Game tips in a few minutes. Should be a test against the 6-1 Islanders, but a game the Privateers can win if they play well.

Gill and Harrison have both hit a three. Dixon has a couple jumpers. 12-12 early.

18-14 UNO. Two fouls on Knowles. Dixon checks in. Gotta pound em inside here.

Sounds like another Saturday night in the Southland, ref-wise.

"The big white kid jumped into him."

One of the referees tonight explaining a call to Coach Sless.

Oh boy.

Privateers do lead 26-22 at the break. 8 blocked shots as a team in the first half.

Kevin Hill's starting to become a real terror. Love it.

TAMU-CC shooting just 23%, probably not a great sign though that we're only up 4 given that stat.

UNO up 7 at the under 12 timeout. LOTTA whistles in the second half. Not quite to Nicholls level I guess, but a lot. Sless has also gotten a warning for no apparent reason. Sounds like quite a crew again tonight. Ugly game but don't care in the least if we can pull it off.

TAMUCC's big guy tries to dribble and gets it slapped away. Jude Young calls it the "ultimate no-no for a big guy." Jude, come on. We know you want to call it "The Melvin."

Up 38-31. Keep it up, boys.

UNO surges, quick 7-0 run to go up 45-31!

UNO up 10 at the under 8. Corpus Christi starting to make a move here, their best few minutes of offense of the night. Good time for a timeout to regroup hopefully.

52-44 UNO. Privateers have been in control all night but this has taken on the feeling of trying to hold on. 5 minutes to go.

62-53 with a minute and change left. Privateers held off an Islanders surge, just trying to finish this one off now.

70-62 final, great win! Privateers were not at their best (24 turnovers), so it's great to knock off the second place team in the league on the road while not playing great. UNO in control throughout, got tested down the stretch but held on. The road warriors move on to Southeastern next.

You said it. That's a heck of a win. That's a win good teams get. We played pretty well early, but got real sloppy. To win, on the road, against a team that had been playing really well when you don't play your best? That's a good win.

TAMUCC obviously shot the ball terribly from all over the floor, but our D definitely contributed to that.

BIG GAME on Thursday night in Hammond.

Really sorry I missed listening to this one.........had to spend time with some friends moving to Cali this weekend and couldn't get anywhere near a radio.

Can't explain this team......winning 2 games on the road yet having trouble at home with some. Gill seems to be a BIG igniter for the team. Are they better since Matt left?

I think it would be a better team with a healthy, productive Derenbecker... but I also think this is a better team than the team that played the first four Southland games with an ineffective Derenbecker eating up 20+ minutes of floor time.

And that's even without Teris Bourgeois who's been injured for the entire Southland season thus far. No idea when/if he's supposed to get back in the mix but he was starting to come along nicely and also had a lot to do with the UTEP win*.

*Note: UTEP is now 14-6 and has won nine out of 10 since losing to UNO. Unlike some of our notable road wins in the past (NC State, Villanova spring to mind immediately), UTEP looks as good or better in retrospect.

I wish I could make the trip to SE this thurs but that won't be possible. Shame too since it's such an easy ride and a nice place to catch a game.
