Didn't UNO win both the regular season and Tournament championships? The advocate today in a short article about SFU said they won it the last 5 years in a row. |

The Advocate is wrong! UNO won both championships last season, Southland Conference regular season and tournament. |

Since the Advocate isn't aware that UNO exists, I'm not surprised that they don't know that we won the Southland last year. Of course a casual visitor wouldn't know we won the Southland by looking at the lack of a banner hanging in Lakefront Arena. |

No banner, but at both men and women games they are doing something new: After they introduce the visiting team and before they introduce our team, Ro Brown announces please look at the scoreboard screen. They then show some basketball action video, while playing some thankfully incomprehensible rap music. Not sure what the video is, but for Saturday's women's game it definitely included footage from our loss to Tulane. After an uncomfortable time, they introduce our team. It's a bit strange for the visiting team. They clap at the end of the national anthem, then they applaud Sless's kids if its a men's game, then awkward silence during the video. |

Haven't seen the women's video but I think the men's video is pretty well done. I like it because it has a lot of footage from the NCAA Tournament game, so highlights with a lot of people in the stands and also IT'S A MODERN UNO NCAA TOURNAMENT GAME! It doesn't really work great in the arena though because the video boards are tucked away in the end zones. You kind of need an overhead (and a crowd) for the full effect, but regardless, I like the idea. We do need the damn banners up though. |
