So I wonder how this is going to play out? Do the violators get sanctioned? A lot of big name schools are mentioned in the report.

..."Schools identified by Yahoo! as having players who possibly violated NCAA rules include Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Southern California and Kansas. At least 25 players are linked to impermissible benefits, including Michigan State's Miles Bridges, Alabama's Collin Sexton and Duke's Wendell Carter."

It could have big time implications if these allegations are true.

GO PRIVATEERS!!!

Sadly, none of this surprises me.

I have to assume what will ultimately come out of this is players getting legally paid in some form.

The NCAA is not going to blast practically every one of its cash cow programs. More likely it will use the widespread nature of this to justify a policy change and more or less wipe everybody's slate clean and start over.

If not, UNO is back in the running for an at-large berth.

Do I detect some cynicism in your reply? However, you're probably right. The Power Five conferences will do some arm twisting, and all will be good.

However, when college athletes are paid for their services (legally), I think that I'll hang it up.

So there is a move afloat in the NCAA that would allow transfers without the player sitting the year. I don't like it but like you said the Power 5 are going to push for it. They will use schools like UNO to be their form of a "farm" team. Sort of sucks.

If they do that they should pay the school for the scholarship that was used. So they pluck the best players from other rosters and maybe drop a "problem" player from their lineup. So the small schools would need to recruit another player.

I can see NCAA basketball doing exactly what was done in Football and there will be even more "tiers" for the NCAA programs down the road. Div I might be with subsets of programs. The Power 5, the next 8 to 10 and then all the rest. Of course at the end of the day the money doesn't flow to the smaller schools. Again sort of sucks.

I'm losing faith in the system!

Follow the money, and money has been known to corrupt.
