While most dicynodonts had a sprawling posture, some of the larger kannemeyeriiforms (e.g. Dinodontosaurus, Placerias) developed erect hind limbs, while the front limbs were still bent at the elbow. I don't see any reason why dicynodonts couldn't develop a fully-erect gait, which could allow them to attain larger sizes.
