UNO posted the games notes for the Nicholls game tomorrow night. The projected starting lineup does not include Thibodeaux, Berzat, Robinson or Charles. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. The game is on ESPN3 beginning at 6:32 pm.

Something's up that's not good.....ugly has to happen if our starters, esp THE player, doesn't play.

And to me, just based on life's experiences......if it's kept quiet again and again, then its likely something serious......and by keeping it quiet, shows the lack of preparation for handling problems. As I said earlier, bad news DOES NOT get better with age. Its starts to smell just like the BS it is.

Fortunately I have plans I can't get out of so I won't have to sit thru what might be a ball buster. Again, I'd LOVE some crow.

PS. Maybe these guys won't start but will play?

In the New Orleans Advocate this morning, the article on the Nicholls game tonight indicates that Thibodeaux, Berzat and Robinson were held out of the Sam Houston State game due to disciplinary reasons, which were being handled internally by the department. Their status for tonight's game remains unclear.

Just saw this minutes ago. FINALLY something has been said.

I'm ALL for handling this internally but WHY couldn't this very simple little phrase be said before or after the game on Wednesday? Nothing changed since then other than us being upset about it so why not just be open and say we're handling some disciplinary issues? Then, other than being upset that some young men did something stupid to jeopardize their teams chances at winning would be the only thing to be done.

We do not need, nor should we, be told what they did or how long....just that it happened. that's it.

I wouldn't doubt they could even play some tonite.

I also wonder how bad Charles's injury is.

Off thread but....it looks like UIW is going to have a mild upset at TAMU....first win of the year in conference.

Per coach Charles, Berzat and Robinson will play tonight. Thibodeau out indefinitely.

Thanks to the selfishness and immaturity of some of the players, UNO will now be tied with Lamar and have to play on day 1 of the tournament. Not that UNO was a lock for a bye OR winning the tournament, but now Thibodeaux will have to know that his last game as a JR was marred with being seen on tv strangling his own teammate and his Sr year closed out with disciplinary action.

Hope he learns his lesson. Its tough to be a young man these days but if his other teammates can follow the rules, so can he!

I very much enjoy watching us bring in Freshman who stay 4 years. LOVED seeing Gill play and grown. Remember VERY fondly the first game Ervin J played here....looked like a new born horse who could barely walk. But every year was improvement and growth. I saw much the same with Travin.....sadly, he couldn't follow the rules.

One of the announcers on the ESPN3 telecast spoke very highly of Troy Green. I'm looking forward to see Troy play over the next few years at UNO, as well as our other young players.

He's a guy my wife noticed right away as someone who's sort of like Nate Frye....who can drive the lane and make layups regularly and sometimes is good at the line. I think there are good things in store for him when he and Charles can play more next year.

Too bad for how things turned out. Seems like this will be the ultimate what if year. I don't think they were gonna beat Nicholls but beating Sam and Sela was very realistic. And with SFA losing to Lamar the Privateers realistically could have been a 13-5 2 seed which would have been an amazing accomplishment. Now it sure looks like a 6 seed and early exit at Katy. Truly sad.

But I do agree the future is really bright. Probably a team in contention again next season.

I agree with this post 100%.

And those that didn't do their job will have to live with it. The fans, tho not great, showed up in more numbers this year. I hope the way this ended doesn't give them a sour taste that lasts till next year.

Troy Green probably needs to shoot 500 three pointers a day over the summer. I feel like his game will explode once he develops more range and is confident shooting it. He clearly is not now, and it hampers him because guys can sag off of him and focus on guarding drives to the hole, which look like his bread-and-butter. That will come a lot easier for him once he has a dependable three-point shot to keep defenses honest.

As for everything else, yep, I emotionally checked out of the season on Wednesday. You can rah-rah the performance of the backups all you want, and it is encouraging for the future, but getting to the NCAA Tournament is never going to be easy and you need your horses to do it, both in securing your byes and then getting it done in Katy once you've fought your way into position. Travin will go down in UNO history as a really good four-year player that just couldn't keep it together at critical times. If you can't count on your best player, you're screwed.

I assume none of us know what happened. Maybe we will never find out, but the fact that Sless has taken a stand is commendable. It is a teaching moment that if you do the deed you face the consequences. I respect him for that.

Too many times we don't hold people responsible for their actions when we could and should. Every action has a consequence and Sless is trying to make a difference in the lives of his players now and moving forward. That is not what every coach at the college level does. Others are all about winning as we can see with the ongoing NCAA investigation.

I applaud him for sticking to his principals of being a role model, teacher and coaching these young men in life lessons. I would hope that some day in the future those involved will look back and realize how valuable a lesson he taught.

It isn't all about winning; however, that is what we ultimately are attempting to do at many different levels. It is also about the development of these young men. It is about building character, installing a sense of responsibility to ones self, his teammates, the university they all represent, the fans and the others they interact with. It is also about making each individual on the team an all around better person.

Sless, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

GO PRIVATEERS!!!

I applaud coach for holding to the rules. I resent Travin and others who don't follow rules. This does NOT mean I don't respect what he's done here these 4 years nor enjoy the memories, just that I can't just say that he should be released of any responsibility.

He should have LOTS of blame for where HIS TEAM is at this point in time. And there is no taking this back.

That said, ....the fact that we had to wait almost a week to know what was going on is NOT acceptable. To NOT know that Charles was injured and that there was a disciplinary action is not forgivable to me. Details weren't needed, just a simple IMMEDIATE statement that one player was injured and 3-4 others were being disciplined was all that was necessary.

WHY THE SILENCE? what does it help?

And does Wed's game matter at all? Standing wise? Season wise? Whatever wise?

I would think that this is a bigger game for Southeastern than for us, so I hope we come ready to play. The final two games of the season for Nicholls are at Northwestern and at Southeastern. The last two games for Southeastern are at UNO and at home against Nicholls. Southeastern (13-3) is a game behind Nicholls (14-2). If Nicholls wins at Northwestern (1-15), which they should, and Southeastern beats us (11-6), Southeastern would be playing at home against Nicholls for the conference championship. Their records would be identical, but Southeastern will have beaten Nicholls twice. So, it is a big game.

I'm sorry, I didn't write that clear enough.......I meant does it matter much for us given that we're not getting a bye? Of course, I'd rather not have to face UCA after they man handled us at home but I guess it all depends who's going to play.

I'm not sure how a win or a loss would affect our tournament opponent. A win would help ensure a winning season, keep us tied with Lamar for fifth in the league, and be revenge for our loss at SLU in a big way. I'm hoping that the UCA loss was an anomaly.

He reminds me of a less talented version of Ledell Eckles.
