http://www.nsudemons.com/news/2018/1/30/demon-basketball-mcconathy-sees-encouraging-signs-as-demons-start-2nd-half-of-slc-race-at-uno.aspx It sure seemed that Lane was a force inside. Maybe that made Pou decide to get back to form? This is another 'must win' home game against a team that we should beat. SHOULD......... I hope the same vocal crowd shows up again this week. |

I will take that, although asking any program to win back to back titles (SLC Tournament) is a lot. One thing for sure, tonight's game is a must and even though it is hard for us to realize. We are now the hunted and we get EVERYONE'S best game now. Looking forward to being back in the arena tonight. |

This is really the type of score we should have against this year's NWST team. They are reeling and missing their best player but they really don't quit. I REALLY like Lane for them. The guy is not overly athletic but he knows where he is on the court, has great boxing out skills, rebounds well and is a decent shooter. Without him tonite, we win by 30 or more. As it was, it seemed the first half we could've shut the door then but neither team wanted to shoot ft's. Also both teams passing was crappier than an airport rest room. And as Steve's article said, the easy part is over. It gets MUCH tougher now. 7 games left I think and 4 against NSU and SLU. Still, GOTTA WIN AT HOME. If we play as sloppy Sat as we did tonite, its an L. Really happy that Pou seems to be out of his funk but it seems that Zeno has taken his place. Tonite he couldn't get a layup if he had a ladder. REALLY struggling. But he did play a little defense . Travin was his usual good self all Riek has to do is stand under the basket and make shooters move 5 feet since his presence makes them adjust their shots. Glad he and a few others got some mopping up time. Also, Green looks like he did earlier in the season. Under the basket he's really got good instincts. Gotta clean it up and take advantage of being home on Sat. And SLU lost at home tonite to TAMUCC so that's a big loss for them. Too bad the ladies lost against a poor team but that's the road sometimes. |

Plus at Sam Houston, plus at an apparently now-decent TAMU-CC. Only absolutely should-win left is McNeese at home but that isn't automatic by any means either. Time to pay the piper for the easy early schedule. But we were lucky on the schedule front -- this team in particular really could've used the softer games up front, given how young they are. So now you're 9-2 and brimming with confidence heading into the tough stretch run. So, we shall see. I don't love Nicholls with a week off and coming off a big loss. |

Yep, the toughest is coming up. Tho I never thought we'd be 4-1 on the road to start the season either. If I remember correctly, the TAMUCC game was close at home so you know they're feeling confident too (tho it seems they own SLU for some reason). Gotta hope other teams beat up on each other to help us out. I'm still really curious to see how UCA does and I ain't betting that SFA won't come out on top. But none of us thought we'd be ahead of last years pace at this point.......if you say so, you're lying And I don't think they've played their best ball yet......still some tinkering with the lineup. I like that we have a deeper bench than last year. |
