Scientific Name: Magnageosuchus silvárum Meaning: large earth crocodile of the forests Common name: large Geocroc Lifespan: 30-50 Age: Callovian-Maastrichtian(longest lasting Geocroc species) Diet: Insectivore/Carnivore Location: Northern South America to Southern North America Habitat: wetlands and tropical forests Description: Looks like its ancestor †Decuriasuchus quartacolonia only slightly smaller. Males have a small flap on their tails for display and are dark green with black and brown patterns and females look the same only with out the tail flap. Notes: These animals borrow and swim well. Only offspring are seen in trees. Behavior: Most social of the Geocrocs and most vocal. They sound like a mix between a peacock and a hyena and cackle to attract a mate. Juveniles climb trees to stay away from predators. Breeding Behavior: social and mating behavior is similar to lions with one male and three females forming a pack.
