We partially incorrectly identified Pensacola Christian as a D2 school on the podcast. They are, but they are NCCAA D2. Which I wasn't totally aware there was an NCCAA and certainly wasn't aware they had divisions. Also, PCC is 0-5. This should not even be the slight nuisance we thought it might be. But it will be good to see the new guys in action. The Saints stink, the Pelicans just butchered a 16-point lead in Portland, but no matter! The real season starts tonight. Go Privateers. |

Well they did what they should do to a D2 team so that's good. GOTTA work on ft's. I haven't seen the stats yet but I'd be very surprised if they made 50%, even 45% at one point. I like the kid from Nederland TX...hustles, rebounds, not afraid to go to the basket......not the best hands but, he's only a FT. Coach tried out a lot of lineups so that's what these games are for. Can they do better than last years record? We'll see |

I think that stretch where someone hit 3 of 4 ft's put them over 50% ![]() Seriously, this was a big weakness last year. I may be wrong but I think there was a game or two that had they made half of their MISSED ft's, they'd have won. Even the guards had a rough time tonite. I just hope the fact that they won'going away won't make them take this lightly....it's been a bugaboo for the last 2 years that I've watched Schless's teams. |

Think that the team as it looked tonight wins about the same amount as last season give or take a win... but there is a lot of promise for improvement, I thought. Very young team. I was encouraged by the game from a micro perspective. Saw a lot of little things I liked and things that made me think we have another good crop of recruits. Travin Thibodeaux being one example of so-so numbers but I liked what I saw. From a macro perspective it was a pretty sloppy win over a bad team. I will give Pensacola Christian this, they at least look like a basketball team and have a couple of guys that can make shots if you leave them open, which is better than a lot of the rent-a-wins we bring in. But still just fodder. I hate to keep harping on assist:turnover ratio but I hate seeing the Privateers at below 1:1 against a NCCAA Division II team, whatever that is. I don't understand how Nate Frye only had 1 assist, though. |

Pensacola had a couple of easy backdoor layups. If we don't clean that up the SFA game will get ugly real quick. |

The new players looked OK. Kevin Brown looks like a player. We'll get a better idea of where we stand after tomorrow night's game. It did feel good to be back in Lakefront Area, and I was particularly pleased with the student turnout. I hope it continues. |
