Excellent Graphics. No mention of the opponent name or the "live band" name. |

Just got an email from the Alumni Association about the game on the 20th. Did any of you get it as well? Sort of doing a quick poll on my own. GO PRIVATEERS!!!! |

I got it. Hope the promo works. It would be great to see a solid crowd in Lakefront Arena. If you and the alumni association are responsible for the flyer, here's just a minor critique: I would have liked to see a couple things clarified on the flyer: The opponent - I think we play Incarnate Word. The order of the games - Men play first, right? The name of the band. Now...none of that really matters to folks here who are season ticket holders. But a casual alum, who we are trying to get to come to the game is probably asking those questions. Why not answer them? Maybe the reaction is "well, it shouldn't matter who we play or who plays first or who the band is!" And in a perfect world it shouldn't. But it does. |

Have to add that on closer look it does direct you to the athletics website for more event information...which is where they would find the opponent, game times and ticket information. So all in all it's not bad. |

I got it. Thought it said the men were playing second but that's different from the original schedule. I DO NOT LIKE the 415 starts. Just don't. Will do my best to make as many as I can but its tough. |

It also is missing the ending time for the tailgate. Does it end when the women's game starts at 4 pm? So then it would be a 30 min tailgate? Or does it last until the men's game starts? Minor critique but tailgate from 3:30 till xxx time would be nice. Now I'll have to call and find out. |

That is a good question. Does the tailgate extend until the men's game? I was thinking the men started at 4:15, but looking at the website, the women's game is first and then the men. |

The flyer was generated by athletics. Alumni is and has been a supporter of athletics. I too would love to see a crowd at the game. Having said that here are my two issue with the Athletic department. 1) Saturday game time sucks. 2) Being a season ticket holder without a reserved seat or section sucks. If there are 2000 people at the game, and I hope that there are, then the most loyal supporters are going to be stuck with either going to the tailgate or getting to the game really early to secure a seat. The general admission season ticket has no value other than loyalty to the program. Plain and simple. In fact from a financial standpoint it is better to purchase tickets as you go. Again that is my opinion and having been a long time season ticket holder I am not happy with either of the 2 issues above. |

I don't disagree with you. You know from our conversations that I've been pretty well disillusioned with UNO athletics since the reclassification debacle. Not with staying D-1. But staying D-1 and absolutely blowing the golden opportunity to start fresh and form a true Southland Conference-style athletics department from the ground up. Instead they just reinstated the same old failed "D-1 on a shoestring with no football" formula. But I digress. The Saturday game time for this particular pack the house game isn't bad...men play at 6:30 (or following the women's game). And while they will ultimately have to go back to reserved seating as crowds get bigger and bigger ( ), the truth is that right now, even if 2,000 show up on that Saturday, you'll still be able to get a pretty damn great seat even if you are the last fan out of the tailgate and into the arena.

I agree we will have a good seat, but many of us like to sit together, you know like we all did many, many years ago. Some may not attend a tailgate, others might. It was nice knowing that your seat was waiting for you if you had to come from work, a meeting, a family event, etc. Unless you are on the floor you don't have that option, yet you are putting you money out front to support the team. It is fun to be with people you know, who have been to the games supporting the team over the years and not having to worry about the visiting team's fans, or others sitting in the best seats in the house. Sometimes there are seats blocked off for group sales when they only attend one game in the season. Sort of frustrating that they can't do the same for 1 section in the arena. Not a designated seat but a section for people who buy a "General Admission" season ticket. And your point about the reboot of DI athletics at UNO is well taken. I feel the same. UNO missed a golden opportunity. I guess part of the frustration was the promise of money from so many if UNO remained DI and that didn't happen. I am not sure why but somehow someone didn't hold up their end of the deal. I really believe in Dr. Nicklow and hope that he will start a real study of athletics, finding a way to fund it properly and continuing to grow the University in all areas. |

I agree with the Southland football dream. At least do like SLU did when they reinstated it. Begin a five year countdown, with fundraising, etc. I'm sure by the end of year 3 we would know if it can work. Regarding the general admission tickets, I was told it cost too much to hire ushers for our small crowd to make the reserved seating worthwhile. In fact, for volleyball they decided it was cheaper to let the crowd in for free than to charge and hire ticket takers. |

I want football at UNO. Slidell was my mentor for that years ago.....and convinced me that it was what is needed for UNO to move forward. I really believe we need to know what the cost are before we start any countdown clock. That should be part of the plan with a study on what it will take including where we play if we don't have an on site stadium, what the initial start up cost are, what the future cost will be, the anticipated revenues (would be better on campus for parking fees and concession, especially at the UNO Athletic complex off Franklin....sounds better than the "east campus"), community support, business support and student support. Once all of that is put on paper we can determine if we can indeed make it happen. My gut tells me we can. But I don't want to commit to something that isn't going to work for a host of reasons. I am a supporter of DI athletics and told many that during the Ryan issue so long as we were properly funded. That was a discussion we had with Dr. Fos and others. Apparently it still isn't if it has one of the lowest budgets in DI. If we can't afford radio, advertising, an usher for season ticket holders, banners, etc. are we at the cusp of falling back into oblivion? I don't know how all of the other Southland schools in Louisiana do it and yet UNO can't. One more thing.....I hope we have 2000 people at the game. I really do. I remember when we had 2500 on a fairly regular basis and thought it was terrible. If we have 1000 people at the game that would be a big victory in my opinion. |
