Just heard on the news that one of SLU's basketball players, Jabbar Singleton, was suspended indefinitely due to his alleged involvement in the recent shootings on the SLU campus.

WTF is wrong with these kids who are given chances to make something of their lives that MOST DO NOT HAVE and yet throw it away? |

Apparently James Currington, who had a big hand in shutting down Travin in Hammond, has been shot. Jabbar Singleton didn't shoot him but fired a gun at the attackers in his defense. Meanwhile, as far as we know, Travin, taken out of the last game by Currington, is now being shut down by his own actions. It will be the Disciplinary Reasons Bowl. Dang, you can't make this S()#$ up even for a movie! I was wondering if this last game was going to be worth watching but now that I hear all of this (and know that its on tv so the rest of the criminals can watch it too), I'm kinda looking forward to see what happens. Might have to pull someone from the stands just to have enough bodies to play. Fun times. |

http://www.unoprivateers.com/news/2018/2/27/mens-basketball-game-29-regular-season-comes-to-end-with-mbb-hosting-southeastern.aspx No mention of the 'issues' of either team but there is this: Head coach Mark Slessinger has mixed and matched his starting lineup all season with 13 different starting fives. |

I see that this game will not only be shown on tv but be taped delayed for a national broadcast. I wonder if Jordy will mention any of this.......of course not but imagine the story line that this could bring for the Southland.....last year's Conf and tournament champions team has players out for disciplinary reasons and this years #2 team has 2 players out for asinine reasons. Again, you just can't make this stuff up. |

Advocate Article: http://www.theadvocate.com/new_orleans/sports/article_db64c39c-1c22-11e8-a038-0be10729f2cf.html PS. My editorial rant: As a former BM Graduate, seeing that one of the guilty at SLU went to my ALMA MATER, was given a chance to better himself via free education for playing basketball and then went total IDIOT, I'm saddened. I know times are different than before the century when I went but, stupid is still stupid. |

You gotta figure SFA is kicking back and laughing at this. Two contenders for the title basically start punching themselves in the face during the last two weeks of the season. "Those nutty Louisiana schools! Ahhh, thanks for the double bye, guys, we've missed it." Edited by Steve, Feb 28 2018, 02:04 PM.

This Filmore kid avgs 9 pts a game....has 19 in the first half . Sadly, 4 of his 5 three ptrs are from the exact same spot and ALL 5 were WIDE OPEN. I think we have some good young talent in Berzat and Green. Hope they stay. I wish Charles had more than 1 year left as well. Zeno = Zero. Just a fact. At this point it seems he's just a body to give someone else a rest. |

Since most of those on this board are likely at the game, you may have missed the huge, STUPID gaffe that Jordy Hultberg said. He said that "this place used to be called the Chamber of Horrors". Then went on to say that it was built so long ago. |

Yes, I’m at the game, and I don’t think that we can play much worse.

Well we may just get the chance if we play UCA next week and they do what they did to us at home. |

This year: SO many things. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Guys gave it a really good shot tonite despite their Sr Leader failing on his team. (I think Travin owes his coach, his teammates AND the fans an apology, but I'm an old dinosaur who believes in the old fashioned things so wtf do I know?) Old buggaboos came back tonite.......really pathetic passing that seemed to be corrected a few games ago, easy backdoor layups, wide open 3's and a few unnecessary offensive fouls late in the game. But when you go down by 12 in the first half and 17 in the 2nd, you shoot your wad trying to get back and with the lack of talent right now, that's impossible. Like most sless teams (did I spell that right?), these guys never quit but they really didn't give themselves much chance in too many games going down so big.....and at home! Imagine if they were only down by 7 ........but this reg season ends like the last....with a loss at home to SLU, who we used to OWN. It would be pretty good luck if they won 1 game in the tourny. But I guess that doesn't matter since they're going nohwere after next week. Here's to a fairly young but seemingly talented team next year. PS. I feel for guys like Pou who really worked his ass off only to have his team leader bail on him. He and the other guys deserve better. |

Apologies for Jude's broadcast going out late first half. Internet went out at the Arena for like ...25 seconds, and we didn't get him back online until halftime. ...I think it was only like 2 minutes of actual gametime. |

Seems like everything is just bad luck or bad news for UNO these days. Hopefully the ladies will do well and the baseball teams surprises. |

Puou was unfortunately terrible last night -- without Thibodeaux we really need him to show up. As it was, the team was once again scrappy without their best player. That's all they can be without Travin -- they are going to have a rough time winning close games without him, as they look like they have no idea who's supposed to shoot down the stretch. Zeke Charles was a classic example of that down 63-59. Southeastern was, for some reason, begging our 45% 3-pt shooter to shoot a three. He must have stood there on the right wing for maybe 2-3 seconds looking like he wanted to do anything but shoot, but ultimately really didn't have a choice and reluctantly took the damn shot... and made it. But criminey. Bryson Robinson's absence was big there as well, as I feel like he is the least shy shooter on the team and would probably take it upon himself late, for better or worse. We could still theoretically win one game in Katy, even if we draw Central Arkansas. Every UCA game is a pick-em game, whether it's at UCLA or home against Abilene Christian. After that, though, sayonara. This season has simultaneously given me great hope for next year, and left a sour taste in my mouth. |
