This is one of those, WE SHOULD WIN Games, no? I just saw this: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is struggling after losing Southland Preseason All-First Team selection Ehab Amin to a season-ending injury prior to the start of the 2017-18 campaign. That's a huge loss for them. We need to make sure we don't take them lightly. These next 3 are must win games imo. |

Well, that was something. Played some of the best defense I've seen from a Schlesinger team in the first 5 mins but couldn't score. Had an 11 pt lead and then just seemed to stop. The first half from both teams offensively was, well....offensive. both shot in the 20% range. also shot 50% from the line in the first half. Felt like it should've been a 15-20 pt lead. TAMU is a VERY WELL coached team. VERY good defense and HUSTLE to get rebounds. We looked lazy underneath for a good part of the game. I thought their defensive game plan was perfect for us. And early in the first half I mentioned to my wife that I noticed this year that Pou is starting to get very "Travin" like.....too aggressive and would get called for a t and sure enough, he did. at a stupid time and for nothing other than being too immature and getting baited by the other team. They see this on film and sure enough, goad him into it. I'm very happy that coach sat him the rest of the game. I love the kid but he needs to mature on the court. Otherwise, it was a win that we should've gotten at home against a team that is struggling but should be proud of their effort. On another subject that has been brought up before........is there ANY FRIGGIN REASON why we have a woman's game at 2 and the men's at 430? Could this not have been a 4 and 630 or 7 game? WHY is this necessary? |

We don't draw enough right now for the times to really matter. I try to make every game but today I was able to bring my wife a young child. With a 6:30 or 7:00 start, they both would have stayed home. It was a great day today with my family at the arena. So, selfishly, I am happy with the early start. Again, I don't think it really matters right now. Actually looking at the box score from today it was one of, if not the highest attended game of the year. |

Well I agree with you on the draw...but the 'regulars' that I sit with don't show up on 415's either so I guess its a draw. But on that.....what does UNO and/or the Southland think that's good about 415? |

I don't know. Maybe because we draw more fans??? I just looked it up and we drew more fans today than we have all year. |

Maybe because UNO is winning? I seriously doubt the time helped much but if it did, more power to them (tho I really have a tough time giving UNO or the Southland ANY credit for scheduling/timing of games. I suspect a much better crowd next week. and if we keep winning, shame on the students for NOT showing up.......do we have any students now anyway? |

Thanks, that's important. I flunk at spelling, Shoot me, won't you. but forget about the subject matter. Let's just grade spelling test. I;m almost 60 and for ALL OF MY DAMNED MISERABLE LIFE, no one could spell my name...but I still GOT AND PAID my bills, still showed up and still signed my checks the same way. Do you have a life? |

But the banners don't match the others that are already up! How hard would it have been to at least match the colors of the old banners ??? |

I get that they're really going balls to the wall for the Jan. 20 game, and it's a good game to target with it being the first Saturday after school goes back into session, but does anybody think it's strange how much they're ignoring the home games that come before it? I mean, it was a P.A. announcement: "The Privateers return to Lakefront Arena on January 20 against Incarnate Word..." They do kinda have a pretty big home game Wednesday night against the league's leading scorer first. It's one thing to promo the Jan 20 game on the home page, it's another to make announcements that really do make it sound like that's the next home game. Just weird. As for the game, gawd, we were bad, missed a lot of shots (and free throws) that we normally make. Got outrebounded. Just were really out of sorts, but TAMU-CC is terrible. I'm not worried about it unless the issues resurface. We're lucky Berzat bailed us out with a huge shooting performance to cover some of the ground lost by Bryson Robinson, who's 4-for-21 since the huge game at McNeese. I know he hasn't been shooting well but I thought it was strange he got benched for just about the whole second half. Ultimately, Travin Thibodeaux made huge plays at the end when we needed him to, and we got away with this one. Letdowns are real. Southeastern paid for theirs because McNeese, while not very good, is better than the Islanders. |

Sounds like SLU, like UNO,took their opponent lightly today. Re: Berzat.......much like our old friend Gill, Berzat should shoot more. |

The texts on the banners is the real issue. It's the "UNO Font" and looks horrible. Also doesn't help that the text itself has no outline or dropshadow, so it doesn't pop out and looks rather flat. |

I really don't mind them using the new logo and font. I get that - although having all banners with the same font would be ideal. Having said that, at least put the new font in the same colors as the old banners. |

Who knows......you would think that we would try to be consistent but I didn't even notice them. As far as the 4:15 games on Saturday. I don't like them because we have commitments already for that time slot. Having been a season ticket holder and game attendee for a long time it bothers me. We tried 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.; 7:30 p.m. to no avail. But if the department really cared they would have asked their existing season ticket holders. But they didn't. The common answer was that it was to bring out Dad's clubs, schools, etc. I haven't seen one yet at a game. So the grade I give the department is a D-......only because we have a few more games. If I read the tea leaves the game on the 20th is a way to push the attendance up for the season. Maybe it will work / maybe it won't but if you don't have funds to do it every game it is not sustainable. As far as the game today. I will take win. Sometime better teams don't play well. Sless's (Since I can't spell either.....and I am older than Red....) teams have a tendency to start of slow and then play catch up. Sometimes we do and sometimes we don't. Today we swapped the plan. We played well to start and then sort of just let TAMU take control under the basket. FT shooting didn't help. |

The push for the game on the 20th is because it's a TV game. Again, we don't draw enough to worry about making the regulars mad about starting times. This thread proves that a few regulars don't like the early starting time BUT we had the best attendance of the year. Let's get another win Wednesday. Hopefully with the students being back we can draw a few more folks!!! |

Best attendance of the year but still less than a few games last year with 6:15 start times. Of course, we're picking nits. Attendance is lousy regardless of when they tip. I felt like 6:15 was a good balance... late enough where the kids' daytime activities don't run into it, but early enough where they don't get to bed too late. 4:15 is definitely pushing it on the former (and why I missed the ladies' first half today), although everyone's individual circumstances differ. |

I agree. 6:15 is a much better time for me and many others. The early game isn't "New Orleans" friendly in my opinion. So we have a few more home games. One is the first week end of Mardi Gras. UNO doesn't choose the day but someone should be talking to the league about it......Or move the game to the Friday night. With major parades in the City and Metairie on that week end it will be a ghost town in the arena.....which isn't far from where it is now. The week after Mardi Gras is the homecoming game. Hopefully the students will attend but that game. They usually do. |

On today's game, a win! The banners are fine, really we have bigger problems than those banners. The department acting like we don't have a home game Wednesday ? STUPID! |
