A game of 2 halves...the first, pretty sloppy, the second full of runs. Not sure what happened but NONE of the first half 3 ptrs UNO let happen were really close to being guarded. 4 were wide open with guys pointing fingers trying to direct defense with no one paying attention. But they seem to have gotten that worked out in the 2nd half, fortunately. Pou was awesome tonite. Zeno, well, gotta call it as I see it...he sucked. The man just is having a crappy, awful year in his last one here. Its sad to see. When Robinson is on, he's a game changer. Fortunately they seemed to have some set plays to start the 2nd half because that little spurt basically won the game. The first 5 mins of both halves are big. Not sure what was up with Charles as he saw zero minutes. Maybe he's hurt? Still concerned with so many missed layups...lots of shots blocked underneath but we also had a few as payback. But its looking like teams can go right to the basket very quickly and score. Also glad to see we locked up a tournament spot. Hope we can get in the 1-4 range but that might be tough to do. Was hoping UCA would beat NSU but it looks very likely NSU will win the 1st spot. And as I type this, HBU is beating SHSU but lots of time left. I think we'll need some help since the next 3 games will be hard to win. |

Advocate is showing that 1571 people were at the game yesterday, likely the biggest crowd of the year. Hope they keep coming. |

That does top the "Load the Lakefront" crowd by about 100 or so. For the most part, Load the Lakefront was a hell of a job by the department. Pick a Saturday soon after the beginning of spring semester *that isn't homecoming*, promote the hell out of it, get a nice crowd, then get another one for homecoming (even though it looked like a large chunk left yesterday after their Squealy McSquealerton halftime stuff). Next year add UL Lafayette and South Alabama to the home schedule and then do it again. |

Just looking at the standings and up coming schedules. I would say The Privateers are guaranteed a Top 5 Finish already. 2 wins in the last 3 probably means Top 3. Win out and you are 1st or 2nd. All the Top Team play each other this last 3. So a lot riding on it for everyone. |

I doubt we'll win out, could be only 1 win out of the 3 at worst I suppose. So, just to be clear, seeds 1 and 2 get double byes and 3 and 4 get one bye? Also, I forgot to mention this last night but I thought the refereeing in the first half last night was as bad as any the rest of this year (at least of the games I've seen in person) . It got no better in the 2nd half but I've never ever EVER seen a game live or on tv that had so many review timeouts....and even more so, for things that had no bearing. I saw 2 last night that required a review. The rest were just 3 guys who had no damned clue as to what they were doing. |

Yeah, I believe Zeno is now 21/78 from the field in conference play. That comes in below 30%. His minutes are beginning to reflect that number. I think the largest crowd of the season belongs to the home game against Nicholls. I think it was around 2100. Nice to have 3 games with 1500+ in conference play. |

Didn't realize we had that many for Nicholls. Too bad it was such a turd of a game, but that's pretty great that we got 2100 for a game that really wasn't super heavily promoted, I don't think. I think our coaching staff has by-and-large done a really nice job, especially of late, but I can't help but feel that they just couldn't get the most out of Zeno. There is absolutely a useful player in there somewhere, but he really needed a coaching staff with the heart to tell him that he can't shoot (or handle the ball). I don't know how many just-inside-the-arc jump shots he's taken in his career, but under Tim Floyd he would've taken zero -- or 1 immediately followed by an extraordinarily stern message that he'd be playing next season for Itawamba Community College if he so much as THOUGHT of taking another one. I don't think that's in Sless' DNA, though. |

Wow, the coaching difference between Floyd and Slessinger........too many to name. But we're blessed to have had both. I was thinking last night while I watched coach with the special kids, just how AWESOME of a human being he is and what he's teaching his players about life. Knowing they likely won't make the next step in basketball, that they have to have other things, traits etc. And this is so much about real life. I've said it before, while I may have some issues here and there with a few things he does or doesn't do relating to bball, as a man and human being, he's A++ material. We are blessed to have him. Frankly, he is THE MAIN reason I keep renewing my season tickets. |

Man I thought it was sitting the rest of us crazy fans that brought you back to the games.......But I agree with you about Sless being a teacher of men. What an example for his players to look back on years from now. The other thing I see with Sless and his staff is the ability to make half time adjustments with the team. Not sure of actual X and O's changes but mentally he must get it into their heads that they are better then they had been playing in the 1st half of a game. It is really hard to pin down but we just don't play a good first half, most of the time, yet we can really rally in the 2nd half to close the gap or actually pull away. I am going to go out on a limb here but I think we will win at least 2 of the next 3 games. It is crunch time and we really need to be focused from the tip off to the final buzzer. |
