A preview from their side http://www.masslive.com/umassbasketball/in...art_river_index UMass wins if... ... its defense keeps Gill from getting hot and plays, overall, up to the level its shown itself to be capable of. Even performances like the ones the Minutemen had during its previous two losses should be enough to beat a team like New Orleans. This is a game UMass should win. OUCH! UMass loses if... ... its veteran backcourt has another game in which it shoots a collective 25 percent and Gill does his best Stefan Moody impersonation. It's still hard for UMass to overcome nights like that, even against below-average teams. |

My "other college," Howard, had a 9-point halftime lead on the road against UMass and extended it to 14 in second half before falling to a UMass comeback and losing by 6. http://www.hubison.com/news/2015/11/14/MBB_1114153708.aspx Howard is good this year (beat William & Mary at home in an amazing comeback; broke North Carolina Central's 38-game (!) home winning streak; coasted to an easy 19-point win over Central Arkansas (it was 16 at the half); lost in 2OT to a decent Radford team who has beaten Georgetown and Penn State on the road). Anyway, good luck to the Privateers tonight. I'm guessing UMass is more than we can handle, but I hope I'm wrong. We'll be in Louisiana for a bit over the holidays and hope to be able to make it down for the game against Blue Mountain. |

I'm finally able to get some pretty low quality video feed of the 2nd half (while listening to Jude). Guys seem to be playing hard again tonite. UMass seems pretty quick but we're getting a few rebounds and got them to foul us a bit. A few little things seem to be bugging us like not being aware who's behind when we get a rebound and fighting over a rebound and kicking it out of bounds but these seem to be errors of hustle more than stupidity. Still missing some close up layups that just seem to be this teams kryptonite but I'll settle for hustle more than not. Cut an 11 pt lead down to 3 at one point. |

I like what I'm watching overall. Getting to the basket and took the lead at one point. however it seems that Umass's quickness to the basket on their offensive possessions is getting us in foul trouble. Might be getting a tad bit of benefit of 1 or 2 home calls. |

Had a 3 pt lead for a few mins but started fouling and took some unnecessarily bad shots and suffered for it. Then missed a few more point blank layups....and well.......2 more shots at the basket to win it and........it's OT. Had a chance. No excuses now going to OT in a bit of Foul trouble. |

Well, we're taking UMass to overtime tied 81-81. A hell of an effort! |

And Erik Thomas fouls out. His last 2 fouls were, as Jude said, SILLY. Refs starting to call lots of calls now, on both sides....but UMASS has been to the line TWICE as much as us and that's really one of the bigger differences in this game. |

Well, this was likely our best game of the season so far, even tho it's a very tough tough loss but they left it out there. Can't fault the effort tonite....just not as quick tonite as UMASS and still making a few critical mistakes at the wrong times. A better pass here or a more make-able shot there and we're talking about another big win. And when they watch the film and see the end of regulation, they may not sleep. And to think we shot around 90% at the FT line at one point in OT!!!!! I don't remember a Schless coached team doing that well when shooting over 15 ft's. But as I said, can't fault the effort. If they can grow on this, then there's a chance in the Southland. PS. The game was closer than the score shows. |

It should at least help their confidence. I didn't expect a close game. |
