic proportions. Even given it was Michigan State that second half was pretty embarrassing. Oh well. |

Liked what I saw in the first half. Things got ugly in the second. Still good to see UNO play, on TV, against a Top 5 opponent. |

I maintain what I said at the half, nothing in this game makes me doubt that this is going to be a feisty Southland team this year. We have a really nice 1-2 punch with Derenbecker and Dixon, with several complementary pieces that are capable of having nice nights on any given night to support our 1-2 guys. We're going to win some conference games. Sometimes this just happens to us in guarantee games. Mississippi State last year, Hawaii, Michigan State second half I put in the same category. Sucks, but oh well. Moving on. |

My casual thoughts: Jim Jackson hit it on the head yesterday. When we forced them into a half court offense in the first half, we could hold our own. When we missed long twos that became fastbreak opportunities, we got crushed. We also had no answer for Adrien whatshisname, their stud in the front court. I thought He made some nice plays for others as well as dominated the paint. Nice effort for a while, but just not enough bullets. On to the next one. |
