Not to make excuses, but I think that some of this is due to the lack of resources in the Athletic Department. Do we even have a true SID? The lack of a D-I non-conderence opponent is disappointing, but it is what it is rising from the ashes. |

THIS!. We can no longer make excuses for things like this. Student workers, players, coaches....SOMEONE must fact check, spell check and edit these things before they go out. I understand scheduling is an ongoing thing....I do it for a living but there's no excuse to STILL continue to have issues like this. It just looks so high school. As for the schedule, I'm with you, NS.....home schedule is weak. Not gonna get any new fans coming to the arena facing many of those teams. |

We're playing Southern and South Alabama. I just think they are those "closed-door" scrimmages that have become popular the last few years. I'm sure those games are taking place, they just shouldn't have been posted on a public schedule. |

So Tulane forced us to play them when we had no scholarship players but they are still not on the schedule when we are back playing D1? I hope all Privateer fans remember that Tulane does not want us to exist in D1 before they spend a penny to support them in their new football home. There is no excuse for this game not to be played. |

True, but on the other hand, if we are going to play a non-D1 home pre-conference schedule, why not Loyola, Xavier, or Dillard. |

I agree with you Bill. That way you may get at least a few fans to show up from those schools or at least attract a minimal amount of local media interest. The home schedule is not attractive at all. It will be very easy for the media to ignore our home slate, especailly non conference. |

So it goes with Southland non-league scheduling. I wish we could have saved Boise State for this year. This team should be better able to handle the Boise States. Some of those road games should be possibly winnable, but it's the road. On another note, the league schedule is now Saturday-Monday instead of Thursday-Saturday. Not sure what to think about that as Thursday is almost the beginning of the weekend and Monday is... Monday. It looks like the women's league schedule mostly remains Thursday-Saturday, which puts an end to weekday doubleheaders that would go on pretty late (our start times were 7:45 at the earliest). I'd have switched the women's games to Saturday-Monday but there it is. |

This is worse than an average home schedule for a Southland school. Only McNeese had an 0-fer last year, as far as DI non-conference home opponents, and the average seemed to be a little on the plus side of two (not counting ORU, ACU, and UIW). Sure, I'd have season tickets if I lived in town, but I'd have a more difficult time asking folks to join me for Crowley's Ridge than I would for Alcorn State or, for that matter, Dillard, SUNO, Loyola, Xavier. |

Yeah, I really don't get why not Xavier, Dillard, etc. I could actually see not playing those teams in the very first year of our D1 rebuild, because they were probably good enough to theoretically beat us then. Our program has built up enough talent now where we should be able to play those teams without fear of losing, but they're still good enough to force us to play the sport of basketball in order to beat them. Crowley's Ridge et al are undoubtedly better than Champion Baptist (if I take one positive from this non-conference schedule, it's their absence) but I would still imagine those games are going to be somewhat glorified layup drills. |

Last year, Crowley's Ridge beat Champion Baptist 80-63 at home, but lost to them 84-86 on the road, so it's not a given they'll be better. ![]() As for vs. DI, last season, Crowley's Ridge lost by 14 at HBU and at SIU Edwardsville by 29. They actually played a home-and-home with Robert Morris, which freaked me out, because why would a DI school go to Crowley's Ridge? Turns out there's another Robert Morris University in Illinois that plays in the NAIA! |

This non-conference home schedule stinks. Is this what we have to look forward to in the Southland? Are we not able get a Div I school to come to UNO? You would at least some teams might come here thinking it'll be an easy road win. Did beating Fresno State last year scare Div ! schools from wanting to come here? |

Hmmm. I don't think we beat Fresno State last year. We played Boise State at home but lost to them by 20 before the largest crowd in years. Undoubtedly, the biggest win last year was on the road against Tim Floyd's UTEP team. I agree though. The non-conference home schedule is bad. |

I guess it'll be the same number of empty seats again this year? Is the lack of money the reason? bad scheduling? I'm just curious. |

You got me. It could be about wins in part, because I think we'll struggle on the road against some of the teams we're playing. While I don't expect to be playing against the caliber of teams we've played at home in the past (Arizona, Notre Dame, LSU, NC State), one lower tier D-1 opponent on the schedule would have been nice. These days though, with money being the driving force, maybe we simply couldn't afford any guarantee money at this point in time. No Champion Baptist though! |

But we've replaced them with Crowley's Ridge who, as P6 pointed out earlier, lost to Champion Baptist last season... |

Technically, they split. Believe me, I'm not thrilled with playing Crowley's Ridge, but at least we'll see new uniforms. Glad that P-6 cleared up the Crowley's Ridge vs Robert Morris game for me. I had thought that it was THE Robert Morris, not a NAIA team with the same name. |
