Conference play. Are we prepared? Were the away money games and the home HS games the right mix to prepare a mostly new team? Do we know the 8 or 9 coach will mostly go with? Are we healthy? Can we compete? I know nothing about AC other than they have an 8-5 pre conf record......which basically means nothing. Tomorrow night is when it counts. |

They've had some decent wins. Won road games at Campbell and Air Force, beat Bowling Green at a neutral site, beat Texas State at home. Nobody eye popping, but seem like a decent respectable team that should at least make the Southland tournament and have a shot at a bye. If we're going to be in the mix they're a team we need to beat at home, and if they're going to get a bye we're probably a great candidate for a road conference win for them. |

I'm excited to get to see the Privateers and several of you tonight. This will likely my only in-person viewing this season, unfortunately. |

In House FM thing should be working tonight if anyone wants to bring an actual radio (not a phone). 92.7 FM to hear Jude Young's take on Southland officiating.

Thanks very much, sir. That's nice. I tried it last game and it worked for most of the game. A lil off and on 2nd half but I enjoyed it. BTW, I don't recall seeing anything in the Advocate today about the game but I would hope maybe one of the local tv stations could give us a 5 second mention. |

I swung by Wayward Owl and picked up a case of Privateer Pale Ale. Now getting a Chamber at Koz's. On to Lakefront Arena next. Nice to be back, even if for a short time. |

UNO wins 77-74. I hated to miss it, but family duties called. Nice to start off the conference schedule with a win. |

I think we beat a pretty decent team......might be slightly ahead of us but foul trouble and our almost steady defense won it. Down 11 early and then 10 late first half, made a run to keep it to 2. Then basically took over the 2nd half. But there were still some things that are haunting us.......the usual bad passes etc. BUT....coach seems to find a way to adjust and the defense keeps us close. We still can't guard the 3pt shot. its pretty evident. But AC does pass the ball well and they are harder to defend the 3 than some other teams we've let shoot it. I also thought we got the benefit of some calls in the first half. Not bad calls, just some you don't see called that tight but they were consistent. We got to the line A LOT in the first half. The 2nd half seemed to be just a lot of whistles overall. Pou had a few mins there where he was unstoppable but then we stopped going to him and their D got wise. Green is a kid that really is amazing for a FR. He's a really decent shooter (should shoot more) and he can hit ft's and drive the lane. There were a few things we really need to clean up but, for a young team, early in the season and against an equal or better team, this was a great start and a HOME CONFERENCE WIN, which is what's needed. Some scores of notice: Nicholls KILLED NWST and SLU upset SFA. |

Abilene seemed to be a consensus Top 4 team of late according to KenPom/PowerRankings so a I would say this is a pretty good win. Big night for Thib who seems to have really developed. SFA loss is huge after the hype they have been receiving. |

UNO attempted 47 FT's and made 33 of them. If we had shot better at the line this game wouldn't have been so close. We had some flashes of good ball movement and then we had a few dudes on offense. I guess being a young team we can expect that more often than not. Overall I liked what I saw. Gutsy, determined, and a lot of hustle on the floor. |

For a game with 72 free throws it was a pretty entertaining game. 33-47 for UNO is 70% -- that's about the national average or even a tick above it. Southland refs, y'all! Just in case you forgot. They enjoy the touch fouls, and they fall for EVERY. SINGLE. FLOP. Whew. With a road game Saturday and Lamar coming in next Wednesday, let's just say I'm thankful we collected ourselves and had a great last 20 seconds. Because melting down from 8 up with 2 minutes left to losing your opener at home could've theoretically been a very gut-wrenching start on the way to 0-3. As bunched up as I expect the league standings to be this season after SFA (still), you can't lose a game that you had completely in hand with 2 minutes left. Puou was pretty quiet during the non-conference season but was vital in the second half tonight. Huge presence. |

I was thinking the same thing last night, steve. 2:30 to go and up by 8 all we had to do is hold the ball, take good shots or get fouled and play the same good defense. But we don't move on offense and then let Travin take a 3 But it ended well so, hopefully its a lesson learned. Would you think we could/should beat HBU and then lose at home to Lamar? Just curious as it seems Lamar is a pretty decent team right now. |

I think we are slight underdogs in each of the next two games. We may be a shade better than HBU but it's on the road. I think Lamar is somewhat better than us but we're at home. Of course almost all games in conference are going to be like this -- pretty close to even on paper. |
