After 10 years, Coleman Edwards is headed back home. Edwards, who will be a senior point guard at Fort Bend Clements High in Sugar Land, Texas, this school year committed to the UNO men's basketball program Saturday along with shooting guard Cameron Reed of Louisville, Ky.

Edwards, 6-foot-2, was born in New Orleans and lived on the West Bank until 2005 when he left with his family for the Houston area following Hurricane Katrina.

"The main thing, it (UNO) is in New Orleans,'' said Edwards, who was a District 23-5A selection last season. "They (UNO coaches) wanted me. They called me a lot, recruited me really hard. I looked forward to coming back home. I'd really like to get on the court next year.''

Edwards, who said he has a 3.1 grade-point average, averaged 17.3 points and 3.7 assists per game as a junior last season. Clements High will move up to District 23-6A this season. He's a three-time all-district selection and was the 23-5A Freshman of the Year in 2012.

Reed, a 6-5 shooting guard from Eastern High in Louisville, averaged 14.8 points last year and was a second team All-Seventh Region selection. He averaged 40 percent from 3-point range last season and 80 percent from the free throw line.

Both seniors for the 2014-15 school year will be eligible to sign during the early signing period in November.

The Times-Pic added a story on Colley.

http://www.nola.com/uno/index.ssf/2014/08/...commitment.html

The article reports that Colley "also had offers from Idaho and Florida A&M and is rated as a three-star prospect by Scout."

Eastern's Reed commits to New Orleans
RECRUITING
Steve Jones, swjones1@courier-journal.com 2:44 p.m. EDT August 23, 2014

Eastern High School shooting guard Cameron Reed, one of the city's best shooters and wing scorers, announced Saturday morning that he has committed to the University of New Orleans while on a visit there.

"It was just the people, the city, the support from everybody that's going to be there," Reed said. "The coaches are great to be around. Basketball is business, and I like that."

The 6-foot-5 Reed, who averaged 14.8 points last season and was a second-team All-Seventh Region selection, received his first scholarship offer from New Orleans in late June. The Privateers' coaches, who considered him their top target at his position, continued to follow him last month while he played for the Louisville Magic club.

He also had an offer from Austin Peay and recruiting interest from Wright State.

Reed was able to play pick-up games during his visit, and the folks in the program were impressed.

"They said you don't play selfishly and you take smart shots," Reed said.

Another positive aspect of picking New Orleans? The food in the Big Easy.

He ate oysters, crawfish, catfish and a couple po' boys during his expense-paid visit. Even the food in the campus cafeteria was excellent.

"It was amazing, some of the best food I've ever had," he said.

Reed is the second Louisville basketball player to commit to an NCAA Division I school in two days, following Manual's Dwayne Sutton, who pledged to North Carolina-Asheville. Both players can sign with their colleges in November.

Heavy on guards. They all look good. Love the article on Reed from the Louisville paper.

Hope we have some big men in the works too.
