To the University of the Incarnate Word, the ladies lose by 29, the men trailing now by 20 in the second half. Fair to say, other than the D1/2/3 mess, this is the low point of my UNO fandom. Brutal. |

Pros: Because both games were blowouts, they went quickly with no late game fouling or timeouts, getting most everyone home just about in time for Saints kickoff. Cons: Absolutely, positively everything else. I'm really discouraged. You really do need to be patient with the situation we're trying to come back from, but Incarnate Word is a program we should theoretically be ahead of at this point in our respective developments. They've had less time to build a D1 program than we have. A 23-point loss in Lakefront Arena? UNO not even competitive in this one. You've got to be kidding me. I think it can be definitively said that we're behind where we should be at this stage of our rebuild. |

Between the Saints, Pelicans and Privateers...I'm not feeling very good at all right now. |

I guess most of you guys are much younger than me but the Saints just being in the playoff is a major accomplishment for guys my age. We went decades without getting a whiff of the playoffs. When we were your age we were talking about "Just wait until next year" several weeks, and in some cases, months ago and then watched the "other" teams on TV until the Superbowl. The older guys like me had the Jazz with Pistol Pete which was at least entertaining, so I can't say much about the Pelicans. UNO......we just need to give it some time. |

The "give it some time" thing works in all cases except when we're playing a team with less D1 time than we've had. There's no reason why Incarnate Word should be ahead of us, but they clearly are. As for the Saints, there's nothing wrong with wanting championships when Drew Brees is your QB and you've got a championship core whose title window is closing. In a few years we can be happy with the playoffs again when we've got a young upstart overachieving team. When you've got a team capable of winning a title, it really sucks to leave it on the table (though that applies much more to 2011 than 2013 for the Saints). |

UNO Men: this team is going backwords, not forward. Too many turnovers, missed defensive assignments. I can't believe that this is not a product of NOT listening to the coaching staff. UNO women: time to think about just folding the tent. Playing more games just makes things worse for next year. It's just awful, sickening, disgusting. Saints: I've told my friends the last 2 years.......remember these days when we're in our rockers because we won't have this too much longer. But when the defense THOROUGHLY outplays the offense EVERY GAME, it's time for some change. I think robinson is next years stud. Time to get some new plays in and stop thinking about the screen. The defense played better than the offense ALL YEAR LONG. Pelicans: I LOVE MONTY but he's had enough time to do it here and enough players. But when you get all these guys hurt, there ain't much you can do. new Orleans sports is finished for this year. I think I'll take up badminton! |

I am troubled by the Men's Team. I understand blow outs to major programs, but blow outs to teams like Incarnate Word are unacceptable. The style of play that I witnessed in the win against Abilene Christian is also unacceptable. One on one basketball all night. This is NO TEAM. They should not even refer to themselves as a team. One guy gets the ball drives and challenges four and somtimes five palyers to the hoop. It is not funto watch and it should not be tolerated. I understand patience and I know we need some. However, when a talented freshmen is allowed to do whatever he wants with the basketball and there is no consequence for him ignoring his four teammates what does that say for the future? I was concerned after that win and now I am discouraged after the performace against Incarnate Word. |

I grant a little forgiveness on that stuff because this team has no true point guard. Nate Frye is probably the closest thing to it but he's a freshman and is still learning the college game. McPhearson and Mack are decent complementary pieces but not really good passers. When Link Nelson was running the show last year, you saw a little bit more teamwork and coherent offense, albeit with less overall talent on the team. None of the four fall signees are PGs either... I'd like to see us add one in the spring, though I could definitely see Frye stepping up into that role next year. Hoping for better passers in general. |

maybe they wanted to see the Saints play and weren't focused on the game....this team has played better this season than what is being reported from those of you at the game. As far as the Saints, they are getting a bit long in the tooth at some positions but I see a few diamonds on this team and I haven't lost the confidence that Payton and Loomis will find a few more diamonds in the rough. I really believe that Drew was uncomfortable with being hit so many times that he just didn't have the focus that he had in the past. Maybe they need to restructure his deal to keep Graham and get a couple of good lineman to help protect him. I am sure the front office can pick up a decent linebacker or 2 to help with the D get a bit faster. |
