Interesting. Although she had her tallest player (by a lot) sitting out the season, I have to think this is the first win/loss-related coach firing here in awhile.

No reason to be 0-18 in the Southland even at this stage. A win here and there is not an unreasonable expectation.

Per UNO web site

"Assistant Coach Dustin Sahlmann has been named the interim head coach, while a national search is conducted to fill the vacancy."

If history is our guide, the search will end with the word interim removed.

I didn't realize that every conference loss was either 0-3 (11 times) or 1-3 (7 times)... not even a single 2-3 loss.

Morel has to be looking at women's hoops, too, right? 0-15. Losses at home to the transitional teams by an average of 36.5 points. Oh man.

In volleyball, women's basketball, and men's basketball combined, our record against the transitionals is 1-5. That's all at home. I think we can be patient and still be way less than thrilled with this.

Yeah, not to pat myself on the back too hard but I mean, I've shown up for almost every women's basketball game for the past decade plus (not counting the sub-D1 years). If they move away from doubleheaders, though, I'm going to have to start slacking off. There's supporting the team through tough times, and then there's what UNO women's basketball is right now.

I am in favor of waiting until the season is over to review each program individually. However, I will state that with the amount of success that Girl's High School Volleyball and Basketball teams have in Southeast Louisiana there is no excuse for either of those programs at UNO to ever finish last in the Southland Conference.

"A total of 11 volleyball players made the honor roll with two – Marti Richmiller and Cara Sander – achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA"
