Wow what an awfully FUGLY game. I set my record for use of the F word at one single sporting event (and remember, I'm a SINCE DAY ONE Saints fan) :D

Seriously, it amazes and angers me at just how awful this team (actually, BOTH were tonite) is. 2 constants are: stupid, lazy, lackadaisical, TELEGRAPHED PASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and just absolute imbecilic decision making on passes, putting the ball on the ground under the basket and shot selection. Its MUCH worse by our jrs and srs. At least Thibodeaux knows what to do with the ball under the basket when he gets it.

Kevin just SHOULD NOT DRIBBLE THE BALL...E.V.E.R. and Nate is NOT a PG. Not in any league on any team. He has no awareness of who's around him, behind him etc and he just cannot pass the ball. He actually was better last year. And layups....my heavens, some of them were point blank misses, AGAIN!

I'm sorry to be so negative with a win but we are an pitifully bad team that has actually gotten worse in many of the key aspects of basketball. And there are no excuses. Again, FT shooting in the 50% range. That's pathetic.

Just a question: Why, with Frye and Gill on the floor does Kevin shoot ft's? Is his percentage the best of the three?

Gill's FT percentage this year is more than 10% better than Hill, though Hill is slightly better than Frye.

Not a great performance, but a sufficiently gritty one. Hope to see another win on Monday.

The trait of Schless's teams have been never to quit........which fortunately helps overcome some of the bad things we've seen........it really helps when playing bad teams too.

There were a few nice things to be found in the box score including 19 assists on 30 buckets and over 56% shooting in the second half (after 34% in the first).

Would a 3-3 home stand be considered success? Given some of the teams played this go round?
(i'm excluding the one away game during this stretch at TAMUCC)

Of course i'm going WAY over the line by assuming a win tomorrow night but I'm just curious as to your thoughts.

No, but it beats the hell out of 2-4. In retrospect, 4-2 would have been pretty nice given how good Houston Baptist's turned out to be, but we needed to at least split between them and Incarnate Word.

I thought we did okay in the McNeese game, not our best performance but we did some things well. I thought the game included some of our best and worst passing efforts. More bad turnovers than usual but also more successful passes than usual (reflected in the assist total).

Nicholls is the weakest of the three teams on this homestand, I think, so we better not lose to them at home (and I'll be disappointed if this isn't the year we finally break through at Stopher). However, we're definitely not good enough to just show up and win either.

The only good passing I saw was the 3 way down the court for a slam late in the game :(

Originally I wasn't going to be able to make the Nicholls game but now it looks more likely that its possible. Would certainly like to see a boring win from start to finish for a change.

My impressions from Saturday night was that UNO was more athletic than McNeese but has not learned to ''value each possession" (my favorite Floydism). I loved the effort and the enthusiasm and a few of these freshman make me hopeful for the future. That being said my excitement over what was a hustling and high flying Travin Thibodeaux was severely dampened when he made that insanely dangerous behind the back bounce pass under his own goal late in the game. That could have easily been a disaster and I hope he runs some bleachers to remind him those types of plays could and have cost teams games. However, his energy Saturday night was worth the trip to the arena and I must admit I had fun. Nice enthusiasm in the building and considering UNO was up against Mardi Gras and the Pelicans an overall good turnout.

I think Thibodeaux is one of the FEW who have improved since last year. He's fairly clumsy but his physical prowess under the basket many times pays off. Again, I see growth in him.

Wish I could say the same about Nate. Last year he seemed much more in control, confident and promise. Just don't see that this year. He and others don't seem to have any peripheral vision when dribbling or passing. Either that or they just don't care. TOO many times they look at who they're going to way too long and then try to force a bounce pass that more times than not gets stolen or knocked away. Then when a few go thru, I get excited as if it's an awesome display. :(

Kevin is up and down. Still he should NOT EVER dribble the ball. Ever. But I LOVE when he's on the bench into a game and routing on his mates. That's what a SR should do.

I also like the young guys that do seem to have an upside. Reed isn't ever afraid to put up a shot and actually can disrupt shots....just needs to put some weight on.
There is some promise but they need to show growth at this point in the season.
