Privateers weren't amazing tonight but got the job done and shot brilliantly from deep (9-for-17). Took care of business and knocked off the Demons on the road, 73-67. Record is now 7-2 heading to Incarnate Word for a rematch on Saturday afternoon. Berzat was injured in the second half, not sure how serious. Robinson was brilliant off the bench with 17 to lead the way. Looks like the ladies are on their way to winning their fourth in a row. |

Sless says Berzat's injury is not serious, could've gone back in but team was in a groove. |

Nicholls won at Lamar, but both SLU and SF Austin lost. So, UNO is in second place at 7-2. SLU, SF Austin and Sam Houston State are close behind. Saturday games include SLU at Nicholls and Sam Houston State at SF Austin, in addition to UNO's game at Incarnate Word. Edited by Unofan, Jan 24 2018, 09:39 PM.

I could only follow via phone updates but it looks like we were mostly up a few shots all game and just kept it close. While I might think that other teams CREAMED NSW at their place, the fact that we won on the road is just a good thing when its a team we SHOULD HAVE BEAT. So KUDOS to coach and the guys for doing what should have been done. We need every one of these. As for the rest of the conference.......not surprised that UCA won nor SHSU but I really had hoped that NSU would have lost. They and UCA are surprising me. And what's with UCA that they get beaten by everyone and we suffer at home? IS it just we don't match up with big guys are we took them lightly? That game on Sat is a big one. And I'm not really all that confident how we'll do at SLU and NSU, home or road. I don't want EITHER OF THEM to do well, anytime, anywhere. They are both my "in the old days hate everything ULL...." deal. Congrats to both the men and women tonite. Really happy about both, wish I had seen the game. |

Just caught up with the stats and a few Southland conference website articles of most of the games. Seems we struggled a bit against a bad team but kept it together. SFA had a rough time with UCA's 3 pt shooting for their first loss EVER against them. And NSU just seems to maybe have the best team in the conf to date. They really seem to play well on both sides of the ball. Wouldn't be surprised to see any of about 6 teams win the conf and/or tournament. Probably about as evenly matched as has been in a long time, even last year. I'm kinda hoping we can at least get an NIT this year if we can't find a way to RE peat. |

An NIT bid would be great, but unless we get red hot and win most of our remaining games, I just don't see it. We're 10-10 now, with our most impressive wins coming against probably Lamar and Abilene Christian. I do like your enthusiasm though.

The only way this team goes to the NIt is winning the regular season title. There are other tournaments that they may qualify for depending on their record. |

Besides the NCAA and NIT postseason basketball tournaments, there are also the CBI (College Basketball Invitational) tournament and CIT (CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament). Here's the rub. From what I've read about these tournaments, both charge a hefty fee to participate. In fact, some schools decline the "invitation", since they won't be able to recoup their money. The CBI invites any team which wasn't selected for the NCAA or NIT tournaments, whereas the CIT is geared towards smaller and mid-major schools which weren't selected. From what I read, the CBI charges a $50,000 entry fee to participate, and the CIT charges approximately $40,000 to host a game, with additional costs for each subsequent game (from a 2014 article: $35,000 for a first-round matchup, $50,000 for a quarterfinal, and $75,000 for each semifinal and finals game). So, I believe that UNO would probably decline the CBI or CIT invitations if given, unless reduno funds it. Edited by Unofan, Jan 26 2018, 08:50 AM.

They can have the $16 that's currently in my wallet. But after that, I'm tapped. |

If you have to pay a fee to get into a post season tournament you should stay home and recruit. Teams like Tulane pay that fee and claim to have played in the post season. BS! |

In Tulane and others' defense, there are still eligibility requirements to get an invitation to participate in these tournaments, but you do pay to play. I'm with you. Stay home and spend the time and money on recruiting. Edited by Unofan, Jan 26 2018, 11:40 AM.

Let's just win the conf and get an automatic NIT or win the Tourny and go BACK to the NCAA's.

If we shoot more, I'd bet we'd miss more. We turn the ball over too much (though we've been better lately) but we generally take really good shots. It's the best thing about our offensive switch the last couple seasons. |

Based on the lack of good shooters from distance the last few years, I'd normally agree but when we have a player that's hitting close to or over 50%, I'd say, give him more chances. Charles can shoot well, Berzat's not too bad either and on a good night, Robinson can nail a few. I'm not saying take 15 a night but earlier in the year, there were games we only shot it 3 times past the line. If it helps open up the inside so that we can actually make a clean pass without going over the top and getting it stolen, I'd say, take a few more. |
