Shocking.

The early season schedule is loaded with home games. How many games will be affected?

UNO season ticket holders now have to buy another ticket to the LSU game at Zephyr, or is it included in those ridiculously inflated prices? Speaking of those season ticket prices, if the LSU game is not included, are those coming down?

So many questions. And if it's true it's pretty typical we hear about it not from UNO, but from some random email alert from the Zephyrs.

We planned a trip in for that weekend so we could be at the reopening of Maestri Field. :( At least we'll still be seeing Maestri's first game back in charge. (Edit: I guess that's his second game. Not sure if we'll go up to Alex Box on Friday).

Nothing on unoprivateers.com and the schedule there still lists that (and all home games) at Maestri Field.

http://www.unoprivateers.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball

Very odd that the Z's would be the first to announce it (on the day that tickets go on sale!).

It's on the Ticketmaster site:

http://www.ticketmaster.com/uno-privateers...4&minorcatid=10

That site says this:

"Seats from section 114 through 124 (dugout to dugout) are $20. The rest are $15. UNO will be in the first base dugout, and LSU will be in the third base dugout."

I was stunned by the email and flipped to unoprivateers.com to see what happened and there was nothing there so I posted the email on the "Island".

OOF.

Possibly THE most UNO thing ever, which is tough competition. I've joked numerous times about playing LSU at Barrow to start the year, but... same idea.

Of course, you'll notice that not just the LSU logo, but the South Alabama and Indiana State logos are up top -- our first three weekends. It doesn't actually mention those games in the text, but... yeah. No Texas Southern? Back to glorious Barrow for those? I assume we probably get a very cheap rate from the Z's because of Maes.

I understand money problems, I understand construction delays. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE SMALL LOYAL FAN BASE THAT HAS STAYED THROUGH ALL OF THE ATTEMPTS TO CHASE US AWAY!

Agreed... though I don't understand this particular construction delay either. You've been hyping this event for like a year plus. This is a deadline you REALLY need to make. The opponent and the opposing coaches are actually tied into the opening of the park. We can play LSU at Zephyr anytime.

Sheesh.

Yep. This game just went from being a landmark UNO event - LSU as the opponent in the reopening of the intimate setting of Maestri Field, to basically being an LSU home game.

On the bright side, I hope we make a ton of money from the gate.

UNO press release on this, with quotes from Morel, is showing up on my iPhone UNO Privateers app. But not yet on the athletics website.

There is no excuse that the first notice to UNO fans of this came from an email from the Zephyrs. The announcement should have come first from UNO. The timing is terrible. I for one have been talking up the reopening of Privateer Park when trying to get UNO Alums to buy season tickets. As late as last night I gave a pitch and several were ready to bite. I do not want the park open before it is ready but they did not find this out late last night. Really bad timing on the notice of this thing, NO EXCUSE.

A week ago the USM games switched locations. They've known about this for awhile.

Now I see why Tulane put a web camera 24/7 on their baseball and football stadium construction sites. No one had to ask how construction was progressing or not, they just logged in and saw for themselves.

The article quoting Morrel fails to address what delayed the construction. And it failed to address if the advertised ticket prices include tickets to wherever the games are played.
