You all knew it was coming. The moment dicynodonts became involved in this speculative evolution project it was going to happen. Aquatic dicynodonts just seem too good an idea to ignore. We've had the "dicynophibians" ever since the project began; dicynodonts that transcend beyond their hippo-like forms and evolve into fully aquatic/marine animals. I still really like the concept and would love to bring it back into this incarnation of the project (as well as other evolutionary paths for dicynodonts). The name "dicynophibian" has been used for a while to refer to these creatures, although I'd like to rename them Dicyrenia (a combination of 'dicynodonts' and 'sirenia' (a.k.a. sea-cows), it seems more fitting. |

Go for it. I came up with Dicynophibian of the top of my head cause the idea was that they did spend time on land at least part of the time, but this works just as well if not better. |

DA has some good ideas on this![]() and for my Geodontids Kombuisia and Wadiasaurus are good descendents and for Ox, Rhino, or Boar like Dicynodonts and maybe the descendents of your Aquatic dicynodonts Dinodontosaurus, Dolichuranus, Ischigualastia, Kannemeyeria, and Placerias |

I like to think that we can come up with more than just replacing what was already there. After all, we've got over 200 million years to work with, so many possibilities. |

then can we have some that branch off into those niches? all I see them doing is going from a peaceful grazer, to something with a bad attitude and can horns that can impale a watermelon. I try to find the likely, So I basically give myself a headache if I try and figure out how a ox-like Dicynodont would turn into a tyrannosaur analog or something bizzare |

I personally just can't see dicynodonts growing horns. There's another structure I can see them with, but I'm planning on drawing a little concept of that before I say anything. |

I meant the tusks, basically a rhino with tusks instead of horns |
