I see the story on PI and it mentions the big paycheck........I wasn't able to listen or watch tonite but I have to wonder, how big was that check? I hope it paid for all the black and blue bruises they took tonite because the score sure looked brutal.

At least I doubt if there's any team in the Southland that's as good as Northwestern.

I highly doubt there are. If you look at the Southland tally on the right side of the main PI page, it shows that pretty much all the teams right now are pretty average.

This may actually work in our favor.....we may not be as outclassed as we were the last 2 years against teams like SFA and SHSU.

Northwestern totally shut down Christavius Gill. He was held to 3 points. Cameron Reed had a nice game with 13 points on 4 for 5 shooting. If he can get open, I think that Cameron will be a valuable addition to the team. He seems to be a pure shooter, something we haven't seen much of in recent seasons. My definition of a pure shooter is someone who can make the shot if they're open.

Reed was more aggressive than usual at the end of this game. He was taking, and making, contested jumpers. At 6'5 he has the length to do this consistently. I hope that aggression will be encouraged because he has the ability to put up points quickly.
I'd love to see lineups with Gill and Reed flanking Frye on the wings. A lineup of Frye-Gill-Reed-Thomas-Zeno would be really nice offensively.
My only concern with Gill is that when he drives the lane, unless he draws a foul it is almost always a lost possession. He rarely gets a clean look at the basket because of his size and ends up throwing up a garbage shot. He needs to start kicking out more in order for the defense to have to guess more when he drives.

I agree with you two on Reed. It was instantly noticeable at the first home game that he was the closest thing to a pure shooter this team has seen for a while. And for a FR, he seemed to have some confidence to do so. If he puts on some weight and continues to get the green light, he can be a difference maker.

Then we have to work on inside offense and some get some FT games in the 75% range and things will be happening on the lakefront.

I am concerned about our rebounding. We max out at 6'8". Last night we were out rebounded 40-24. Of course, I remember a team which maxed out at 6'3" and won.
